About LOVB, I wonder if players get a say in which team they are going to play, or if it's all assigned by the league.

To be honest, I was kind of meh on LOVB because six teams just didn't seem enough to me to make it exciting, but now I'm actually looking forward to it. If they can make all the teams equally competitive, it could be really fun. And Folie is a great signing for sure.

But don’t forget during MBH’s time Haak was also playing in VB, and Haak was scoring, because of that MBH didn’t require to score a lot of points. With the current make up of VB that, is not the case anymore. Now Gabi has to score a lot of points, tell me how many times Gabi scored more than 30 points or more than 25 points or even more than 20 points this year? Maybe I am mistaking in here?

Look, Gabi is a very capable player no doubts. And she could play as OH 1, but in my opinion, she could be much more affective if she pairs with a power attacker such as Plummer or Arina, that’s what I believe.

Oh, I definitely agree that having Haak is essential. I meant that Gabi can be the highest scorer amongst the OHs, but I agree that the OPP should still be the first option in attack.

I think that one of Vakifbank's biggest problems these past two seasons is that they signed OHs who need to be covered in reception but don't really make up for it in attack. So they should have either gotten someone who can play a MBH-like role OR someone who's actually going to contribute offensively, like Arina.

Yeah, but MBH was a big and strong player, so she was good at blocking among other thing, if you play Gabi with Kelsey then Kelsey has to be a power attacker and I am not sure that will work, basically you will create somewhat similar issue as with Frantti.

2021/2022 MBH was very far from a power attacker. She would usually end the matches in single digits and I remember that she got a lot of criticism for it. It was only after she left that people started to appreciate what she was doing for the team defensively.

Gabi has played as an OH1 for years now, both in Vakifbank and the NT. She is a much more capable attacker than you're giving her credit for.

That is true but, in my opinion, Gabi should be playing as a second OH to get maximum benefit out of her. Because she is a very good player, there is a huge expectation on her to score. She could have been a great pair with Plummer or Markova.

Yeah but they would have Haak too. Gabi has always been an OH who scores a lot. The issue Vakif is facing right now is that they don't have an effective opposite (Thompson is good sometimes tbf, but she's very hit and miss) nor an effective passer to play alongside Gabi, so she's doing too many things at once.

2021/2022 was the best season in her career and she was playing alongside Haak and MBH. And current Kelsey > 2021/22 MBH IMO.

I’ve read that Bernardinho personally contacted her. It seems like over the top “bombastic” click bait but I’ve been reading about her to Sesc all over twitter for a week now

How good is Bernandinho compared to other coaches in terms of working with young players?
I know he is considered legend and he developed Gabi and Ana C amongst many, but Mihajlovic also worked with him and didn’t improve her passing (she is naturally bad passer really I know)

I honestly believe that Bernardinho is the best in the game when it comes to developing players. When you look at Sesc's current line-up, you see a lot of players who were once considered to be average/mediocre and are now playing very well: Laís (the best Brazilian libero after Brait IMO), Valquíria, Sabrina, Brie King. Roni Jones-Perry's passing and defense has also improved a lot.

I actually think Gabi/Kelsey would be the dream OH duo for Conegliano. A passing line up of Gabi/Kelsey/Moki with Wolosz setting would be virtually unbeatable. Too bad Kelsey is not staying.

The IG post from Volleyballworld suggested that it would only be for Brazilian fans, but I'm hoping it will be accessible world wide!

Then I don't really see the point of it tbh? We have all the matches on Sportv/Canal Volei Brasil, I don't see a lot of volleyball fans paying for a service to watch something they can already watch elsewhere

But maybe their target audience is Brazilian volleyball fans who don't want to have to listen to Marco Freitas (Sportv's very annoying commentator). I might be tuning in just for that reason tbh lol

Kelsey is playing very well indeed, but I don't think you can really compare her role in Conegliano to Gabi's role in Vakif.

Kelsey is the third option in attack and is almost always set in system. Meanwhile, Gabi is the first option and is the go-to player for out of system sets, especially at the end of sets. And she does that in addition to covering half the court in reception.

And this is not a drag on Kelsey by any means, she is pretty much the perfect OH2 in my opinion. But I think that everyone can agree that Conegliano is a much more balanced side that Vakifbank, and that should be taken into account if you want to discuss their individual performances.

I'm a few days late on this, but Volleyball World announced that they are indeed going to broadcast the Superliga starting from Feb 26.

The matches aren't on my schedule yet either, but if I look them up on the search bar, they show up.

I'm not sure in which countries it will be available, but I can't imagine it will be just Brazil.

Bici stepped on Lohuis' foot and she was subbed off towards the end of set 3... Manfredini and Colombo were playing as one (with the youngster rule), but luckily Casalmaggiore was allowed to let Colombo play instead of Lohuis at the net (Manfredini had just served).

Looks like Juliet will (try to) play in set 4 again

Oh so THAT's what is going on there. I was so confused watching Casal matches lol.

That seems like an interesting rule, how does it work exactly?

Yeah I know, but nothing is ever confirmed this early

I just talked about possibility, I don’t mind her taking 1 extra year out of Europe to develope, esepcially if she is gonna work with top level coach, she’s already so much better thanks to her coach in Fluminense

Her passing has improved massively, it's crazy. In the beginning of the Superliga she was subbed off a few times because of her reception, but now she's the best passer in the team.

It’s rumored that Uzelac wants to stay in Brazil for one more season, apparently Praia and Sesc RJ are interested

I don’t know if it’s just speculations but it could be really good for her, Praia will likely get Ze Robert for next season and Sesc has Bernandinho, both are legendary and she could develope into absolute top level by 2025/26 season

The insta page that posted this is not really the most realible, but they do get things right sometimes, so hopefully this is one of those times lol

    We love Uzelac <3
