Transfer news 2010/11

  • Rolando Jurquin Despaigne is a zone 4 player. Also Olympiacos took for the second setter position Dima Fillipov.Young talent from Panathinaikos.

  • thank you :)

  • Next season the belgian blocker Matias Raymaekers play in Russian League
with the mesh of VC Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, where last season militated
americans David Lee and Ryan Priddy.

  • Roma was able to hold the blocker Viktor Yosifov. The bulgarian will be
an asset to the team coach Giani how central alongside Corsini, in the
    past also in Forlì.

  • Vibo Valentia have signed the hitter Metodi Ananiev. Born in Sofia in
1982, is currently engaged in the World League. Last season played in
    the Iran with Petrochimi.

  • Apart from Matias Raymaekers, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk signed Tuomas Sammelvuo (Finnish NT, attacker, 34-year-old, ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle). As gpanos7 already announced, they will fill the foreigners quota since David Lee and Reid Priddy changed their teams.

Meanwhile, the newcomers in the Italian Serie A2 Eurotec Gela took two really impressive players - Juan Carlos Barcala (Spanish NT, opposite, Pallavolo Padova) and Valdir Sequeira (Portuguese NT, opposite, CoprAtlantide Piacenza).

The IECL participant Budvanska Rivijera Budva signed Alexander Shafranovich (Israeli NT, attacker, 27-year-old, Montpellier). The team strengthened their squad for the new season after taking Veljko Petkovic, Konstantin Cupkovic and Francesco Biribanti already. Boyan Yordanov is also rumoured to join Budva, but I haven't seen any confirmation yet.

Last, Iban Perez (Spanish NT, opposite, 26-year-old, CAI Voleibol Teruel) moves to Unicaja Almeria.

Ananiev is born in 1986 :)

  • On Itas Diatec Trentino's official website Valentin Bratoev (Bulgarian NT, attacker, 22-year-old, Quasar Massa Versilia (Serie A2)) is introduced as a new player. He will be a substitute of Kaziyski and Juantorena and will replace Herpe who left to join Marmi Lanza Verona. I am very happy that another young and talented Bulgarian goes to play in Italy, Vibo Valentia already took two national team players, the Bulgarians in Trentino are 3 now, Sokolov grew a lot since he joined the world club champions, I hope the same will happen to Bratoev, he has an amazing serve and will be very useful during the long season.

  • Bratoev broked the record in A2 scoring 9 aces in one game. He can decide sets and games with his serve and Trento count on this for their players.

  • Another blocker for Verona. This is the slovenian Alen Pajenk (23.04.1986), comes from Volley Bled.

  • Kournetas Vasilis (GRE 02.08.1976) setter ex-Lokomotiv Belgorod is going to sign with EA Patras.

  • The japanese
spiker Yu Koshikawa remain in Padova for another season. The polish
player Michal Kubiak, spiker he too, go on loan to Warsaw.

  • The rosters of all teams in the Italian Serie A1 have been released today, they are available in www.volleyball.it . As usual the Italian championship will be very strong, with quite competitive teams. There are, however, some surprises. I thought Robert Horstink will actually join Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo, but it seems like he will stay in Treviso one more year, which will definitely increase the class of the team. I guess no one knows for sure where exactly Leandro Vissotto Neves will play next season. Recently he said he would fulfill his contract with Trento, but I don't see his name in the team list. Maybe it's a mistake and he will stay in Italy, but now Trentino will have 3 great opposites - Vissotto, Stokr, Sokolov. The other interesting moves are:

Dante Boninfante (Italian, setter, CoprAtlantide Piacenza) returns to Sisley Treviso. With Pierre Pujol and Horstink this team will be very dangerous both in Serie A1 and the IECL. Also, Jiri Kovar (Italian, attacker, 21-year-old, Marmi Lanza Verona) joins Sisley Treviso.

Emanuel Kohut (Slovakian NT, middle-blocker, Sisley Treviso) and Jiri Popelka (ex-Czech NT, attacker, BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte) move to Andreoli Latina.

Marco Fabroni (Italian, setter, 28-year-old, Andreoli Latina) will be the back-up setter of Miko Esko in Casa Modena.

Leano Cetrullo (Italian, opposite, 23-year-old, Nava Gioia Del Colle) will be the back-up opposite of Mauro Gavotto in Acqua Paradiso Monza. It's gonna be his first season in Serie A1.

Andrea Tomatis (Italian, attacker) will be the fourth choice as an attacker for M.Roma Volley. He is more famous among the beach volleyball fans, a regular representative of Italy in Swatch-FIVB World Tour. He also used to play for Perugia in A2 some years ago.

Tine Urnaut (Slovenian NT, attacker, CoprAtlantide Piacenza) switched to Marmi Lanza Verona. He comes in to replace Robert Kromm who is rumoured to go to Russia and play for Ural Ufa, but this is still unconfirmed.

  • Sorry but urnaut stays in ZAKSA Poland - he signed the contract and Verona wanted to "borrow" him but Zaksa declined...
