Shimamura's slide is really looking to be a great attacking option so far. Wonder if she can stick it out until LA olympics

Japan has a surplus of good liberos. Nishizaki is also good!
-
Yukiko van Ryk is saving Japan's game.

Pornpun is playing well and the reception of Thailand is great this game. Let's see if Japan pulld a reverse sweep, they are messy this game.

So no Kitamado debut

I feel sad that Jaja/Sachi won't be able to play for Japan while other countries get to have one or more naturalized players. But I guess rules are rules. It just sucks that is is because of negligence. She could have literally made the Japan NT stronger as middle position is such a huge hole.

I am happy Nitura showed her attacking prowess in set 3. Hope she improves further as she is needed in the NT in the future. I am just scared that PH seems to not have a setter as excellent as Jia in the pipeline. Hope Jia still continues with the NT in the next 3 to 5 years!

She was feisty on defense. I love that. So, she came on for Solomon and didn't participate in reception (that I noticed). I figured she was OP
Does she play OH in club and whatnot? She is still in university. She will just be in her sophomore year in uni this year. She normally plays as OH but her uni team sucks so she is used to doing everything to win games lol

She is the future star for PH. She has a lot of rookie mistakes but her attack is really lethal. She is a good digger too but so so reception. It will be exciting for her to mature in her game but she needs to be better at reception as Belen is the anchor of the OHs now with her great reception and defence.

I ALMOST DIEDDDD! What an iconic way to win a game. I thought that was a fake challenge to break the momentum but it was a successful one. I am soooo stoked Alas Pilipinas won! I don't care if they lose against Vietnam in the finals. The fact that they are in the freaking FINALS makes me so happy.
-
PH needs to break Taiwan's floor defence as it is quite strong... anyway Taiwan's coach is cute haha
-
Markova to Imoco is more fitting IMO (she reminds me a lot of Zhu)
-
What a pleasant surprise that GXY is (allegedly) playing outside of China! Can she also drag LYY pls
-
OMG!!!! Freaking Alas Pilipinas won! Kazakhstan was Anarkulova-less but I did not expect the straight sets win at all and Kazakhstan not reaching 20 points. I am so stoked! Jia (the setter) is definitely gold and the liberos finally showed up today.
-
Most improved team is definitely Hong Kong. My mind is still stuck in the era that they are easy to win against, hence, I am surprised by their wins (good surprise). Did HK invest in their women's training and development more?
-
If PH wins against NZ and loses against Kazakhstan (which is most likely to happen), is it gonna be a battle of points against Iran to get the 2nd rank in their pool?

mintonette I enjoy an aggressive setter. Iwasaki likes to actually spike the ball if given a chance
This is why I bring up my Free Agent Fantasy Girl,Kyoka Ohshima (V2 Kurashiki)
73/184/10 @39.7% (in 83 sets, 28 matches)
For context:
Koyomi Iwasaki 30/72/2 @41.7% (in 163 sets, 44 matches)
Minami Yasuda (Kurobe) 44/117/5 @37.6% (169 sets, 44 matches)
I also love an attacking setter, it just makes them more exciting haha. Too bad Iwasaki would probably not be around during the LA Olympics (maybe that is why she is excluded?) unless ofcourse she pulls a Maja and still plays despite the age.
How is Minami Yasuda's setting skills? She is quite a tall young setter.
-
She was never good at that. Also the main reason Manabe yanked her and gave Iwasaki the chance since Iwasaki was the better offensive setter. Good timing, footwork better approach overall whereas Seki gets lost in an attempt to dump
Would be nice indeed if she develops that as well to add in the points arsenal of JP

I like how chill the new Korean coach of Iran. Great win for her as well.
TBH I am upset that Alas lost as they had multiple chances to win this. I kinda blame more the coaching staff though with the questionable subs...

What an intense game!
