Sylla was the undeniable MVP of the last WCH and clearly the best player of Italy both on semifinal and in final. She also delivered and helped a lot Egonu, when they won the ECH back in 2021. I know that she is unstable and that she was never that good in her clubs, but she managed to be critical for the NT a lot of times.

Sylla was the unquestionable MVP of the WCH 2025. Her defense and ability to score crazy points out of nothing definitely removed tons of pressure from her team. She’s one of those who is “meh” in club but “ohlala” in NT…

If true then it only shows that the level of other teams is low.

The team with them in starting six is on a level of Turkiye, Belgium, Ukraine and so on.

What block on Anderson? Leon was changing with Semeniuk and Semeniuk was blocking in pos 2. It had nothing to do with block. Bołądź was bad in attack and terrible server and Sasak is not it, let's be honest.

bro, not sure what match you watched but Leon played opposite in pos 2 during the 5th set. Only in rotation one (the exception rotation) did Leon attack from pos 4 and Semeniuk from pos 2… and there was one rotation where Leon also stayed in pos 4 to block Hanes (which he did).

What golden bench? They have literally starting six plus Semeniuk. The rest is pinchbeck and not gold. He had to put Leon on court as OPP. Where is this depth that all people are talking about?

Two things: it wasn’t the match for Baladz and Grbic wanted to be strategic and put a bigger block on Anderson, hence Leon playing in pos 2 (he also had two blocks in set 5, one on Averill). Of course, Fornal, Leon, Semeniuk bring more quality but Sliwka and Szalpuk would also start in many NTs…

And out of nowhere USA win this set :white: Amazing contribution by DeFalco with several good touches in reception/defense after being thrown out there suddenly.

indeed, came in and gave two perfect overhand passes to Christenson!

SLO won first VNL medal, congratulation!

    Mujanovic made the difference

congrats indeed! Mujanovic has grown so much within one NT season! The real difference maker for Slovenia is Soli - excellent coaching! Pity for Japan but choking when it matters is not new for Japan.

The US serve pressure and block defense is out of this world. Shoji is just incredibly accurate and Christensen is able to find all of his hitters! How lucky we will be to see a Poland-US final!

My surprise stand-outs this VNL cycle:

Ratihiry, Koput, Cajic, Guezen, Fersino (finally get to see her shine in NT), Jost, Lampkowksa, Brit Fransen, Timmer.

    My biggest flops:
CAZAUTE, Herbots, Manfredini, LAVARINI, Knollema, Ivanovic.

Welcome back Poulter (the best setter of this VNL cycle).

The final was enjoyable bearable, one of the best matches of this underwhelming VNL 2026. Brazil fought hard with strong block-defense (even AC had the save of the match - where is this defensive performance in FB??!!!). Julia B and AC did their jobs, but AC had some crucial errors at the ends of sets 2, 3 and 4, which were meaningful errors. Brazil would have very likely won with Gabi on court.

Turkiye was the better team today. Probably Turkiye would have won with more buffer in each set had Elif made some better decisions in key moments Santa swapped Cansu for Elif in some moments. We all know Vargas was a ghost neutralized in set 1 but was decisive in the remaining sets. Hande has lowkey redeemed herself with the last two weeks of this VNL. Gizem was the real hero of the match, creating all of the opportunities and setting the defensive tone for the team (and then, just give the ball to Vargas).

ECH will be a different story. Serbia is lurking, waiting to see who their opponent will be in the final….

It’s so crazy that this 2 handed push Nervini was called but the previous throw of Egonu was allowed

there was quite a lot of spin on the ball from Nervini - was called as a double touch and not catch-ball. I think the ref made the correct decision!

Orro and Fersino avoiding Antropova, giving all OOS balls to pos 4. But Sylla and Nervini have sent four OOS balls out. It’s not the day for Antropova… Velasco should bring in Egonu and leave Orro on court!
