    TSV Düdingen - Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen 0:3 (16:25, 23:25, 21:25)

TSV Düdingen: Lakovic, Sundström, Lejczyk, Mueller, Otasevic, Munoz, Salgado (L). Also: Belli, N.Dietrich.
Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen: Becker, Senn, Jarotta, Frankova, Alphonse, Winter, Haussener (L). Also: Ayer.

TSV Düdingen without: Vanis, Cipri and Heidrich. Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen without: Tschopp.

Best Player Awards: Nadine Alphonse (Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen) and Lina Sundström (TSV Düdingen).

My impressions (as a spectator of this match): It was a very important match for both teams. Both of them had to win this match to stay in touch with the fifth place (the Top 5 teams will play in the Playoff Round). Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen was clearly the team with the better serves, causing permanent problems in Düdingen's reception. Therefore Düdingen rarely could play fast balls with their MB's and their attacks were quite often blocked. On the other side, the reception of Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen was solid most of the time, so their young Swiss setter Jarotta had the opportunities to play fast balls with the two MB's (Becker, Alphonse), which she did very well.

that is crazy! not that i cant believe of their success they just seemed to be a completely different level team. it makes sense tho if there was a coaching change. wonder if they are looking for any new players

You can find the team rosters here on page 23. Their new coach is Nicki Neubauer, he was assistant coach of Kanti Schaffhausen before, maybe you remember him. Düdingen announced this week, that they have signed with an additional Swiss player (Joana Heidrich). She will play some matches for them until the end of the year. I don't know if they are looking for another player. I'm just a fan who attends some matches and posts here in the forum some infos about the league. I'm not an insider and also don't have any special relations to a club.

I read an interesting and slightly shocking report about Hamburg's Vendula Merkova today. She says the high expectations after being top scorer last season are very difficult for her, as child she always stood in the shadows of her older sisters and she suffered a lot from being a tall girl, a doctor predicted she would become over 2m tall and she is happy that it didn't happen. She says she has very little self-confidence and is always pessimistic, volleyball is the only thing she feels she is good at. It's also said that the interview was made in English, even though she understands German very well she is afraid of speaking it/making mistakes :|
I really don't think such a psyche is good for a volleyball player, especially for one who is supposed to be the key player in her team :S

This journalist should be happy, that Merkova has talked with him (or her) about these obviously quite personal things. Therefore, IMO it's rather weird for a journalist to "complain" at the end of the article, that she hasn't done the interview in german. She should have the opportunity to express herself in a language which she is comfortable at (especially if she wants to avoid some misunderstandings). Translation is the job of the journalist. IMO, this is not a sign of little self-confidence (like the journalist wrote), it's just "normal".
