Kisy > Lorrayna?
Certainly! There's no doubt in my mind.

Are you guys ready for Praia vs SESI?
No!
I was away last night and couldn't watch the match, but now I actually don't feel like going after it.
Judging by the numbers, it seems Sabrina held her own, but SESC made too many mistakes and Praia's OH's finally showed up. Kasiely particularly seems like a standout. Maybe SESC didn't serve as good as in the first match? Anyways, they're unbelievably unlucky losing two starters these last few days. Let's see what match 3 reserves.
And hopefully we'll have a nice match next.
Just saw this on Twitter. OMG. Poor her. Not to be able to play the final after an amazing QF & SF bouts. Who is her backup?
Sabrina, who played as the team's main OPP in the beginning of the season, when Monique was injured. Let's pray. (I actually like her, but she hasn't been very good lately.) The other option might be, as saishuu mentioned, moving Peña to the right and having Gabiru opposite to Maira.
There's this very iconic episode, when Claudinha was Amil/Campinas setter in season 2013/14. During the semifinals, there was a moment when Zé Roberto had Claudinha aside in a TTO and went bananas on her. Called her "stupid", he was very rude. And that day, even, the match was being broadcast by Globo, an open channel (not cable), so a lot of people watched that. Ever since that day, people pretty much ruled out the possibility of him ever calling her back to the NT again. Then, as Sidney said, in 2018 she was called to be a part of a B team, but never again she was called to the main team. This year, very early on there was this buzz that he might call her again, because Praia was doing so well during the regular phase and she was being praised.
My personal opinion is that she is an OK setter who occasionally has some very good moments, but I never found her super consistent. Sometimes she has one good season, then the other season she's not so good. Praia loves her probably because she was the setter when they won the Superliga in season 17/18. She was really great during the final match that year, but her season overall was very shaky, that's why before the season was over they had already signed Carli Lloyd. Carli flopped, so they went back to Claudinha, but I never considered her such a good setter that she should be kept among the very best in the country. But she's certainly ranked as that, mostly by the clubs and the media. And I think some of the fans like her and feel sorry for her because of the Zé Roberto thing and the Lloyd thing, but... that just doesn't mean she's a top setter.
We saw that in this last match. During most of the season, she felt comfortable, she had strong, reliable spikers, almost always good reception, so her job was easy. When her team is really pressured, like it was last Friday, she panicks and doesn't know what to do. I think she'd be a good choice for teams like Fluminense, Pinheiros, even Barueri. The main teams can and should do a lot better off without her, though.
THANK YOU
I think I would hate Praia a little less if they had a better setter than Claudinha.. she's so uninspired and the commentators keep giving her all the praises.. it's really annoying...
Amen. Hopefully Zé Roberto don't fall into that trap.
And by the way, another reason to dislike Praia: the way they handled that COVID situation, when they had the match against Pinheiros and they refused to reschedule even when their opponent barely had 6 people to assemble on court. When their managed was confronted online, he started calling people names.
Minas' system is solid, until it isn't... They are really volatile, today they showed up, they had the time of their life, but don't forget that they lost the last 3 matches against SESI, the last I don't know how many anymore against Praia... When Cuttino come back, we will see a lot more of unforced errors, if they break Neri, we will have Pri Souza again... SESI when played smart today realized how close to the net Minas positioned themselves, so a simply tip to the end of the court and Leia's lack of space awareness will be their doom... It's everything but done
I understand, and as a fan, you have every right to pinpoint the team's weaknesses. The thing is... for this semifinal, I already expected Bauru would struggle a lot, cause their system in attack is fragile. They need to count on Nia scoring all the time, cause their OH's are not up to par and losing Mayhara in these past few matches was also a blow for them. Facing Minas' block, that's very hard, and I imagined Thaísa would rise to the occasion as she did today. It's true that Minas lacks consistency, but Macris just finds a way to have someone score, she's unstoppable.
SESC's system is also fragile, as we saw in match 1 from the quarterfinals. Today I'm amazed at what they pulled in Uberlândia and if they can get past Praia in Rio, that would be unreal, most probably the most unexpected final they ever reached. But I'm also a fan who loves to pinpoint my team's weaknesses. Let's see what happens.
Regardless, today SESC also showed how to stop Praia. Though Minas hasn't that done that yet this season, they're perfectly capable of pulling that off in case we have a Mineira final yet again. And Praia... Honestly, it's not just about their game. There's something that just does not click on that team. Even when they're on top, the way they've been most of the season... The impression I have is that they have this loser mentality... I know those are strong words... But that's how it strikes me. Even when they're superior technically, they still find a way to screw things up. (I do think it has to do a lot with the way they're coached and managed...)
That's why I think this is Minas' to lose. Most probably Nicola will do everything in his power to try to stop his own team on the way to success, but unless he benches Macris throughout these last matches, I don't think there's much he can do. (You see, this is less about how good Minas is, and more about how the others are just worse...)
Not to put pressure on you guys, or anything... But I just don't see Minas losing this year, regardless of who they face in the final. Their system is too solid. You need to be amazing to be able to break Macris and their block is also very tough. Even not having the best reception and with their pins not always being reliable, it's still too hard to break them. (Maybe a better team could beat them, but not the ones we have this year...)
Rubinho still has a secret weapon left: Ivna as OH.
I know, right? It crossed my mind, actually.
But I'm disappointed in him, anyway. I really like him as coach, but I think tonight he's lost. Mara on court, now?
Drussyla even at 5% of her peak and impaired with mental health issues is still a better player than Suelle. I love it.
I think she'll be needed for the rest of the match, cause Bauru struggles too much with attack. If it's only Nia, it becomes too easy to read.
(But Rubinho started with Drussyla in Thaisinha's place... )
You guys, what the hell just happened? I knew Praia had their problems, but I really did not expect them to lose 3 x 0 in this first match. That's so crazy, I'm loving it.
And Giovana's just amazing!
Anne playing absolutely nothing, sub OHs are Tainara and Vanessa.. Praia: let's renew with everybody
I know, right? Imagine how hysterical would be if Praia got eliminated in the semifinals by SESC and then next season they already have the same group set in stone... I'd die laughing...
Both... She'll be mostly canon fodder but she still has some potential to reach and can prove us wrong.. Amanda on the other hand, we already know what's she's capable of, there's nothing to improve there.
I understand... I actually think Amanda could be helpful, having a similar role as Sassá had back in the day... Since Zé is so fond of experience, with the losing of Natália I could see him trying to persuade her to come back. At the same time, if he's really willing to have Rosa back as OH, there might not be a lot of space left. Specially with the surprising inclusion of Bergmann already this year, there might not make sense to bring back a veteran.
I'm not really a fan, but I think she's the best of the "I receive OK/I don't know how to attack" OH we have right now... if we really need one of those I would go for her instead of Amanda in a heartbeat
Because of the age thing or cause you think she really can be more helpful?
I was (kinda) kidding but I actually meant her. I think he won't risk two attacking-OHs. It's not Zé's style. But yeah, maybe there won't be any passing-OH in the first few weeks.
Yeah, I actually think if she's game, he'll call her. Maybe you guys are not really into it, but I like the idea of having her back.
Maybe Ze will call Maira? She deserves a call IMO
Really, you think so? She was great in this past match and had some solid moments through the season, but I don't know... She's an awesome receiver, but her attack is so shaky already in the domestic level... I'm not that excited about her... but maybe the Macris magic could turn her into the new Sassá, or something.
Still can't believe this actually happened! The writers really bought our Cinderella story!
Imagine having a SESC VS SESI final. I will be rooting for Adenizia’s lost soooo hard.
Wow, that would be wild. It'd be an unforgettable season. It's very unlikely, though. But the last time we had such an unexpected final was season 2013/2014, when SESC (back then Unilever) improved during the playoffs after a rough regular phase and SESI, who had a rebirth during that season, after being 8th or 9th during the first round, then developping exquisitely to the point where they eliminated a still, up to that point, unbeated Osasco in the semifinals. That was really epic!
Is Yonkaira's passing that good, or are stats pretty generous?
I couldn't catch the stats (CBV's website always crashing... ), but her reception improved tremendously in the second part of the season. Tonight I was too nervous to make a proper judgement, but I feel like she did pretty good... Actually, I think safe for the 3rd set, SESC's reception was top notch.
And now they need to defeat another one, but even more scary, let's go please
We'll have the battle of the Dominicans now! Let's go, Peña!
So happy for Giovana. Her first time reaching the semifinals after 10 seasons! She's singlehandedly responsible for Rio's ressurgence this year.
Totally agree with you. What she did was amazing. Peña wasn't the same in this last set after the crushing defeat in the third... And Giovana was still able to lift the team's spirit... Also... Hadn't she replaced Juma and guided them during the second half of the season, most probably we would've ended the regular phase as 7th... She's this team's soul.
I think she got hurt with that last dive, she just wanted the game to end
OMG, this girl needs to be studied... She's an iron woman... Always breaking herself and always recovering...
And Giovana deserves some praise, too...
(Tá tirando leite de pedra com essas atacantes...)
And a couple of jacas to Milka in these last points, but she got the job done...
