Well by looking at the list it seems like Volleyball is most popular in Asia, Turkey and Brazil. Literally no players from rest of EU or NA are on the list.
I’m really surprised by the low amount of followers Egonu or Boskovic have.

I wonder which lucky team will get Serbia in their group. I think the fairest would be Serbia being in pool A but I i won't be surprised to see them dropping in the same group as Italy or Turkey
either way top 2 will go through anyway
Pool A: Thailand
Pool B: Italy
Pool C: Brazil
Pool D: USA
Pool E: Turkey
Pool F: China
Pool G: Poland
Pool H: Japan
EDIT: Drawing of pools for men's tournament will be streamed on the Volleyball World channel September 14th at 12:30 UTC. Date for women's draw is TBA.
What do you mean?
Will new players actually get a chance to play in the VNL next year? unlike what happened this year where they were all sent home early and not included in any games despite all the injuries.
Do I understand correctly that under: “There is also an unnamed country already tasked to host both 2027 championships.” the meaning is that the one country will host both, men’s and women’s WCH?
Yea. Philippines wanted to host both men’s and women’s tournament for 2025 but had to pull out from women’s due to ‘many changes and procedures’ as quoted by their federation president.
Dilay is a great blocker, great server next to her great technique. She should definitely get playing time in next vnl and should be our setter duo with Elif.
Another great talent is Begum kaçmaz (2007) who played against 2 year older players in this tournament. She is so quick at blocking at this age, it is incredible! She can easily fill Eda's shoes in a few years. She is at the same age Zehra was invited to senior NT. After playing with Dilay in Beşiktaş, I expect her to get a chance in VNL next summer.
Yeah but do you really think this will actually happen? especially after this years VNL roster disaster.
I thought there was rumours of Arina marrying a Turkish goalkeeper and getting a Turkish citizenship... and then they broke up shortly after 💀
Wasn't expecting this one 💀
Is HK bidding as HK or as China? The HK team is pretty bad...
Not 100% sure but I'd assume it's Hong Kong independently as China is not mentioned in any sources. The PNVF president named Thailand, Hong Kong and Vietnam as bidders after they withdrew their bid in March (after they secured to host the men's tournament). Indonesia also submitted a bid to co-host it.
He also mentioned that the host would be announced at April 2024 but nothing was announced. Thailand is the biggest favourite to host it (as a single host) thus far but we could also have multiple countries hosting it.
No more qualification and world cup means only 2 NT tournaments per year from now on.
Next quad will be:
2025 -> VNL -> WCS
2026 -> VNL -> ECS
2027 -> VNL -> WCS
2028 -> VNL -> OG
I think it’s better this way. Last year it was Club season -> VNL -> ECS -> OQT -> Straight into club season again which was a ludicrous schedule especially for CEV teams. No wonder Turkey, Serbia and Poland looked much weaker than last year, they had so much workload playing with the same rosters. Italy being the exception due to skipping last years VNL entirely and Mazzanti’s antics on dropping Egonu for most of the summer. The only players from last year were Sylla and Danesi so it makes sense they were fresher than the other 3. Very good management by Velasco.
Judging by this format it seems likely that all the top teams will to make it to the round of 16 which is where the actual tournament begins, obviously barring any upsets
If we assume all the big teams will be top seeded in the 8 pools there will be 1 good team like DOM/NED/THA in each pool and the other 2 will be significantly weaker teams.
Host: Thailand
Dates: 22 August – 7 September
Pools: 8 Pools of 4 teams (A-H)
Knockout: Top 2 teams of each pool advance to the round of 16
More excited for this than the olympics tbh
Claiming Boskovic is a level below the other top 3 opposites is a terrible bad take imo. I saw people commenting here that Egonu is finished before the NT season and look how that turned out.
Form is temporary class is permanent. All 4 of Boskovic, Vargas, Egonu and Haak are class. They have their ups and downs which is completely normal but you can’t undermine them. Boskovic is 27, not 33. She still has plenty of years to dominate.
What a domination by CEV teams after Tokyo.
VNL 2022 -> 🇮🇹
WCS 2022 -> 🇷🇸
VNL 2023 -> 🇹🇷
VNL 2024 -> 🇮🇹
PARIS 2024 -> 🇮🇹
VNL 2025 -> ??? 🇮🇹🇹🇷🇷🇸
WCS 2025 -> ??? 🇮🇹🇹🇷🇷🇸
If I add my two cents on this, I believe playing VNL is very important as well CL, and playing for Italian or the Turkish league. First of all, playing for CL and Turkish or Italian leagues prepares the player far better than playing for some other leagues. To understand the importance of the VNL don’t look back far. Who won the VNL and later the European Championship? Turkiye!! Who won the VNL and later the OG this year. Italy!! VNL is a perfect ground for getting ready.
Also iirc USA won the VNL before Tokyo too.
Italy did not let Turkey get away whenever Turkey were 2-4 points in the lead, insane confidence and winners mentality by the Italian girls and Egonu stepped up at times when it mattered the most.
The better team won, Italy definitely deserves the gold.
It's a crime that Korneluk is not playing for a big team in Italy or Turkey
More importantly how is Ilkin going to be able to look Melissa in the eye now? I can’t imagine the awkwardness.
Like girl stay in your lane, you don’t need to give any unnecessary takes like that… just focus on your volleyball.
Jfc
Ilkin Aydin is being shredded on social media by Turkish fans in regards to her comment a few years ago about not wanting a ‘Cuban’ on the Turkish National team.
Santarelli also getting smoked too for his decision Tugba -> Ilkin.
At this point Turkey doesn’t need any enemies when they have themselves…💀
A friend of mine who lives in Germany tells me that the Germans have a phrase to point out a defective or poorly made product: they say that "It's made in France"...
I don't know if they're right or not, but this seems to be the case to me ...
I guess this is right about the French then
Maybe they will put TVs on those pillars so the people behind them can watch the game from there 💀
