FIVB OLYMPIC WORLD QUALIFICATION (POR & GER) to be confirmed after March 8th.....as far as i know

I'm sick and tired of seeing this tournament being held in Asia forever. It would be nice if FIVB changed the WGP's formula. If there's not enough time for a 6-week preliminary round, my suggestion for the 3-week preliminary round is dividing the 12 participating teams in 4 pools, which woud have the same teams for all the 3 weeks. Each week, the 4 teams from each pool would face each other in a round-robin tournament, which would be held in a different country. These countries would be chosen based on the FIVB ranking. The top three teams from each pool would have the right of hosting a leg of the preliminary round before its fans.

For me, this new formula would be much better than the current one. Anyway, I have no hopes of seeing this happening.

WGP and WL are both promoted by money....the host cities shoulnt be chosen as FIVB ranking, on the contrary, the financial support and marketing potential are of most importance. thats why WL compitition committee requires many restriction to the candidate countries.

    make it complete........

    Results:

    1st: China x Cuba 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-12) (in Fuzhou)

    2nd: China x Cuba 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-17) (in Jinjiang)

    3rd: China x Cuba 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 23-25, 25-18, 15-11) (in Xiamen)

a moment ago, the cuban-chinese game just finished, china won 25-18,25-21, 25-12

line up: cuba = ruiz, cacarses, salie, sanchez, carrillo, santos

china: ruirui zhao, feng kun, zhou su-hong, yi mei wang, xue ming

carcases was never ever lined-up till now in this tournament, i think the main problem is her poor reception and defence...

long before, i got some news extending the number of participants in WGP, so i wrote to FIVB Competition Dep. asking if they were gonna introduce 4 more vacancies...but i got the reply like, they are not going to change the formula before 2008....

maybe we can look forward to some changes after beijing olympic.....maybe not... :drink:

Yeah....well, I think she will probably go to the olimpic games....well....I mean...just if she is to bad not to.....

And I also realized that Ramirez also didn't flight with Cuba team for this games in China!!!!Someone knows why?

Ramirez has been suffering from injuries/pains for quite a long time since the week after 2008 Cuba National Volley Championship. Calderon, Herrera are also in the same condition, thats why they three stay in Habana for recovery training separately...

    -------------------------------------------------------------

this is the 14-Roster for China Training and Russia Training:

Setter: Santos (just recovered from injury), Silie, Mesa, Cleger

    Wing Spiker:Carcases, Ruiz, Maso

Middle Blocker: Carrillo, Sanchez, Barros, Gonzalez, Silva

    Libero: Arredondo, Ortiz...

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

but Barros played as an OH and Mesa played as a L in the first 3 matches vs China.....they were not in the best, but it was all right.....

Qualification tournament for WGP 2009 will be played.
Qualification tournament for WGP 2010 won't be played (best 4 teams of ECH 2009 get qualify)

exactly.....the top 4 teams from IECH will qualify to the next year WGP, and the WGP Qualification is about to carry out every other year from this year (2008 )...

Apart from Poland which has auto-qualified, other top 5 teams from IECL 2007, plus a host country, will play a round robin tournament for the only 3 vacancies in WGP 2009

mroz fans will love these links....coz we can see all pictures about agata and her husband jacek.....

    it's fabulous, isnt it ?

but the problem is that i couldnt download any pictures in higher definition, not even enlarged them....the website requires an ID and PW to log in first, which is just out of my hand...can anyone help me out from this crap....thanks so much :)

well....exactly...liu and zhou are opposites...normally, only one of them can be the opposite to setter....but sometimes, liu doesnt need to stick to the bench until the coach's calling up...she has good defence and reception, she can substitute some back-zone player with poor defence

besides, zhou and liu both has chance to make their starting line-ups, which depends on their physical condition, adversary's characteristics and tactic requirements.

you have the point, lothie, but i am not so sure that china is strong enough to beat brazil and italy

feng kun just recovered, so is ruirui zhao; anf this year, i guess china is trying to have 2 spikers to receive, lets see what will happen in 08 Gp

2 spikers to receive....that never happens....Coach Chen got Yanan Liu as Opposite in order to strengten the protection capacity...Both Liu and Zhou are good receivers, either of which will release one spiker...

moreover, Liu can be a special defender as well..

china NT has just completed the Liga A 2007-08 last Saturday.
