No, what I meant is that the women's NT has higher chances to medal or win against top teams because other women's NTs tend to be less consistent. Aside from the Italian team, all other teams have shown fluctuating performances.
Top men's NTs are more consistent, so it's more difficult for JPN to compete against them (tbh even with Nishida + Sekita back).
It seems to me like JPN womens vball team is currently stronger than their male vball team. Quite unexpected since the women played with new starter six and the loss of Koga.

Souma Matsumoto. Chinzei’s (now former) “ace”. Scored a ridiculous number of points at last year’s Haruko and got super popular on social media (I guess also because he is good looking). He opened a public instagram account last year which I rarely see happening with highschoolers. He has a good amount of followings for someone like him. I didn’t follow the 2023 edition but he was probably the best scorer for his team this year too.
