Match MVP: HWANG Min-Kyoung (Hyundai E&C) www.youtube.com/watch?v=xraPMxR2rPQ, sports.news.naver.com/volleyball/...&id=371708&redirect=true
- Heungkuk became the 1st team to achieved 13,500 excellent/exact receptions with 43 from the match (currently with 13,511 excellent/exact receptions).
- Receptions were much better for all three of Heungkuk receivers but attack wise Heungkuk is still very lacking. Only LEE Jae-Yeong managed to score double-digit points (and also no spiking error). To me, it seems that Hyundai wasn't aggressive enough in this match, maybe because they took it as an easy win with Taylor SIMPSON not playing. Had Taylor played alongside Jae-Yeong in this match, Heungkuk might possibly have won the match.
Defencively, Hyundai looks so much better this season, particularly in reception. HWANG Min-Kyoung has been really solid in defence and also making decent point contributions too. I'm also really enjoyed watching LEE Da-Yeong played this season. Da-Yeong is the mood maker for her team and it's funny how she often bearhugs and lifts her teammates to celebrate after they win a point.

and thank you for always posting. can you also write you opinion on the goods and bads of both both teams regardless of winner. i just wanna know too. much thanks again
That's very disappointing indeed. I guess proposing to someone in a public place does bring bad luck after all.
But seriously, the next two matches could be vital to Heungkuk. Losing another 5 or 6 points might seal their fate in this season for good.
PS.
I bet posting this stuff on a bad day, might feel like shouting into the void. I really enjoy reading this summaries, those additianal links are also exceptionally helpful.
Thanks very much sir.
no problems, just doing what I can.
Yes, it's definitely disappointing for Taylor but to her family, it might have been the best luck. Before the season started Taylor came to South Korea and then returned to the US due to a family matter. During this time when she was back in the US, there were concerns in Korean media that she wouldn't return to South Korea to play because of family pressures. The articles stated that her family was very worried about her safety and was advising her not to go back to South Korea because Western media was spurning out headlines that war could break out in the Korean Peninsula.
It funny, from this article, Heungkuk is stating that it could take 3 weeks or around the middle of the 3rd round to find a replacement for Taylor. So by my calculation, the time that Heungkuk estimate to find a replacement and the minimum 1 month/4 weeks of rest that the doctors suggested for Taylor end is about the same.
heungkuk might really be done this season... i hope they bring in someone good and soon.
Even if it may be season over for Heungkuk, the bright side to this is they have a great chance of getting the 1st pick of the new recruits from both the foreign player tryouts and the rookie draft. The local media were stating that in the next season rookie draft there are many players with good potential (some of them played at the 2017 Girls' U18 Asian Championship (3rd place) and Girls' U18 World Championship).
Interestingly, before the season started some even suggested it was a great opportunity for a 7th women team to be established given that not many were drafted this season and little opportunity given to the rookies in recent years and made comparisons to like when IBK Altos was established.
But if Heungkuk season is going south early, I hope they would take this opportunity to give their younger players more game time. The experience will be beneficial in the long run. And unlike previous years, it is good to see that this season every team have given one of their rookies from this season draft some game time so early in the season.
PS Hani I'm not very confident in my opinions/insights regarding volleyball (I'm more of a numbers kind of guy) so forgive me if I don't always make comment on every match about each team pros and cons. I hope others might comment a little bit more and help make this thread more enjoyable .
