So if she’s there by nepotism, then the only way for her to leave the team is for her voluntary departure. I might see that happen if CNT doesn’t make it to the Paris Olympics. But the chances of them making it is still high due to the world ranking.

Whenever they start the set with WYL, I just know they are going to be in trouble. (That’s like 99% of the time) I did enjoy watching WMJ in the game against Canada. Lots of energy despite the loss. Mind you, most of them are probably tired and fatigued b/c they’ve played in every single set of every single game. Didn’t see that national team spirit tonight. They just could not close it out.
ZH coming in for serves? I’m not seeing anything special or aggressive with her skills. Who was the previous specialized server?? Did we have one?
I hope they bounce back from the prev 2 losses. I just wish CB would use more of his bench. Can’t expect them to improve if you don’t let them play.

I’m sorry if someone already asked this but: can one play in the Olympics without playing the qualifier? Ie can ZT still play in the 2024 Olympics?

Any links to watch the final? Chn vs Ita
Thanks in advance!

Let’s hope Li YY stays healthy and injury-free.
that’s all we can do this point. -

agree with many here.. I don’t even know why Wang YL is even playing. Her passes, ball reception, and attacks are not NT quality. There is def a lack of consistency. I wonder if her teammates secretly agree with us on this one.. lol

Throwback to this match where An Jiajie stepped into the main coach's shoes without the main players against Turkey. Yao Di was the main setter, and the other players who are not usually in the starting line-up pulled their weight. Liu Yanhan was a good performer in this match: she hit with confidence and good court awareness, and is what WYL should be / could be but is not.
Ain't that the truth. You would think Diao gained something valuable from being in the wide roster during Lang Ping's time and had two amazing setters to learn from (Ding and Yao), but not.....
I know there are currently no players that reach even half of their seniors' calibre (i.e. Zhu, Yan, Ding, etc), and the younger players might not be very good yet, but this is the time for a fresh start. This is the time to give a chance to the younger players who might not have proven their weight on court, but to bet on them would be much better than to just suffer the same fate of having the same old players whom you know are not performing to standard?
Look at Japan: they played young players like Araki (MB) and Wada (OP) who had just joined the senior NT this year, yet they've already shown they got what it takes. Especially Wada, she did very well against USA in their 5-set match.
If China doesn't get at least Top 8 (same as last year) or go into the SFs, I say trash this coach. He has had his chance.
thanks for the clip! I really miss watching LYH and also the uninjured and confident GXY!!
I hope she recovers well and at least given the opportunity to rest.. -
She doesn't want to play.
my hopes of her returning diminishes as time goes. It seems like she’s more interested in reviewing and promoting products and spends her time on non volleyball related events. I don’t blame her though. Her injuries are probably worse than ppl think.

GXY has instagram?
I meant from one her Fan pages on instagram 😅
TBH I’m a bit surprised they do this. Is this a yearly thing?
-
I was wondering about that- saw it on GXY’s instagram. Is it really necessary and doesn’t it impede on their court time??
-
🤔 There must be something wrong with CB’s brain or /and his eyes. Why is he not broadening his choices? Afraid to take chances on new faces? Bring in some new faces and test their abilities rather than the mediocre faces for similar or declining performances. This year’s international competitions should be the time to introduce new potentials and gear up for Paris 2024.
yeah I agree- boring. Not a risk taker
I think he’s mostly banking on ZT and LYY to make the headlines. The lack of good supporting players will come back and haunt him.
-
Maybe just maybe ZCN??? Lol

thanks!

Does anyone have A link to the Match?

Zhu won everything not just because she was (/is) the Best but also because she had the support of huge squad with incredible players such as ZCN HRQ YN DX and fearless YXY. A complete team where she could shine brightly. Unfortunately, in comparison, LYY has WYL and JY, injuried GXY and no MB…🥲
Hopefully ZT can join her: the most lethal duo.😎
For the remaining questions I think Yes DX will retire, hopefully she can contribute as assistant coach. Young players need to play more… next year especially cuz we got nothing to lose 😅
I agree- ZT was able to shine brighter with a great supporting team where everyone pulled their weight. OG 2016- sure ZT got most of the points from attacks but the others played well too. Good serves, good blocks and great reception. The subs played well too. Ie LXT
LYY and her current support team is a different story. But I’m willing to bet YXY will play way better if ZT returns. will probably boost her confidence. YXY is so unrecognizable this year…

Disappointed to see that we didn’t give Italy much of a challenge, while Poland pushed Serbia to 5 and to the very end!
With all said and done, I think we are all aligned on the fact that this NT season has been one of bewilderment, frustration and disappointment.
Bewildered by Cai’s selection to the NT, frustrated by his selections on court (Diao, anyone?), and disappointment in the lack of improvement in some players.
I think that the middles ultimately were too unstable - attacking-wise they were acceptable, but the blocking has been a huge question mark. At her current state, Yuan is not a worthy successor to the Great Wall. No one really is at the moment. Perhaps the pressure of being Captain got to her, because I think she ultimately fell short in both tasks.
On the bright side, I look forward to Cai’s resignation - for China to end up World No. 5, languishing at 7th or 8th place in major tournaments even while having tremendous players like LYY, shows how much Cai has failed in coaching the team. I genuinely think that we could have brought Wu, Zhuang, WYF and ended up in the same position, so why not give the young players the opportunity?
All his decisions have been wrong. He has been too arrogant and stubborn to make changes, only waiting to the last minute when the rice has turned to porridge…
—Before WCH I was thinking about why LYY hasn’t been able to carry the team even while having such tremendous talents. At 22, why do we call her 妹妹 (“little sister”), worry about her fragility on court, when at 22 Zhu was already an Olympic Champion and a year off from being the team captain? Of course, not everyone is meant to be a leader, and perhaps that is the missing piece for Team China. They didn’t have someone who they could look to, rely on to perform and boost their morale when things weren’t going their way. We’ve been spoiled by Zhu, and without her it is clear that the team is merely a 7/8th placed team. Talent is there, but leadership on and off court isn’t.
Questions on my mind:1. Will Ding retire?
2. Will CVA bite the bullet and hire a foreigner to coach?
3. When will Zhu start training with the NT again? Will she be a part of VNL 2023?
4. What if CVA doesn’t fire Cai? Will WYL, JY and Diao be good enough to get China out of the pool stages in Paris?5. What if Gong never fully recovers?
My thoughts:
1. Yes prob after the 2024 Olympics. I think she can hang on for 2 more years
2. 100% no. The pride of China, will never ask a foreigner to lead one of their most prestigious teams.
3. Yes will train with CNT. Maybe VNL 20234.no I hope WYL and JY will be off the team by then, otherwise they won’t make it far.
5. She will if she can rest

i’m looking forward to watching ZT again! She is definitely the clutch player that CNT needs.
