    Comments:

As you can see, Rennes just defeated both Tours and Poitiers ! Since Beauvais and Montpellier are having ups and downs, and Cannes had good results we end up with 5 teams with 17 points ! and Toulouse, Tourcoing and Nantes not so far behind.

  • Is Skrimov playing as opposite now? He received most of the attempts to score

  • But he scored a lot of points in previous matches too, Paris count a lot on him in attack, probably using him both from left side and right side, as well in pipe. How is he doing in reception? If he can stabilize that, he can be priceless for the NT as type of player Bulgaria do not make often. Next Martin Stoev may be?

  • How is he doing in reception?

He's currently ranking 46th on 50, and already made more mistakes than last season while not having half as much reception to perform. It's even worse than his first pro season ...

  • He's replacing Basta Doreto.

    That sounds so typical

    This league is insane.
One day, you say a team is in great shape after defeating the best two teams of the league and two days after the same team lost to the worst one of the league! :wall:

So take good note that all I'm going to write now is likely to prove entirely false in the coming weeks! :read:
So Rennes lost in Lyon, who is in great need of points. If Lyon can repeat that kind of games until the end of the season, maybe they might be back on Narbonne's and Ajaccio's track.
Other great result from Nantes in Cannes. Nantes is appearing way better than before World Cup break... But how long will that last ?
Montpellier took the best of Beauvais in straight sets. No big deal so far, but Montpellier did not served a single ace! However Beauvais spiked awfully with a combined 29/78 (10 errors + 8 times blocked) from wing spikers !
Tours had a tough time to get three points against Sète, Narbonne won an other useless set in Poitiers, Paris and Tourcoing were not able to get points in away games at Toulouse and Ajaccio.

It looks like both Tours and Poitiers are not currently at their best. So even if they are still good enough to get good results in France, one may wonder if that would be enough for the next IECL games. Of course both teams will get extra motivation for IECL, which they might have lacked against a team like Narbonne.
And behind Tours and Poitiers... My guess is we won't see any team coming out of the lot before a long time !

  • As Armel said Rennes defeat in Lyon is huge surprise :white: Rennes beat Tour, Sete and Poitiers but their efforts collapsed vs the worst team in league.I'm not surprised with Beauvais, Songolo is injured and there is big hole in the middle. Bartik plays with some ankle support, dunno why Dumortier is insisting on him :what: :aww: Bartik gets around 40 balls per match, loading ankle is huge and IMO it's wrong that he plays.

Nantes fullfilling their potential but they nedd to play good in rows. Gromadowski showed he is decent replacement for Rejlek but also I think he have better stats than Rejlek. TLM is still very unreliable team, lot of ups&downs in their matches, I would say Simovski is playing way below his potential. Ajaccio has decent team, quite strong offensive and if they improve in block we'll see better results from Corsicans.

  • I have a questions about TLM, lavallez and winder are setters there, winder was there couple of years ago also, as well as angel perez, as i recall, the foreign setters always start the season but pretty soon lavallez plays, what's the deal about that? if he play as much as the foreign setters why bringing a foreinger?!?!?!?

First you have to understand that in France, many backup players are foreigners because the French league is in a situation where foreigners are often slightly less expensive than French. All of this because volleyball is not as popular in France as the league is good. So there are not enough french players with the level of the league. Then the few French players who have the level (many of them being French NT members) are really wanted by many clubs and therefore are expensive.

Now about Tourcoing and Lavallez. Lavallez plays here mostly because it's close from his hometown. Since a few seasons Tourcoing has a policy of trying to keep a minimum of local players (meaning players coming from the north of France) as a way to have the supporters closer from the players and get better attendances (for now this policy is a complete failure). The problem with Lavallez is that he is a not quite good enough to be a starter in a top team (which Tourcoing is still aiming at) but too good to be a backup. So as a backup he's always going to put a lot of pressure on the starter!
At the same time, Tourcoing does not have enough money to pay a really better setter, so they end up with two setters with more or less the same level so they can replace one if the other is not good enough.

I think Tourcoing should admit they are not the team they used to be anymore, and have Lavallez as the only starting setter, with better players around him. (and especially a third MB in the team). But I think the main reason they bring Winder back in the team, is that he has a huge physical potential, that they also signed Jason Jablonsky, and made some kind of bet that he would have a breakthrough season with Tourcoing. Somehow there is still time remaining, and maybe Winder will improve in the coming months.
