I think the biggest reason for her becoming less aggressive would be to prevent getting seriously injured. It's just unlike her to hold back when she was the one always slamming into things and ruining those barrier thingies lol

The whole too high/too low discussion is over my head, but maybe Haruka's toss got lower when she stopped jumping? I had to do a double/triple take to be sure it was Miyashita in that video. She isn't like that any more. What a beautiful connection with Miyu. It has that "I know what you like" quality

I wonder if setters that jump too much are prone to spinal injuries. Sato also suffered from that and Takeshita was saying something about being injured at some point but I don't recall what it was

There's another setter in that video, the one with long hair...

Miyashita was noticeably pushed aside by late 2017 or early 2018? when Tominaga was main with Tashiro and Sato. I don't remember the exact timeline of changes anymore.

Saori for one wasn't much of a jumper so she didn't need a super high toss. Miyashita took advantage of Nagaoka's freak whack back in those days.

Another girl at that camp, while she was still in junior HS, Airi Furukawa:

She's a 184cm 2nd year highschooler at Shimokitazawa Seitoku (so she will probably end up with Toray). First time I've seen her play was in the recent Inter-High games. I thought she would be Mai Irisawa dorky, but she looked a lot better than that. Doesn't look tough at all, but at least she's tall and seemingly coordinated. I'd trade a few cms for a little Ohno sisters toughness

Someone said she might be half-black or something but nothing about that girl looks black

The concern I have about Maja is if she’s willing to put in the necessary work. Going forward with a different team, the VNL becomes so important to build team chemistry but I’m not sure she can really be bothered with tournaments like that anymore. I don’t blame her: she’s 37 and it’s a long season but just turning up for World Championships and Olympics won’t work anymore.

Given her age, I wonder for how long she still intends to play

I think it's a good thing she went to PFU. Coach's personality aside, it's almost certain she's going to be a starter there than join a higher ranked team only to be benched.

But when Mayu went to Toray they didn't bench her. I doubt any team with a promising NT hopeful will bench a star in the making.

sean1 I ...didn't realize it could be interpreted that way but you guys get it

Why did she go to PFU? Will they be able to train her properly there? seems like an odd choice. PFU's coach is an absolute narcissist who feels the need to insert himself in everything the players do.

Wait since the Asian Championships are happening on October will Yoshihara continue with the existing squad or will she have to form a new squad? Who is the assistant coach? And who will be JT's coach?

How do we know that they're not going to change the dates again? but if it does clash with V League, there isn't enough time to choose outside of the wide roster. Yoshihara will have to make that decision asap so they can train properly for the NT instead of with their respective clubs.

I don't know when Tashiro is leaving for France.

I'm not against Foluke playing in Japan, just maybe not in Saga. It's kinda anticlimactic for a gold medalist to return to a club without any palpable strengths. They were already criticized for having an old age range while the rest of the teams have mostly younger players. Saga ranked 7th or 9th...can't remember but they're not a top team anymore.

I don't see Foluke coming back. At this point, she should be enjoying family life already. I doubt Saga will get any stronger by next season, does she really need to go through all that. Also VLeague hasn't updated Valdes on PFU's roster but Tahara is already on there.

Will Araki still play in VL before officially retiring? over on the men's side, Shimizu or whatever his name announced his retirement before the closing ceremony even happened.

This better be an entirely different team under Yoshihara. If the only thing they've got going for them is relying on the K-I-K trinity of Koga, Ishikawa and Kobata then they're not gonna make it far
