    They both have striking eyes.

For the longest time during Irina's Victoria Secret era I thought she was Brazilian then our local news channel here in Tehran started reporting on her and that's the only time I found out she's actually Russian

Her eyes did made me first think of Irina.

Not only that Irina is such a classic Russian name, her last name also ends in "va" which is like the default names for Russian women.

Better to put this news here as well.

Sad to know that such a world class libero retires early at only 29. IMO she is the best in Asia of this generation.

Shocked about Kobata. Also good thing that other players get to play outside Japan. it will bring good exchange for them.

I missed Tashiro in Japan NT

I agree with everything except the last one. Startseva is such a classic beauty but also a little bit high fashion ---term I forgot what they called it. I remember posting asking who that girl is that looked like Lindsey years ago but nobody knew who she was

Startseva looks like the Russian supermodel Irina Shayk too.

Turkey is kinda unstable. they can be so strong if they're on.

Let me rephrase what I wanted to say: China took the tests on the 18th and the tests came out positive, they didn't took the tests yesterday or the day before their match against France. I agree with you that they whoever is in charge of these things should make sure the ones who tested positive are negative now

FIVB should clear things out. this is their responsibility. China didn't need to test before their match against France because they won't be allowed to play anyway because of the # of quarantine days they have to meet.

It’s already said very clearly you are posting in a WRONG thread, and you’re actually also posting in the mens thread, why do you keep on posting on both threads? This mess is nothing related to the WOMEN’S VNL.

I'm only replying. chill. it's not like I'm putting virus here

This isn't really the right thread since it's the women's competition, however volleyball.it says that yesterday's match between France and China was not played because China had 18 or 19 positive people out of 21. It was weird enough that today they tested all negative all of a sudden.

PS: can a mod move this part of the conversation to the right thread? Thank you:win:

they tested positive 6 days ago... they cancelled yesterday because they were required 5 days quarantine

It's beyond insane. Chinese team got tested positive and went to 5-day quarantine. After that, they got clearance to play without further PCR tests? How is it a safe protocol to anyone, the athletes, the staff, the referees, the audience?

why is team Germany the only team griping about it when Argentina played against team Japan that also tested positive days before and was subjected to the same covid protocol quarantine?

Imo, if Germany isn't comfortable playing with people who aren't fully clear (due to incubation period of COVID), it's completely within their rights to refuse since they'll be counted as losing the match (forfeit) automatically. It's completely within anyone's decision to play or not.

But if they just stood up the whole match when everything was already arranged, fans already in their seats, without informing prior to the match of their decision not to play (against China or the Philippines), then that's not very nice and lacks sportsmanship.

Proper courtesy is to inform ahead of time that you don't want to play.

I'm not familiar with the international body's rules, but would they face any backlash for this, if what you say is correct?

China was already warming up, the fans were already there and they didn't have the courtesy to even cancel before the match? they should be disqualified completely at this point.

I know it’s already cancelled, I’m just saying that they didn’t refused to play “only hours before the match”, since the match was originally scheduled for next Monday

they agreed to it and confirmed it before. tickets were sold already and then they just say "oops, nah.. we're too tired"

It says that even though 6 days ago 21 members of Chinese team were positive, shortly before match all were cleared by the authorities, so it seems Germany didn't believe these results, lol. I wonder if they overreacted or the organizational level is suspicious, it sounds super w

Japan also had 6 players who tested positive and then got cleared to play Argentina. so only China is suspicious?

Racism? That they didn't feel safe playing against team which was sick two days before? lol

Germany has really strict rules regarding Covid in their country. Probably, the players didn't want to be potentially quarantined (if there would be some positive cases in China team)

Japan also tested positive days earlier and then they got cleared to play against Argentina. do you hear any problems coming from Argentina?

the test came back negative. they weren't sick. and they didn't even bother informing the hosts in advanced. they just didn't show up. people were already in the venue waiting. if this were an Asian team, they would be shamed.
