the problem is manabe has other plans. mayu and koga are not that kind of duo. there's no way koga has no say in manabe's lineup, just as ishikawa had a say in yanagida's exclusion. she is captain after all. koga is especially very vocal about what needs to change it's evident in that "all 4 _______" cam that jva releases after every leg. you should watch it if you haven't seen it already so you get what i'm talking about.

it also didn't help that nakada forced her to be kurogo's support so this time around she probably doesn't want to be in that position again and be mayu's support
But Koga and Mayu playing together doesn't automatically make Koga a side character unlike during Nakada's time where it's more important that Kurogo does the bare minimum while the rest covers her. It was made very clear that she was given the task to lead this team and she can do exactly that with Mayu. So what's the problem?

Isn't it ironic that every time they have a big match against a top team Koga isn't the one saving them instead it's Mayu? I don't have anything against Koga, I'm not criticizing her as the captain idc about that stuff but you can't convince me that it's thanks to her that this team is able to hold it's head up. She's not about that KIM or Zhu or Saori life that Manabe is making her out to be.
But as many of you already pointed out, it doesn't make sense for Manabe to separate her from Mayu. If they played together more often especially against more difficult opponents their chances could be a lot better than the 2-3/3-2s we're seeing.
Wada is still an npc. I refuse to get too attached to NPCs after what happened to Kojima.

Before VNL started Fuji TV had a #dayoff feature of Irisawa now they're featuring Shibata so I'm guessing she's coming. Last year Fuji TV was not heavily involved with them women's team but since Olympics is next year they have lots of mini features on the way.

At 2–8 in the match last night, after DOM blocked almost everything, Clayton, and whoever, start talking about DOM's serve pressure ... because, ya know, it would explain that Japan has been out of system and can't score. But if you watch the match:
Koga lands serve 1 on Seki's head (Rally, then Hayashi gets blocked)
Nishimura lands serve 2 on Seki's head (Koga gets blocked)
Koga boinks serve 3, Clayton announces "Japan is out of system" (Hayashi scores)
Nishimura lands serve 4 on Seki's head (Rally, Koga scores)
Inoue B- Passes serve 5 (Rally. Pass didn't lead to DOM block because Japan was out of system)
Nishimura C passes serve 6 (Inoue gets blocked but boinked her own block coverage - call it a draw) <<-- BINGO
Nishimura A passes serve 7 (Koga gets blocked on back court attack, hardly an OOS play)
Nishimura boinks serve 8, (Hayashi had to set Inoue who gets blocked) <<-- BINGO

speaking of this clayton guy he never gets his commentary right. the most excited i've heard him is during the time shimamura chased after a ball which was really the bare minimum but japan eventually scored it. it wasnt even like a foot save or anything she was just running towards the ball and was able to pass it to i think seki or koga

Yoshino Sato is never going to happen. I wanna see Yoshino Nishikawa instead.
both nishikawa sisters are very hip yuki especially. yoshino nishikawa is quite popular among koreans. if yuki survives being in the a-team she too could be popular in the future.
unfortunately i dont see the likes of fukazawa if she gets over her slump to be a big stan attractor in the future. nakashima? will be saga's next shinnabe both in skills and likeability. i feel like kurogo has faded after mayu came along so i dont know what'll happen to her.

If you think about it Mayu has not gotten a break since WCH. She went head on into V League as she explained "out of frustration". It makes sense to preserve her health. She seems the type to not stop unless she's forced to. It's better than her appearing as a sub. Personally I feel like Koga should also take it easy and let the newer additions + Inoue take this week but I understand that being one of the aces playing at home, it's mandatory for her to participate. I hope things go smoothly for her this time no more accidents. Same goes for Nagaoka.

She couldve been told not to overexert herself there so she can be in good condition with the NT just a guess. None of the Suntory players did the same but they had a foreign player with them. Van Hecke left them asap
