Because Adana is a more industrialized and crowded city compared to Aydin&Bolu, and Çukurova is one of the main districts of Adana. When you look at the stats: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…_Turkish_provinces_by_GDP

Adana doubles Aydin and it is 6 times bigger than Bolu. So I expect Çukurova as a representative of Adana to have a bigger budget in Sultanlar Ligi and as I mentioned above they can attract more sponsors since they are from a richer area. Of course my guesses are just on my expectations judging by the stats.

Nuh, there's no such correlation. Kuzeyboru is from one of the smallest cities in Turkey but they invest way more than clubs from Ankara for instance. Also İzmir is 3rd biggest city and with a lot of rich sponsors but they haven't been in Sultanlar ligi for a long time.

Similar situation with male teams: Cizre one of the poorest and least developed area of Turkey but they made a team that reached 8th place in the ranking which is a big success for a team just promoted to Efeler ligi👏👏

I don't like Ilbank qualifying either. Adam voleybol still has a chance, if they win 3-0 or 3-1 against Ilbank (which is unlikely). Then they will hope that Cukurova loses more sets than they do against Karsiyaka.

It will be very complicated if Adam wins 3-0 tomorrow and Cukurova wins 3-0 too. Then 3 teams will have two 3-0 wins. I guess next thing to check will points ratio lol which will be scary for all 3.

I'd rather have ilbank than Adam volleyball. I don't think such local teams add much to the league. They invest one or two years and then they disappear when the major of the city changes 🤦 we have many examples of such local teams that promote and disappears suddenly.

I prefer teams like ilbank or karayolları. Although they relegate/promote often, they always invest to their youth academy. They raise new talent (yaprak erkek is from ilbank academy, Aycin is from Karayolları) those are clubs with a history. Their contribution to Turkish volleyball is better than random local clubs

I won't be surprised if Dimitrova moves to GS to replace Alexia. For PTT, Dimitrova to Bruna is downgrade. Losing Amanda is also really bad.

Agreed, Amanda was one of the best transfers of this season, I wish she would stay in Sultanlar ligi.

I wonder if Helene Rousseoux is staying in PTT. She was injured in big part of season but she could be very useful if she goes back to her pre-injury shape.

    Dimitrova to GS makes sense

    Another tie break.

    Hatay 2-2 Akkuş

    31-30 and still going

Akkuş won 33-31! The nerves! I can't believe they won two very very long tie breaks in two days in a row:obey: I don't know anyone in their roster except their setter Onur Soydan. Pity that they won't promote to Efeler Ligi if TURSAD will win over Hekimoğlu

I mean it's really isn't matter of think. The rule exist, and because of that rule Uzelac didn't play the WCH u18 in Mexico last year. Also Veljkovic played several categories in the same year (tbh i don't know it is 2 or 3) but that was like 15 years ago, lot of time for rules to change. Even serbian federation didn't know for this rule, so they fired the coach after he accused them for missworking (of course everything happened much more subtly, this is just my "malicious" interpretation).

It's on serbian, but first paragraph after title, text in red, few pictures and "Izjava" (statements) talk about it.

I should have said, it didn't exist before but it sounds like a new rule they implemented. I dont think it is necessary though, I think youngsters should be allowed to play as many tournaments they can. Most of the time when they play with older generation, they are bench players anyways

Arina is renewing her contract with Fenerbahçe :drink: Ana Cristina and Lazareva are confirmed:sos:

Didn't Arına already signed 3 years contract when she was transferred to fener anyway?

I think Meryem can go to GS since there's no good local Opp who can play there. Or maybe backup in THY since Polen is moving to Kuzeyboru

I feel sad not being able to see Russia play this year given their improved chances this time but I'm also aware that there are much bigger things at play here than my love for them. Russia not being able to participate in this year's VNL and WCH could drastically affect their world ranking. :( Just hope that this senseless war in Ukraine comes to an end real soon.

I'm not sure if this will indeed affect their world ranking. With new system, a team only lose points if they lose a game an opponent lower than their ranking, but not playing any games in theory shouldn't do any harm.

I agree that not having this team in WCH will be a loss. Not sure about their medal chances but they could have definitely been one of the quarterfinalists.

If this sanctions towards Russian teams would continue for many years, I wouldn't be surprised Arina's naturalization. She is very young and she will be playing in Turkey for many years

    Switzerland-Germany-Italy-Turkey

That's how the path usually works

Indeed the most promising ones start directly from Italy. I don't remember if it ever happened that a good player started her career directly in turkey. Certain players reached their peak in turkey (SWP, Drews, Hunter etc)

Germany is a great school for top NCAA players

Congrats to Scandicci! After investing so much money in the last few years, they finally manage to win a trophy:thumbup:

However to be honest the level of this competition was extremely low this year, and not only this year... Probably it's time for CEV to understand that having 3 European cups for female clubs is too much. Two (Champions League and Cev Cup) are more than enough.

I agree! I think CEV needs to fuse these two cups and use a different format. Some qualification rounds and then group matches and then quarter finals and final 4. The way it is now is not appealing to many top teams. And there should definitely be a CL wild card for the club who won the competition.
