Very different circumstances. There's no easy way to explain it but neither are comparable.
Post 9/11:
The US claimed the intent was to remove "a regime that developed and used weapons of mass destruction, that harbored and supported terrorists, committed outrageous human rights abuses and defied the just demands of the United Nations and the world".
Very similar indeed. Russia use the same excuse. They claim that Russian minority groups are not treated well by Ukrainian government and they don't want any NATO missiles located so close to their border, seeing it as a national treat. Again, I'm not saying those are correct claims but governments can be very creative with coming up excuses to invade a country.
It turned out that Weapons of mass destruction was an excuse to just attack those countries by USA. And obviously there are many reports showing how badly human rights were abused by American military while they invade those countries.
Just my two cents to remind everyone that we have USA who has done maybe even worse in the past
-
It is great to see the international support around the world for Ukraine. I wonder why people didn't bother when USA invaded other countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.
Not saying to justify Russia's terrible actions but I hate hypocricy of western world. They can take totally different stands depending on who makes the evil actions. Reactions change drastically if it is Russia or USA or China

I think neither Nika nor Anthi is the player VakıfBank needs. They need to have stable receivers so that they can use their scorer MBs. Egonu will be killing all the OOS balls anyways
-
The only way at this moment is to boycott these champs by the federations and competitors.
Yes but if it is only a few countries doing that, it wouldn't have any impact, besides just dropping the level of the competition. I can imagine a lot of players were looking forward to this moment in their career (for example, it will be first time for turkey) FIVB should change the host!

The video is very cute, actually. I love when Bruno Souza inserts memes and stuff. Daniel Bortoletto mentioned Silvia Popovic, the Serbian libero, and they cut to the Brazilian presenter.
But Fabi's list is:
1)Camila Brait
2)De Gennaro
3)Castillo
4)Wong-Orantes
5)Aköz
Daniel added as possible alternatives Kobata and Popovic.
The ranking is disputable but i would be fine with this top 5, only replacing Wong with Malova

I hope Drews goes back to Turkey. I think she will fit in Galatasaray or PTT.
I prefer both Dimitrova and Carutasu over Drews. Especially Dimitrova is having a great season so far and her style fits better to PTT's system
-
Currently, Novara isn't not running a very fast system. Part of the reason is because of the setter. Next year, Poulter comes. We all know her style. Gray fits this system well, and she is coming to Novara. But Karakurt is really slow. I haven't see any speed improvement since the beginning of the season.
Killing high balls is not a problem. The problem would be the speed difference at the left and right side. That means we may see lightning fast and flat balls set to position 4, but slow high balls to position 1 and 2 so that Karakurt can keep up with the pace. This is a very unbalanced system.
Part of being a good setter is being versatile. Look at Maja she sets both fast and high balls to different players in the same team. Poulter should show whether she is one trick pony in a different team setting

She had some chances this season, both as a starting player and as a substitution. But her performance wasn't convincing at all. Comparing to Daalderop, Herbots is not better in any aspects. It's not Lavarini's fault that she doesn't get court time.
Yes, Lavarini hasn't won any title in the last three year. How could Busto won anything? As for Novara, there has always been week points in the team, especially the setter. Next year, Novara would have some chances, but the opposite position could be a problem. Clearly, Karakurt is too slow for Poulter's setting style. Let's see if the club hires someone else as reinforcement or they try to adjust either Poulter or Karakurt.
I think Ebrar has been the least of Novara's problem this year. She played with Carlini, Naz and Cansu before. So I don't see any concern with Poulter

Amanda show! PTT-GS match is pretty good so far! Unfortunately Helene is still missing from PtT
-
I thought Kubra is going to a different team? I guess she is staying in Vakif then.
I wish she would have gone to THY and replace Aslı. We don't have many good MBs, she shouldn't be sitting on the bench

https://worldofvolley.com/late…rity-for-next-season.html
They write that Zhu has made an agreement with VakıfBank that she will return to their ranks in the future as a thank you for fulfilling her request to participate in the Chinese championship one year before the Olympics in Brazil
Zhu ting and Egonu in the same team?😱 That could be clash of egos, both of them are used to be the go-to player at clutch moments and getting the most amount of sets in their team.
-
she's not.
she was working an office job last I heard. I thought she might do AU but idk
wow😱🤦 she was really good! Pity that she doesn't want to pursue a professional volleyball career.
-
With Helene, this match could have ended differently...
Also Karayolları has tiny chances to stay in the league. It's a pity because they have always been a joy to watch with their defence.
Well they always play with almost 3 liberos on court, that's why😂
I liked karayolları when they had Havili. She was a game changer. Where is she playing now?
-
Because her last 2, 3 seasons in Brazil + NT were embarrassing, she was really really bad.. we are traumatized..
She always had good reception and defense. This season she is killing a lot of balls. Especially In the games that Helene didn't play, she is the second go-to player after Dimitrova.
Does anyone know why Helene is absent today? Injury or covid?
-
I said it as a joke, because well.. it’s Amanda.. I really like her, and I have been rooting for her to get out of Rio and play as a starter for so many years, but since she did that, she was never playing solid..
Oh really? Have you seen her playing this season at all? She has been rocking, one of the best players of PTT
-
Amanda is like the best transfer in the TL this season
I wouldn't call best but one of the bests. I don't know why brazilian users like to bash her all the time. I remember someone said that her good performance in the beginning of season won't last long since other teams will learn how to deal with her later but so far she is playing as great as beginning of season
Meanwhile Vargas-Arına reception line is painful to watch

Kinda bummed that there's no rumors of LYY going abroad.
She may not be an all around player, but she could be a solid offensive contributor that a team can invest in for the coming years. The Chinese League is just too easy for her now, playing in Europe could really help take her development into the next level.
Maybe she should work with GUI in VakıfBank. He helped Zhu to improve her reception. I think he can help LYY too
-
What will happen to buse Ünal. I thought FB was investing in her to use her as starter next year. She started a lot of matches instead of Naz.
She is the best local setter after Naz and Cansu. She should definitely be a starter in one of the top 4. It would be a waste ir she would bench for a foreigner setter considering that we simply don't have any solid setter as Cansu's backup in NT
I'm happy with Jack's transfer. I was rooting for her since she was playing in uralochka, she is such a dominant scorer MB. However she won't be a big upgrade to Heyrman since Jack's block is a liability like Heyrman's
Im curious where Gaila Lopez will go. She is one for the break through of the season. I can see her playing in GS or even THY. She is having just a phenomenal season so far. Best scorer, best server and 5th best blocker of league so far
Another player who will be in the list of big clubs is Mitchem. She is not a solid receiver but her attack is very consistent and she is a versatile attacker. She can be even an upgrade to Madison Kingdon in THY
Ergül Eroğlu had a decent season in Aydın so I wouldn't be surprised she would be back to one of the top 5-6 teams again.
-
Maybe they thought they don't have a realistic chance to reach a medal,. that's why didn't want to bother? It is always an upset to see players retire from NT at early age (I share your pain. To me, Naz is also too young for retiring from NT 😞)
This makes me wonder if Dijkema will retire too. She is the only one left from that generation
