Arkas seemed they couldn’t get over the loss against Fenerbahce. A team shouldn’t contain both Burak and Yigit at the same time, they both are defensive players and perform poorly this season. They played good except end of set finals.

exactly my thoughts! He was training with NT at such a young age that I thought he will be like Naz and play in NT for many years and all of a sudden he decided to switch his position. I am curious if the reason was money (top OH earns more than setters)
Anyways it turned out to be a waste of potential. There are many good OH options in Turkey but setter position is the one NT is lacking the most!
I've watched the game, it was indeed extremely close, all three sets were ended with only 2 points difference. I hope Arkas will wake up and snatch the 3rd position. They are well capable of that! I wonder why Mustafa Koç and Cağatay didn't play. Are they injured?

I think Yasemin and Selin will be the starter but on the other hand Sabriye also didn't have a bad season so I am curious who will be starters. I am sure Hande will be the 4th option, she could have gone to another mid level team as 3rd option indeed

There are many outsides who has better reception skills than USA liberos but floor defense is something different, I don't think outside hitters can compete at that element with a real libero. It requires certain reflexes that can be developed by playing at that position for many years. That's why, even though Courtney is probably better receiver than JWO, her defense is not close to a libero

I'm surprised Karch didn't try to convince her of playing libero. But then, I guess it harms her pro career and that's her main source of income so it's understandable in a way.
playing one tournament in a different position wouldn't hard her club career at all! It is her personal preference clearly. It is hard to force someone to play in a position she doesn't want to.

My pick for 18 players roster for VNL (assuming neither Vargas not Carutasu can play):
Setters: Naz Akyol-Cansu Özbay-Buse Ünal
OPP: Meryem Boz-Ebrar Karakurt
OH: Hande Baladın-Meliha İsmailoğlu-İlkin Aydın-Saliha Şahin-Derya Cebecioğlu-Tuğba Şenoğlu-Şeyma Ercan
MB: Eda Erdem-Zehra Güneş-Kübra Akman-Aslı Kalaç-Yasemin Güveli-Beyza Arıcı
L: Simge Aköz-Dilek Kınık-Buse Kayacan (Buse is a great defender and Dilek is a good receiver, I think these two should be tested on an international level, both are more promising than Ayça Aykaç. Indeed the two best liberos after Simge are Gizem Örge and Gizem Güreşen but since Guidetti has issues with both unfortunately neither of them would be in the roster)
Setters: I think there is no dispute here, it will be Naz and Cansu. I hope Buse would have some playing time so that she will get ready for the next tournaments
Opp: In the case that one of Carutasu or Vargas would be able to play, I wouldn't pick Meryem but if neither can not, then we don't have many options here. I don't think it is necessary to bring 3rd Opp like Yağmur or Tutku Burcu. No need to invest in these since there will be Vargas-Carutasu next year.
OH: Meliha's position is locked since she is the best receiver among all candidates. I think both Hande and Ilkin's spots are also locked because both of them are balanced OHs and I think they would be a good starting OH duo indeed. The position that is open for discussion most is 4th OH. Gui could take Şeyma since she is a second-best receiver and defender among all OHs, although she had a bad season at offense. Or he will pick either Saliha or Derya. I think Saliha is slightly better at both attack and reception than Derya. But Guidetti is fond of Derya so he might pick her as 4th OH.
MBs: Eda and Zehra's positions are locked. Kübra has the edge over Aslı for the 3rd slot thanks to her versatility but Gui could pick Aslı since she is a better blocker than Kübra

I disagree on this. IMHO she was always the one who brought something more on table when THY needed the most (a block, a kill, a digg, an ace, a rebound to make the defence more confortable). Not to mention that she scored a lot, considering she plays in a team that's a nightmare when it comes to passing (they're really awful at ball control).
I agree with you. Aslı was one of the best local MBs definitely! she was solid at both blocking and attacking. However, I think Guidetti will take Kübra as 3rd MB because she can do slides which is something Aslı can not, unfortunately. If it was gonna be for the starter position I would pick Aslı but as a backup for OG, Kübra is more versatile and she should be there. Versatility is more important for a roster of 12. And in general, Kübra had a good season as well, with 53% attacking she is 2nd best attacker in the league right now.

You can have two liberos in the same match. If you only have 1 libero, only an injury could make it possible for another player to put on the libero jersey during the match. I don't know if you can change the liberos in between matches but I would bet that you can.
yes true but trainers just 'declare' their player as injured without a justification, it just means that so called injured player can not go back to the field in the same game.
I think USA should just trust JWO and let her play during VNL, all 4 OHs are good at receiving so USA doesn'T need a great libero, just a decent one should be enough.
To me second Opp is a question mark. I think Wilhite should be there as backup Opp but probably Karch will take Thompson there which I think not really fair

What's the point of playing these matches with Mirkoviç. Elif can not be as terrible as her and it is obvious that Mirkoviç won't stay in Eczacıbaşı, why not let Elif play to gain experience

Except Jane Wacu, I agree with every name on the list. I was expecting Gözde Kırdar to be also on the list but I am happy with 8 OHs there as well. BRA deservedly had 4 iconic players in the list while USA, SRB, ITA, and TUR followed them with 3 players each.
