They really looked soooo smooth

I think she is well on her road to recovery and version 2.0.
She has been looking more and more aggressive in the past few matches. I have the same kind of excitement as I used to, when I see her gear up for a kill! Pretty decent recovery - about a year ish for her to come back to good form and she’s not even at her peak yet! *rubs hands in glee*

Slightly off topic but seems like Yao Di’s transfer to Scandicci is all but confirmed… Definitely not on my bingo card. WHAT ABOUT LYY!!!!!!!!

Beijing has their back against the wall now....can they take a page out of Shenzhen’s book and win 3 sets to turn the match around ?
I don’t think they can...not after that second set collapse.... and they are up against one of the most resilient teams in the CVL
wow watching Beijing is painful… Luckily for their foreign players they still get paid well but this season is…

Was watching the Scandicci-Firenze match yesterday, and heard Clayton Lucas make an offhand remark on Washington (around the 2nd set 6-4 mark):
“Well you see all these forums of volleyball and obviously, everyone has their opinion - that’s fine, you have an opinion, not that it means a great deal if you don’t have anything to back it up particularly, other than just the fact [of] what you watched someone do on the telly, and it’s said that Haleigh Washington, not perhaps as good as she could be, I think she’s absolutely phenomenal…”
I recall some criticisms of Washington a few games ago on this very thread haha - I wonder if Lucas is on here… -
she is looking better and better each week.

what’s the point of Zhu when the setter is so bad lol. She can’t even set properly to 4 to anyone of any height or any power or any style… no pipes either… Castillo sets better than her lol
-
Monza vs Firenze is too
(although Orro is slightly less bad than normal)
Di Iulio going from bad to worse in Set 3 lol this always happens
-
Scandicci v Bergamo is like battle of the bad setters

Postponements across the board until next week ( I think ) due to the mourning period after Jiang Zemin’s death… No entertainment coming out of China during this period.

Guangdong just doesn’t have what it takes… I prefer to see more equal distribution of sets/points than just having one crazy high scorer (a la Miao) - it’s just not the way to build a team, plus it also shows subpar setting.
Not happy that FanFan was forced to play even after hurting her ankle not 24 hours ago. This coach is…

Wang Yifan is injured
It happened when the score was 11-11 in set 5, between Shandong and Guangdong.
She was seen hobbling off the court, apparently from an ankle injury.
Shandong was made to work hard coming from 2 sets down to win 3-2. Shandong’s powerful opposite, Ana Cleger didn’t play in this match.
Devastating….. hope she gets a rest… Her team will crumble without her of course but she alone has not been able to really make a difference because they have an ineffective opposite

Although she’s just 28 yo, she seems to have past her prime, just a few years ago she was known to be a hard hitting and efficient player and always animated and enthusiastic while playing...she’s well liked by her many fans, me included
Agree - she is still so young! She should still be performing at at least a B level. But 0 points when you were on court for all sets is downright embarrassing, and her performance today against Shanghai is the hole for Liaoning.

The stacs of Day 1 of Pool E:
http://www.volleychina.org/b/2…doc-imqmmthc6474881.shtml
Duan Fang: 0 points, attack: 17 times, 1 blocked, 1 errors; her reception was also worse than Shi Bing-tong.
What happened to her… Is it no connection with the setter or…?

Does Shenzhen have an unfair advantage of having that many foreigners on their team? Maybe. But remember these players aren't really top foreigners so if Jiangsu's young players (or any domestic players) want to make the NT then they need an eye opener that the level of the international stage is going to be much higher than what Shenzhen is bringing so they need to improve more. And even with all those foreigners, Shenzhen's performance is still kinda sloppy.
Agree - I don’t really think they have an unfair advantage, but I wondered if it was allowed by officials especially considering the cap they had last season on foreigners. I think it is great that these domestic players who have no experience playing anyone not from their local system can see what the standard globally is. As you said, these players in Shenzhen are not really top in their country, so they’re not really “world class”, but it’s still important for them to have this exposure. I wish China had a more robust system of sending high potentials abroad, but well… 井底之蛙

the 2019 CNT >>>>>>>

Are there no foreigner quotas this season? Surely 6/6 players on court being foreigners isn’t allowed?
Another possibly stupid question - why does Shenzhen have so many foreigners? Too much money? Weak VB system and weak players as a result? -
I like how this game between Shenzhen and Jiangsu has an audience… Dead arenas are just sad
also any insight into Yang Jia from Jiangsu? She’s made some good blocks in the games I’ve seen… how do people feel about her prospects? She’s only 17 too?! -
According to the rumors,
in 2022 U18 ACH, she is 1.88 m tall.
In 2022 Chinese League, she is still 1.88 m tall.
188 is acceptable on a global level… perhaps we’ll actually see her on court some time in international competitions

bright spots in Chinese CVL really are Zhuang, Wang Yindi, Zhou Yetong and Wang Yifan to a certain degree. GD is too weak atm but WYF still manages to be the ace. How tall is Yindi?
