Well, very good move by Karch changing the OH positions. Now I'm wondering if he's really going to use the double sub with Carlini and Cuttino in crucial matches.

Korea is not it, the twins wouldn't even have made a difference if you ask me and if anything are lucky to not be part of this team lmao. At least they had the last laugh.
We all know losing Kim was the biggest loss for Korea however imo before the twins the MBs Hyojin and Suji are a forgotten duo that's really missed in this team as well.
Exactly. Especially Hyojin Yang. She was imo the 2nd best blocker in the whole Asia, only behind Ni Yan, The Great Chinese Wall. Korea suffered a lot with several core players retiring at the same time, without having others with enough international experience and unfortunately not being that great prospects.

Wow! Unfortunately, I was only able to watch the tie break but it alone was already amazing. This game was very intense and high level. Sasipaprom was a great surprise! Glad that a new OH is stepping up in Thai NT. Chatchu-on is so good ofc. Thatdao showing how important she's for the team. A very good teamwork. Congrats! As someone said, that's a Thai win and not a Turkish loss. A pity that such a good game (the very best from this first round) ended with a service error
How many of yuou guys from here are in the hall? How is it? I read that some of you were complaining about the noise. I'm especially curious to know how it's been going on in practice. In a moment, it seemed the first referee wasn't able to hear a timeout ask and complained.
Just to finish, happy that all the Puerto Ricans were able to travel arrive safe and sound at least.

I think RUS would go 15-0, maybe 15-1 or 15-2 in sets
Sure they'd definitely be the strongest team in this group, but Türkiye, Poland, Dominican Republic and also Thailand could win at least a set against them and even win. Only Korea with its current team I can't really see giving such a resistance.

Croatia seems to have found its game from the second set. Even if Fabris is not yet in her best shape, the team is doing very well together. On the other side, Poland hasn't get their rhythm. Their MB and OH are exactly the opposite from each other, but they need to improve in their fundamentals which they clearl lack,

I got to watch only tie-break, Germany looked quite solid there. What was the starting line-up? I was surprised to see Strubbe on court.
Brazil started with Macris -Kisy, Gabi - Rosamaria, Carol - Gattaz and Nyeme the normal starting 6).
Germany: Käestner - Drewniok, Orthmann - Janiska, Weitzel - Cekulaev, Pogany. There were some substitutions throughout the game ofc and many players had the chance to play like Tainara, Julia Kudiess, Roberta, Pri Daroit, Lorenne, Emonts, Strubbe and Alsmeier.

Italy may have a choice between the strongest (if they win) and the weakest (if they lose) playoff draw, so even though I'm not so sure what they'll do, an option for losing it on purpose seems 'reasonable', unless the Netherlands defeats Iran 3-0, then Dutch team may be ahead of France due to point ratio (and play against 3rd-seeded team, when Italy as for now is a favorite to be seeded as #3).
If Serbia loses against Tunisia, they can get Turkey/Ukraine in 1/8 and Slovenia in 1/2 as the 7th-seeded team. The problem is Italy can lose on purpose as well, so it would make a complete mess in a draw.
I think that Serbia will defeat Tunisia convincingly, and then Italy will have really difficult choice to make.
Oh. This format is very interesting, but way too crazy somehow. We have to make some maths and I'm terrible at that, so I prefer to basically just watch the matches and wait. I left this to you guys lol

Kelsey needs to be moved to OH2. There are way too many runs given up when she is the only attacker in the front row and has to be taking swings on high balls.
you can look at runs in each of the sets that Turkey won and see where their run came. Its usually in one of those rotations
Agree. I noticed that too in these last 2 matches. And that's not as issue, as long as Annie will keep running to position 2 anyways.
But Turkish people, a question: how your country's name is pronounced? Because the broadcaster kept saying "TurkayEH" and I personally thought it was something like "TürkiEH".

I know Canada is in process of renovation, but these performances were disappointing. I don't think they are going to achieve anything with such a team. Cuba is already ahead of them in Norceca. On the other hand, it's always good having new contender teams and Türkiye is growing a lot. Well deserved. Also, it's showing that some teams which weren't in VNL would add much more to the competition than the ones that still are there.
Also Argentina seems not only to be out of shape but also has lost its self confidence. Let's see how they'll be playing in the rest of the competition.
I don't think Italy and Serbia will lose on purpose. Although there is still one spot left, Canada will certainly not go further even if they can grab it.

True. This lineup would certainly not work in many cases, especially in the most important games during WCH, but it's a desperate move. Derya was the best player in these friendlies for Turkish side and it's good to see the other MBs having a chance to play. I din't know Ayçin too much, but she has potential. So, what's left for Gio is deciding the backupp setter between Sila and Elif and the libero between Aylin and Ayça.
For USA's side, I think Karch decided his 14 athletes. I still think Poulter's connection with the MBs is not the bet yet but they have time to improve. I just wish Kelsey had some rest. She's the most important player of this team, not only due to her experience, also because I can't see any other OH having the same role as her with such technique. That said, I really love Alli Frantti. She's very athletic and her approach reminds me a lot of Hills one, but she's more aggressive than the former player.
