So, let me think a little bit.
If Artamonova comes back in Russian NT, wouldn't that be a good formation for Russia? I mean Artamonova, Sokolova, Gamova and Godina all 4 on court!! That would be scary for any team. With Artamonova back reception and defence will be better and Gosha could focus more on attack. Plus Akulova is not bad at blocking.
Russia doesn't attack a lot with MBs, so having a hitter instead will be better.

You are right, Russian team is not well known for playing a lot with middle players. Akulova prefer setting hight balls to Shashkova, Gamova, Godina or Safronova.
But to playlike this you need a setter who can block like a middle player when she is at the net. I don't think that Akulova could block like that.

It could be interesting seeing the team playing like this. With Artamonova and Shashkova + libero the team would have great reception. Gamova and Godina would only have to focus on attack.
And on some position Shashkova could block at the center in place of Akulova. she already play has middle player in the past.

It will certainly never happens, but a team with this 4 players on court would be amazing and so powerful in attack!

For this first day of french championship there was some good matches. Hainaut, Mulhouse, Istres, Nancy and Cannet-Rocheville show good volleyball.

Cannes is still the clearly favorite.

    Statisics for cannes :

    Yaneva 13 pts (11/16 spikes, 2 aces)
    Ravva 16 pts (11/12, 4 blocs, 1 ace)
    Agca 5 pts (2 aces)
    Rybaczewski 6 pts
    Turiaf 9 pts (3 blocs)
    Filipova 9 pts (6/13, 2 blocs, 1 ace)
    Libero : Akiko Ino

Cannes played a good game. Agca was setting pretty well, she used a lot her middle players. Ravva unstopable. Filipova is improving a lot. The new libero is very good in defense.

In this beggining season Dong seems to be better than Elif.

The team played better when Dong was on the court during san remo tournament and against Moscou on friendly match. But maybe Dong just aclimate better to her new team.

Fang is playing a lot with Elif, he propably knows that she can play much better and she will probably be the starting setter for cannes.

    Thanks for the explaination!

So, no quick/one in their arsenal? :?

Only when the middle player is at the net and the setter backrow.

I don't like this system too. I don't think it's a great sytem for Cannes because this team like to plays with combinaison and lots of slides.

But this sytem can be really good on a team with 4 very strong outsides hitters.

For cannes I don't really know. The formation will probably be :

    Agca / Centoni
Ravva / Filipova (she is a good blocker)
    Rybaczewski / Yaneva
    Ino libero

But fang like to change a lot so we he can put Chihab in place of Filipova and also Fomina in place of Rybaczewski or Yaneva to have a better reception.

He can also play like Baku, with only one middle player (Ravva) in opposition with the setter. Elif was playing like that in vakifbank and she is a good blocker.
So the formation could be :
    Elif / Ravva
    Rybazcewski / Yaneva
    Centoni / Fomina or Zhang

Elif is not at her best right now so he can play with the second setter Dong who is playing really well with the team now.

Bulgaria is my favourite too, because they are hosts and they don't have real opponents. Maybe Belgium...but I think Bulgaria - which I don't like at all(AFROMAN :wink2: ) - will win.
In the tournament in Ankara, I would bet on France. I think this team is in better shape than Turkey.
And in the first The Netherlands is a clear favourite for me.

I really don't think that France will win this tournament. Salinas, Ravva and Kociniewski have stop the national team after the EC. The team is young and promising but they will miss experienced players. There are still players like Lozancic, Rybazcewski, Shleck and Querard but it will difficult without an experienced setter.

can people who watch matches tell me about turkish setter elif ağca ' s performance?do you like her?

It seems that Elif is having some problem in playing right now. She is quite iregular and her performance is not very good. But she has just some days of traing with the team so with more training she will certainly improve.
It seem that right now the second setter is much better.

Maculewicz is in the firts category, so the too could have play together in EC.
The french team show a great volleyball during the competition and that was amazing to see Salinas back.
I liked the fact that Fang plays with his middle blokers on reception and defence.

I think Aguerro is much better than togut.
Both are very good in attack, but Aguerro has better serve (strong jump serve or very good tactical serve), she is great in blocking and she is amazing in defense! Italy needs her in defense.
Togut is a great opposite, but Aguerro can do everything in a court.

France is playing a very good championship by now.
Salinas is back and france is wining. She plays a very fast game with Ravva and Lozancic who are the two "weapons" on attack.
And the team is very impressive on defence with Querrad, Lozancic, Ravva and Rybaczweski.

With Russia they will have a lot of difficulties because all players are very tall and powerful. But if they manage to disturb a little bit the russian team it will be very good for this team who had already reach their obective, the second round.

Why does Maculewicz not play for France?

Because she gets injured during the team preparation. It's a pity because with Maculewicz the team would have been even better!

    Yeaah France wins against Croatia!!
Good game of Ravva and Salinas and the libero Querrard.
On Croatian side Barun was very impressive! In the third set she was unstopable!
