OMG - Thank you !!!
"It’s not just the things they say, it’s how they said it and their facial expressions and eyes show their sincerity, and perhaps a sense of fulfilment"
I could see that, and they seemed so grateful to me for the opportunity. That's what really touched me.
No worries !!! I like the clip so much I have seen it 3 times....

havent really paid attention to her. how about her performance during CVL?
Do you mean Mei Xiaohan the setter ? We didn’t get to see much of her during the CVL because for some reason, matches involving the Shandong team were seldom streamed ... I only saw two matches in the round of 6, when they beat Guangdong and then Liaoning. They placed 5th overall. Mei is not very consistent and not as accurate as Ding Xia. If she was, I suspect Shandong could have achieved a higher position, because they do have some good hitters. Her main advantage is her height, around 185cm (6’1”) and her reach. She was an outside hitter before so she will take the occasional swing...which often catches the other side off guard. I will describe her as an attacking setter. She is also more youthful when compared to Ding Xia, Yao Di and Diao Lingyu.
Hope that helps 🙂

sitenoise .. just revisiting this post.. here are short translations of what the two Macao players said..
Ms Liang An Ying (the one in the photo) “ I am 24 y.o. I graduated from Uni 2 years ago and I am working in the communications and media industry. This is the first time we are playing a Chinese team. I am so happy and excited, just imagine, playing a big star like Ding Xia “
Ms Zhou Jiamin “Volleyball is my passion, I have been playing VB since secondary school. We trained after school. I graduated a year ago and I’m a PE teacher in a school now. The whole school, including the principal encouraged me to participate in this tournament.
It’s an opportunity of a lifetime and I will never forget the experience “
It’s not just the things they say, it’s how they said it and their facial expressions and eyes show their sincerity, and perhaps a sense of fulfilment
The Macao team will be meeting Zhu Ting and the Henan team in a few days time, I suspect the girls will want a few souvenir photos taken with Zhu

Tianjin defeated Shandong in 5 sets today.
For Tianjin, setter Yao Di’s performance was inconsistent but Li YY displayed some of her lightning fast spiking. Yuan Xinyue’s blocking made a big impact, especially towards the end of the 5th set when the score was 14-14. She made two crucial blocks to help end the match.

Damn everyone seems so tall

There is an alternate site for TJ vs. SD match....

Now ... that kind of thing just sets my heart aflutter. Macau is beautiful, the 3–25 score notwithstanding I hope they win the whole thing
they have won...the hearts of many people

That weibo link just offers me to download apps, or something, but somehow I landed here https://m.weibo.cn/u/221197943…011&lfid=1076032211979435 which seems useful, but then wants me to log in to see more than a handful of posts. I can't quite determine who won all the matches last night, tho but I see Zhu Ting set a record with 46 points
on that weibo site:
that means stats are out there somewhere.
Julian Chow I'm english only but do okay with an army of translation tools
I will try to post updated scores when they become available....😃

The Macao team, whose players range from 160cm to 175cm in height must have been shocked to see the size of the Liaoning players. But nevertheless the girls, who are mostly college students and recent graduates and their coaches (PE teachers) did enjoyed the occasion. For them, winning or losing is less important than the experience they got. Volleyball is for everyone. Play it, watch it or just follow it, as long as you’re happy doing it.

Zhu Ting scores 46 points to help Henan overcome Liaoning in 5 sets.
Btw if you do a search on 全运女排 on YouTube (copy and paste) a bunch of short video clips like the above, will appear. They’re fun to watch.

Is there seriously no official web site with ... at least scores of the matches?
https://weibo.com/u/2211979435?is_all=1
Weibo..sports/Volleyball has news, scores, short video clips etc etc (but no stats). They’re all in Chinese...there could be an option button for English somewhere. I’m guessing, maybe you can read Japanese (maybe even Chinese also) If so, you should be able to follow these articles.

Personally I prefer China to abandon the tournament, not worth to take the risk when OG is so close. Or just send a team that won't play in OG.
yes, I feel the same way 🙂

This match has a good, prof camera but the match is uneven Tianjin is too strong
yes, the 2 matches took place in the same venue, but Tianjin vs Fujian was broadcasted by a Tianjin TV station whereas Shandong vs Beijing looks like a live stream done by a person playing with his mobile. Well, I suppose something is better than nothing.
Agreed, the earlier match was one sided
-
The Shandong vs. Beijing match have just started. This live streaming is not quite professional standard, reason being the camera couldn’t be moved back sufficient enough to capture the full court. The commentator said this court was normally used for training purposes.

Happening now..... Tianjin. Vs. Fujian

Only Jenny knows (or maybe she isn't sure...)
Most fans are predicting that the A team will show up.
I’m not sure about the A team showing up. The VNL is 25 May - 25 June, and the Olympics starts 23 July. Quarantine can be anything up to 2 weeks, even longer if someone on the same flight returns a positive test for Covid. This means players need to arrive in Tokyo by early July.
Also, in previous VNL there are several stops and coaches are able to field a different group of players each time. I’m not sure how many players are allowed this time, but I don’t think it’ll be a large group...maybe 14 -16 players. The team managers probably won’t want to exhaust their A team or risk injuries.
However, participation would also be beneficial as the national team have gone more than a year without international matches.

That's sounds good, her development seems to be going well.
China needs more options at opposite since Gong doesn't have a suitable backup for the future.
yes, prior to this the national selectors have not looked at her seriously.
