As for Glass... For me it's a big shock :!: :!: I don't understand McCutcheon philosophy of the seter...First Lloyd was cut, now Glass...Glass is a player who can play in starting six instead of Berg and USA still can win the OG :!: Thompson is a player only for a double substitution...It's risky to take her. I hope Berg will be healthy :aww:

Totally agree! I'm OK with Scott and Haneef over Bown and Metcalf, but Thompson going is a big big surprise, and I'm not sure if it's a good decision. If anything happens to Berg, Glass would be a much better option, and I really didn't find Thompson very impressive when she entered during WGP matches, except for her defense and serves, but that should not be the main criteria for a setter...

She had an injury on her shoulder and stopped playing for her junior NT... Then there was Bjelica, the big junior serbian star.. so.. But as far as I know now she is healthy

OK, I didn't now about her injury...I saw her with Vizura in CEV Cup 2010/11 and she was really good there, but after that her performances were not so good anymore...if she can play like in 2010 she will be a good player for sure :)

Agree about Plchotova but I like Pastulova as well  only problematic positions libero and setter, both are very mediocre

By the way, I really don't believe that any of Final-Four participant get a ticket for GP in September if Germany, Turkey, Italy and Russia would play with their normal roster  Especially if FIVB will give only 5 spot for Europe again

Probably it will be 6 spots for Europe, maybe one of them could be a wild card for Poland as usual, so in the final tournament there would be 3 more tickets (if both EL finalists get one). The problem of Russia, Italy and Turkey will be that it will be very hard to find motivation to play another tournament after OG, also depending on the performance there. I remember in 2008 the GPQ also was after OG and Italy and Russia did not use their best players but already some young ones who now are important players like Bosetti and Kosheleva. Either way I'm pretty sure Germany will take one of the tickets, they really want to play GP as preparation for ECH 2013 at home, and they have the whole August to prepare for the tournament while the other teams play OG, and we saw in GP how well Germany plays with enough time to prepare...

Concerning the number of participants, I expect 6 with round robin format...the question is just how they will choose those 6, by world ranking or by ranking of last ECH or whatever...RUS, ITA, TUR and GER can be sure to have a spot, SRB too if they don't qualify via EL, POL too if they don't qualify via wild card...apart from that I think NED and BUL could probably play there.

Yes you got it right.. he said that Veljkovic and Djerisilo might be back in time for the OG, and Malagurski but nothing certain

Even if Malagurski recovers in time, she didn't play volleyball for 8 months or so, and she doesn't have years of experience to make up for that, so I think it would not make sense to take her to London (and maybe risk another injury...).
She's still young, she can easily play in 2016 and even 2020, of course it will be hard for her to miss OG after her great performances last summer, but the future belongs to her!

The news about Radenkovic was already some time ago on volleyball.it, she will be 2nd setter behind Ferretti. So I guess the news about Klisura is true as well, I hope she can regain the form she had some years ago, unfortunately so far she's been one of the players who didn't manage (yet) to turn from a "talent" into a really good player.

Guidetti wrote in his twitter that Schwerin hired Alessandro Beltrami (NT assistant coach and last seasons coach of Chieri) as "technical director". I don't know what exactly this means because as far as I know, Teun Buijs will remain as head coach, but it will surely help to have another good coach with the team :)

Yes of course, He risked the loss of Gold to decide between Scott-Bown

But if is like You wrote and only 3 MB will go- Bown will stay at home.

Gold in WGP was never important to him, otherwise he would have taken the starters there from the start.

It would be hard for Bown to be excluded, but I agree that Scott's performance right now seems a little better...but her age can be a risk.

Why didn't She play in match USA-China?

Because her place in the team is secure, but Bown and Scott fight for the last place, so Mc Cutcheon wanted to see them both in action. Harmotto secured her place with her performances in the first 2 weeks, you will see ;)

Harmotto is without experience in extremal bad situation on court so She won't go.

I say in korean language- Bow, Aki and Sco.

Harmotto played a fantastic season in Modena and a fantastic GP, after preliminaries she was best blocker with big distance and she always started when all the best players were there, so I'm sure she will be in London.

I think CZE will reach the final...they won most of the preliminary matches against NED and have improved a lot since Parisi became coach. I agree that they have a lot of potential and playing GP could help their development a lot, actually many of their players are still under 25 so they have a lot of time to grow. IMO they just need a better setter (Smutna looks promising, maybe she can be starter soon) and also at least one more good MB, Monzoni and Pastulova are OK but not great...maybe Plchotova could help the team for a few more years, I think she's the best Czech MB.

    Aghayeva = Matiasovska, right?

Is Ssuschke's transfer official? If yes, good choice for her, I hope Loko can sign some other good players to be competitive also with Rabita and Azerrail :)

Köpenick's captain and OH Ilona Dröger postpones her family plans another year and will play another season, her 8th for Köpenick  She has been with the team ever since they play in 1st league.

According to reports in German press (quoting Chinese press), Chinese players avoided eating pork meat during the final round of WGP because they were afraid that it could be contaminated with some chemical substance (clenbuterol) that could cause doping suspicions. According to Yu Juemin, this has weakened the players and was the reason for their bad performances.

This is probably the craziest excuse I've ever heard, and it actually sounds like a news that could be published on 1st April

Someone has mentioned about Edisson cup which will be played in Italy. Who will be the participants? As far as I remember, the participants: Italy, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Dominic Republic. Is there any official statement by Italian federation?

Germany does not practice in the whole July, so I don't think they will participate unless this tournament is after OG (which is unlikely too...).

6th place might be the highest rank ever for German team :obey: But unfortunately after OG we will probably drop behind SRB, RUS and TUR again and maybe also behind DOM depending on their performance in OG :(
