Okay so now that we’ve seen the new team in action, what are our thoughts?
Here’s mine:
L: WWY was below par. Not impressed, and WMJ would have done better. Would like to see NFF and her rotate
OH:
- LYY was sabotaged by DLY sets and only came to life after Ding Xia came on
- WYL did surprisingly well with reception but weak defensively and non existent attacks (I think there were 3 attack points only?)
- No idea why JY was selected of the 1 billion people in China
OPP:
- GXY is going to be so tired carrying this team on her back…
MB: Unsurprisingly the strongest bloc (pun intended), WYY & YXY performed as expected although YXY lacked a bit of the energy she usually has
S: DX can never retire

This Chinese team has so many confusions in defense on the back row that they look like playing together for the first time this week. Their league ended so early and the NT had like the longest time training together on earth, they should do much better than this.
agree - even the CCTV commentator is calling this out, saying that they’ve lost too many points from the back row.
How do you all think WYL can improve her attacks? Is she not jumping high enough/hitting hard/smart enough? Seems like she could be an asset with her receptions but her attacks…

There are times it looks like she's just playing around. I noticed it also with Shanghai, a few times it looked like Larson kept reminding her that she could've saved a ball.
I always thought she didn’t look “serious” enough but it seemed like everyone else thought she did an incredible job so I thought maybe I just didn’t get it… Her legs also seem kind of heavy

Quite disappointed with CHN’s performance so far. The chasm between the regular starters and the upstarts from the provinces is… Wang Weiyi is looking really mediocre. Jin Ye was awful (1 point) in the first set and I dont know if Wang Yunlu has even scored a single attack point.
The outside position is looking so bare its almost empty. LYY isn’t on her A-game today and the other outsides haven’t even shown up to the stadium…
