Eczacibasi can count on excellent MB next season, probably the best couple of MB worldwide, but it may be not enough to win CL. The best Turkish team next year will be Fenerbahce, no doubts, but it won't take part to CL so Vakifbank and Kazan have big chances. Especially Dinam Kazan that has well fixed reception line with my "friend" Del Core and confirmed its great spikers.
I don't think Galatasaray will have chances because of their terrible reception, Azeri teams lost many important players and also Dinamo Moscow didn't make so smart transfer choices.
So Vakifbank and Dinamo Kazan are the favourite teams IMO.

As for Italian teams, Piacenza could aim at Quarterfinals and maybe at Final4 with a lucky drawing of lots..

Congrats Italy! It was a very interesting game.

I hope Neriman can come back soon, she is definitely missed. I dont like Barbolini, but I think it is hard to say that Turkey level dropped with him just yet, it is just begining of seaosn...players are still not in their best shape...and so on.. lets see how goes from there.

Well, Italy played with a very experimental team except Bosetti and Arrighetti while Turkey had almost all their best players and really wanted this Gold Medal for the 2nd time in its history. I think one year ago Turkey coached by Motta would have won Mediterrenean Games with no problems against Italy.. but now with Barbolini as coach this team seems to have lost hunger, typical consequence when you give him the guide of your team

Costagrande and Guiggi on fire in 2nd set and also Camera improved.

Many Italian users don't seem to like Sorokaite, and while I agree that she's not a Hooker (in double sense :D ) or a Sheilla, I think she's a solid player overall.

It's because we Italians are very demanding. If there weren't any player better than Sorokaite or Signorile I would be Ok with them in NT, but since there are much better players and we are not used to see mediocre players in NT, I'm not happy with these choices at all.
Sorokaite is not that bad but she hasn't got and will never have the potential to become a great Opp, while Zago does. You should have watched yesterday's friendly match between Italy and Russia, Zago was on court and she completely destroyed Russian block. :super: You could see the difference between a real power Opp(Zago) and a normal spiker(Sorokaite). IMO Italy definitely needs a power Opp like Zago and Diouf for the future in order to compete with the best teams in the World.
Of course Zago still has a lot to learn, she still makes too many mistakes, but if they don't let her play she'll never improve. While Sorokaite will hardly become better than what she is now...

I saw the groups just now...in the last years there always was a rule that teams from the same country could not be in one pool, so I am surprised :what:

Bad luck for the German teams, Dresden can only win against Beziers and Schwerin only against Prostejov. And what a nice coincidence that Denise Hanke in her first year abroad after 6 years in Schwerin has to face her old club in CL :white:

    WTF...!
And also Carli Lloyd vs. Yamamay Busto Arsizio :box: :cheesy:

    Russia - Italy - stats
Russia was worse in all elements except block, Italy had 12 serve errors, from all 17. Good match by Valnetina Zago - 17 points, 52% spike, also quite good Costagrande - 14 points, best reception in team. By Russian side 14 points Isaeva, despite only 38% spike, Malykh was a bit better - 11 points, 48% spike, Shlyakhovaya - 10 points, 7 blocks :!:

Zago rules :super: With her and Costagrande Italy has an amazing duo in attack! :box:
No need for Sorokaite and Tirozzi  :read:

I think Sorokaite is not so bad, Tirozzi is a much bigger problem for me

IMO they both shouldn't be in NT. Zago has a much bigger potential, so why keeping her on bench and wasting time with Indre!? :aww:
And Bianchini has bigger potential than Tirozzi, even if short she jumps like Lucia Bosetti :super:
