2nd half of 2nd set was a demonstration of USA's strength, also very good substitutions by Hugh. They found China's weaknesses and now they exploit them. As I predicted, Wang runs out of power very soon when she has to attack more balls than usual and when China can't play quick attacks after bad reception, it gets very easy for USA.

Nicole Davis just managed to pass a free ball that came down 2m behind the net towards the service line instead of towards the setter :wall: Such a lack of basic technical skills is quite shocking!!

OMG Italy is having a hard time against GBR :white: Narrow escape with 27-25, and who knows what could have happened if British serving sub hadn't missed the serve at 23-23.
But I guess from now on Italy will take it more serious and punish GBR for daring not to give up easily...

Judging by the match versus Algeria, I'd thought Great Britain would be the most embarrasing thing against Italy. But, no. They don't even look as bad as Serbia, so far... :whistling:

GBR already showed against Russia that they can play quite well, I guess against Algeria the pressure of knowing that this is the only chance to win really made them think too much and play bad...

Terzic once again loses the Olympic Games. Maybe the team is physically well prepared but he makes horrible strange decisions :whistling: Serbia has so good MBs and doesn't use them becouse of poor reception.... Terzic, look at Barbollini. The strongest point of Italy are MBs and Barbollini did everything to use this weapon (taking 2 liberos and 4 OH's with a good reception...) I don't say that Barbollini is always right but at least he undersands that sometimes there is a need to find a players who simply fits to the team.

The problem is that Ognjenovic in this tournament does not use the MBs well at all, she is so predictable. Usually she can tear the block apart and give every hitter a single block, but right now even the MBs constantly attack against a double block because every good reception is played through the middle.
Blagojevic did a great match against Korea, and she probably is Serbia's best receiver, but today she did not play at all apart from one or two points in first set. Mihajlovic was Serbia's best attacker, but in reception she had 5/15 even with London's very generous reception stats. Blagojevic might have scored less points, but her reception could have allowed the others to do better. Vesovic showed that she is totally useless now...I guess it's sure that Serbia will be out after preliminaries but I hope they will at least put up a better fight in the remaining matches...

I know the chance is very very small...but I could imagine that if Brazil loses against Korea today, they might even be out after preliminary. I expect them to lose against China too but beat Serbia, and if Turkey beats Korea, three teams will have 2 victories and 3 defeats...anyway BRA-KOR is today so we will know soon if it can happen.

Congrats to Turkey :) Polen won them the 3rd set :super: But Neslihan won them the first two mainly and this is really a good sign. Now I hope Eda will recover soon, even though Büsra did a good match today I think Eda will be important in the next matches...

Btw this was the first 3 set match in Pool B...

If Neslihan had played like that in the previous matches, Turkey would have won them both.

I just don't get it...Mihajlovic fails one reception after another and Terzic just won't enter Blagojevic :wall:

U also know that how serbia could play with their main roster in EC2011 it explains everything what i tried to say 8o

Of course they would be better if they had all players available, but what I mean is that even with those they have, they can play better than they do now. Ognjenovic is one of the world's best setters, but her performance in this tournament, especially in terms of tactics, has been way below her standard. Rasic's low attack % is mainly due to Ognjenovic, everyone knows when she will set to MB and Rasic most of the time has to attack against a double block in the middle...

I don't understand Terzic, Blagojevic and Starovic played very well against Korea when he entered them and today they don't get a chance or just for one-two points???

I just hope Turkey won't suffer from 3rd set syndrome now...

It really looks like Serbians don't care about what's happening on court. And they shouldnt be there from the start! Thai girls would be trying so hard at this Olympics and Serbia is a total disgrace.

Yeah I just thought the same...in all matches of Serbia so far they had phases where they just completely stopped playing

But Turkey looks a lot better today overall, Büsra is not doing bad so far...

Yes, we are receiving solid but not attacking with MBs since Büşra even doesn't try to make fake attacks  Also leave gaps at block.

Serbia cannot win the game as far as they try to receive with Brankica and Ivana

And Vesovic isn't any better either...

I don't see Eda around at all, she doesn't sit on bench and only Esra, Özge and Polen warm up during timeouts :S

But at least Neslihan is playing much better today...

On volleyball.it is written that Barbolini did not want to take Piccinini to OG for technical reasons but the president of Italian fed insisted that she must go :white: Barbolini is strange this year...

    Thanks! :)

I noticed all russian players played except Matienko.

Yep, I guess Ovchinnikov wanted to avoid the team losing rhythm with a setter change and allow Startseva to try some plays which she would not do if the score was more tied. Matienko played a short time against GBR and I expect this will have been her only appearance in OG unless anything happens to Startseva.
