The 2012 CEV Champions League

  • Neslihan is 1st in scorer & spiker rankings, 3rd in server ranking, im really sorry for her if cant reach F4 because of Cannes will face Ecv

  • If Azerrail is a host of F4 why they will play in play offs ?

    I wrote it before, just read competitions regulations (especially clause 1.6)

    better yet, let me paste it.

    1.6 ALTERNATIVE COMPETITION METHOD IN CASE OF ‘NEUTRAL’ FINAL
    FOUR ORGANIZER
    • The organizer is a National Federation without any team participating in the
    competition.
    • The organizer is a National Federation with at least one participating team.
    This National Federation accepts that independently from the results of its
    team(s), they will organize the Final Four Tournament.
    In these cases the competition format must be modified as follows:
    • The organizer is determined at the latest before the Drawing of Lots for the
    League Round (June / July);
    • A new competition format will be announced at the latest at the Drawing of
    Lots.
    • Men’s competition:
    -After the League Round, the 1st – 2nd ranked as well as the four 3rd
    ranked teams with the best score qualify to the Eight-Final;
    -The remaining 3rd ranked teams and the two 4th ranked teams with
    the best score from the League Round move to CEV Volleyball Cup
    Challenge Round and the remaining 4th ranked teams are
    eliminated.
    • Women’s competition:
    -If 20 teams have registered for the League Round: After the
    League Round, the 1st – 3rd ranked of the Pools as well as the 4th
    ranked with the best score qualify to the Eight-Final. The remaining
    4th ranked teams from the League Round move to the CEV
    Volleyball Cup Challenge Round;
    -If 16 teams have registered for the League Round: The 1/8 Finals
    are skipped, the 1st - 2nd ranked teams of the Pools qualify to the
    Quarter-Finals (8 teams). The 3rd ranked teams will move to the
    CEV Volleyball Cup Challenge Round and the 4th ranked teams are
    eliminated.
    • A Drawing of Lots is performed for the Eight-Finals respectively Quarter
    Finals;
    • The winners of the Eight-Finals (Home & Away Matches) qualify to the
    Quarter-Finals;
    • The winners of the Quarter-Final Matches qualify to the Semi-Final Matches;
    • In case that 2 [TWO] teams from the same country qualify to the semi-final
    matches, they will have to play each other. A Drawing of Lots will be
    performed to fix the ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ status of the teams.

  • Groucho I am looking to the CEV site by phone, maybe something is wrong because now it is the worst site for phone opera but I see still Istanbul as first match.

    Well second match in Istanbul would have sense because I was even suprise that CEV is against Turkey who is close lately.

    Maybe 3rd opinion will show the truth.

  • Muszyna's coach Bogdan Serwinski about DOL:
    "We know our rivals very good. I want to remind that a couple years ago we eliminated them in play-offs. Group phase it's a history. Now it's the new challenge in CL. Despite class of our rivals I dont want to complain. Nowadays there are a lot of strong teams in Europe. Some of them plays on a higher level than many national teams."

    :D

    It's an interesting coincidence that in the season that Muszyna beat Cannes in Playoffs 12, Eczacibasi played against and eliminated the Polish team in the Playoffs 6 to qualify to the Final 4. We'll see if the history will repeat itself.

  • oh yes, indeed and Eczacibasi faced with Vakifbank too in first phase of playoffs...but ok it was almost 4 years ago now the teams are different :D

  • Very bad draw by CEV :( 2 BEST teams (Fenerbahce and Rabita) gotta play against each other in quarters....just horibille!!!!! But I'm positive they can win,goooooo Rabita, goooooooooo Azerrail!!!! :super:

    * all time are local times; s: CEV

  • i think cev must expand champions league participant teams. The system of Men's CL will be suitable for the Womens',as well. It is ridiculous that even the 4th position Prostejov will play for the next stage. :thumbdown:
    In addition,unfortunately the strongest teams, Eczacibasi (2th) and Vakifbank (1th) will encounter in 1/8 playoffs. It was not rule that 1st match 3rd? NOT 1st vs. 2nd !!!! :mad:

  • Game Intro Atom Trefl Sopot - Rabita Baku

    Some questions: Was it expected to be the Best Scorer of the Best European Competiton?

    I think it is time to show my abilities and I was waiting for this time! I am very honored!

  • Sometimes seem Logan Tom and other players from Fenerbahce take the match as a joke. I've never seen Logan laugh in U.S.A. team as she does at Fenerbahce.

    Prostejov 1 - Fenerbahce 0 (25-23)

    I am sure they don't take it as a joke. The club is very clear on their goals this season.

    Logan just likes being in Fenerbahce, I think.
