    The VBC Biel withdraws his team from the NLA.
    According to the "Bieler Tagblatt", Biel has financial problems, lack of volunteers and the weak youth/junior teams of the club led to this step. The eight-time Swiss champion is now seeking a new start in the first League and wants to put the focus on the future of young talent.

    Dirk Gross, former headcoach of Volley Köniz, with whom he won the swiss championship in 2008/2009, and headcoach of Vilsbiburg´s 2nd league team last season, signed a two year contract with VC Kanti Schaffhausen.

    VC Kanti Schaffhausen agreed to terms with OH Jóna Gudlaug Vigfúsdóttir (Vilsbiburg 2nd team) and MBs Nora Götz (Sinsheim) and Brooke Ann Delano (Nebraska).
    The obligation of Delano however is subject to the proviso that the work and residence permit will be issued in time.

    ... until the Swiss Volleyball League 2012/2013 starts.


    At Saturday 15.09.2012 (14:30 local time) the season already starts with the match Volley Köniz - Volero Zürich.
    This match will be part of a Special Event called "Triple Ball" (Handball, Floorball and Volleyball at one event):

    All the other teams of the Swiss Volleyball League will start the season at the weekend of 22.09.2012 and 23.09.2012.

    Mode:
    This season the Swiss Volleyball League (or NLA) consists of 9 teams. They will play each other (home and away) in the Qualification Round until the end of the year.


    After that (January and February), the best 5 teams of the Qualification Round will play the Playoff Round. In the Playoff Round these 5 top teams will play again each other (home and away). The first ranked team of the Qualification Round will start in this Playoff Round with 3 points, the second ranked with 2 points, the third ranked with 1 point and the other 2 teams with zero points. The teams ranked 6th to 9th place after the Qualification Round will do exactly the same in a Playout Round to determine the places from 6 to 9 of the league.


    After that (March), the two best ranked teams after this Playoff Round will compete in a best-of-five to become Swiss Champion. The 3rd and 4th ranked team after the Playoff Round will compete in a best-of-three for the bronze medal. For the 5th ranked team the season will be over after the Playoff Round.
