Finally both teams are playing quite well so it is a balanced match and nice to watch. I hope Serbia can take it to 5 sets...

What a crashing spike by Blagojevic She's playing really well...but now Maja makes the same mistake as earlier in the match, totally overusing the MBs...
-
I always find it amazing how a match can completely change all of a sudden. Korea dominated for two sets and Serbia did not do anything, and now it's just the other way round
-
Wow, Serbia actually started to play. With Starovic and Blagojevic their game has improved and Korea shows 3rd set relaxation at its best.
-
I know Serbia's awful, but I'm shocked at how easy the match's turning out to be. I hope koreans can take this kind of attitude to the matches against China and Turkey. They have a real shot at qualifying to quarters.
Yup, if Turkey keeps playing like today, I expect Korea to beat them.
I thought Korea was gonna beat Serbia, but not THAT easy! And I don't see any reaction coming from Serbia, it's like they just want it to end as soon as possible -
Kim is just everywhere Attack, block, serve, reception, defense, and she does absolutely everything with high quality!
-
Serbian setters need to change something....EVERY good reception is played through the middle, it's very easy for Korea's block-defense.
-
Serbia is not gonna win anything with Mihajlovic and Djerisilo in reception. I thought they'd at least but up a better fight, but right now they are simply pathetic
-
Kim is possibly the best player in the world now, but also the rest of the team plays well so far. The lefty Opp is on bench today and Korea plays with 3 MBs, I like that style and it worked well during GP.

Just as Bahar will never learn to serve more than two balls in a row, Turkish attackers will never learn not to attack straight into China's high block The last points were representative for the whole match, and considering Turkey's bad performance it is quite astonishing that the final result was rather tight in all sets. Not a good sign for China, as long as they can use the MBs they are really good because they have a great setter, but time will tell if USA and Brazil will be able to exploit their reception weaknesses...
-
And once again, Turkey shows that it really ain't over till it's over. China has problems as soon as Turkey serves well.
-
This doesn't seem to be Turkey's day...in 2nd set their attack was better but reception broke down And China is playing solid, so it will be very hard to achieve something...
-
The good thing for Turkey is that it's totally up to themselves to change the match. It's not like China is dominating, if Turkey can reduce their errors and attack a bit better they can win the match...
-
If it goes on like this, I expect to see Polen and Esra again soon and it is totally justified - Neslihan is in terrible shape! Against Brazil I thought she was nervous, but today she's even worse
-
Turkish attackers are just terrible, all balls out or straight into the block
-
Tomorow we have 6 very interesting games. It's difficult to predict all the results. Even Algieria-Great Britain can be interesting.
Especially I wait for JPN-ITA match. IMO Italy and Japan are the most underestimated teams. I think that these teams will perform in OG beter then most of us expect
I think Russia won't have any problems against DOM, but all other matches will really be interesting...but I don't agree about Italy and Japan, I would be surprised if either of these teams reaches semifinal. -
Also, remember that Turkey turned 4th set around with Esra and Polen on court, so for me it was logical that Motta let them on court for 5th set as well. However I agree that at least Neslihan should have returned, but Gözde was not that impressive and as Serdar pointed out, she is very dependent on fast sets and Brazil blocked her a few times...

One person said USA is perfect team not everyone We all know that the Olympics are different than the WGP and there is no perfect team.
And if that one person was me, I said they would be perfect with a better libero But I agree that there is no absolute perfection...but their strength is that they commit few errors, for example Logan Tom usually has a very low % in attack all over the summer, but the ball always stays in play and USA makes the points somewhere else eventually. -
Another problem I see in Brazil's team is that they are not as hungry for success as they should be and as they were 4 years ago. Of course they want to win, but as soon as they realize that they have to work a little harder for it than they're used to, they seem annoyed and start to get in trouble. Just look at Gamova and you see what it looks like when a player REALLY wants to win. Even against GBR she did not have any mercy and played with full force, and she made a brilliant physical impression on me. Also USA look like they're having fun while playing and they recovered quickly from their short mental break in 3rd set yesterday. Brazil can play only well when they are in a good mood and can do their "samba", but yesterday it was visible that as soon as the opponent manages to calm them down and make them think, they start to make mistakes and not just one or two but a whole series. The mood goes down and they have to work hard to get it back, and I think this will eventually break their necks against more experienced opponents who will make less mistakes than Turkey yesterday. USA-Brazil tomorrow will be a very good indicator of what we can expect from Brazil in the rest of the tournament...
Oh, and my predictions for the first day were almost perfect The only thing I didn't foresee was USA losing a set
