Germany - DVL 2011/12

  • If my memory is right, she played a few months for TVC Amstelveen - together with Judith Pietersen and Quinta Steenbergen - in the beginning of last season (2010-2011). After the winterbreak she left, because the club couldn't pay her anymore. She came from a university-team, somewhere in the USA.

She was playing for Oregon and Florida State University in NCAA and in 2010/11 in Finland. She won best server awards in some Youth and Junior NT competitions.

Mira played for the University of Oregon and Florida State University, before she joined Amstelveen, where - beside the above mentioned - she also played with Femke Stoltenberg.

    edit:
Matthias, you beat me to it

  • she also played with Femke Stoltenberg

How could I forget :aww: Femke Stoltenborg was indeed in the team as well.

Wiesbaden was leading 24:13 in 4th set and let Sinsheim come back to 24:23 before they finally made the last point :white:

As flyingdutchman said, next Wednesday we get the absolute top match  Both teams are almost complete, Dresden misses Frieda Thieme (broken foot) and the long-term injured Stephanie Kestner, Nicole Schröber and Anna Cmaylo, Schwerin misses Krystle Esdelle (ill). Anne Buijs had a small surgery on her leg last week and now is back. There won't be live broadcast of the match but it should be uploaded 1-2 days later on http://sport.inschwerin.de

  • I'm happy my prediction before the season (Schwerin, Dresden and Rote Raben too strong for other teams) has become true meanwhile

I think the gap between those 3 and others will become even bigger. Their deep rosters make the difference.

Münster is struggling during last rounds (like Matthias already said: they are in the hands of only two players: Sloetjes and Cutura). Hamburg is too instanble as well.

I hope it will be a great match on Wednesday !! I think the absence of Thieme and Esdelle will not harm the teams, since they both were substitutes recently.

I hope/think Schwerin will win, but it will depend on the shape of Topic and Buijs and Hanke-Thormann. If Dresdner succeeds in causing troubles for Schweriner reception, they will probably win. In my opinion Dresdner is better in blocking and defense. Schwerin has better wing-spikers; Dresden has better MBs.

  • Yup, I agree with most of what you say. But it's also true the other way round, if Schwerin can put Dresden so much under pressure with serves that Apitz has to use the OHs all the time, Schwerin certainly has an advantage. I would say:
    Apitz = Hanke
Tzscherlich > Thomsen (but not much)
    Matthes+Schwabe < Topic+Buijs
    De Kruijf+Karg > Kauffeldt+Brandt/Aas
Thormann and Pietersen are impossible to compare because they play a completely different style at Opp.
For me the chances are 60-40 for Schwerin if both teams play normally.

  • I agree. I didn't consider it from Schweriner's serve-position yet ;)

One thing: Thomsen makes a better impression to me, than Tzscherlich. It seems to me Tzscherlich is a little 'aufgebrannt'. (already in the fall of her career).

  • Yes that's true, she is getting worse all the time, but still she has a lot of experience. Thomsen is very inconsistent, she can make great saves but also so simple mistakes and her reception is not as it should be for a libero. In terms of libero, Vilsbiburg with Lenka Dürr and I think also Münster with Linda Dörendahl have better players, also Evelyn Delogu from Stuttgart is a very good libero.
