Apparently none of the teams follow rules. Sesc doesnt release stats, Praia plays in crap court, SESI doesnt respect home-away Jersey, osasco uses same color for line players and libero... Tough season

I can't even describe how crazy those things are. CBV's official Instagram account has replied to a fan saying that Sesc has the right to not post the stats because they are using a different system. Superliga is a competition organized by CBV and they are not even able to have a standard on this matter. The shirt thing was amateur, and Praia's decision to play in a bad floor it is shameful, as it demonstrates lack of respect against Curitiba and that they don't give a crap about previously established rules.

Zé was very unfortunate while building this team. I'd be shocked if they go past the quarterfinals too.

At least Maira did well tonight? At first I thought she would be the player Zé would bench most often this season, but if things don't change, I can't see Barueri winning without her on court. Amanda is just... yikes.

Tooo unfortunate to be honest. This team is VERY weak in OH and OPP positions. Many unexperienced players on bench. People are saying that Elina Rodriguez has just arrived, but I don't think she will aggregate much.

I was happy with Maira's performance tonight. She did well. I think she's talented, but definitely she won't be the player Barueri need.

I know it's only the first match but I don't think Barueri will go much further this season. Skowronska don't even jump anymore. Amanda is just terrible. Natinha is not ready to play as starter (and without a back up player). Thaisa is not (and probably won't) in the same level she used to. Milka is ok but unstable and unexperienced.

And just to say, I don't think Dani is playing well either. But it's hard for any setter to play with all your attackers and no one can kill one single ball...

Happy to see Bauru winning today, mainly because it was about time to end Osasco’s hegemony in Paulista.

And about Osasco, Osasco played terrible again. Too inconsistent. She is a good prospect, but should play in a middle level team to develop her skills. Hooker could be useful, and that’s why I hate her behavior as a team player. Why is she different than others and always delay her arrival? Fawcett has arrived early and she is American, which means both have undergone the same process to get their visa...

It happed in 2016 too, and it also happened on her first year in Brazil (2011). I don't know why she does that, and why the clubs still accept that. Last time it was a probably with a hurricane that supposedly made her passport go missing...this time it's something about her kids' visa...But wel...

In her first season playing for Minas she was hired and came later than expected, but ok, she didn't had her visa and stuff. But in her second season, same story. I guess the clubs are aware of such situation but they prefer to sign with her because she is a good player, not quite expensive, and good for marketing stuff, because people in Brazil still think she is the same from 2012.

Agreed. in 2017 Brazil won some tournaments with Roberta as starting setter. Having Dani Lins back sorta ruined that chemistry that they were trying to established last year.

Dani Lins was not playing for more than a year when Ze decided to have her back to the NT. It seems, at least for me, way too unfair to relate the lack of chemistry only to her performance, especially because Roberta played the entire VNL and even though Brazil was not playing well. Maybe the difference from last year is that Natalia was absent, and due to that, all the attacking system has depended exclusively to Tandara.

I am not questioning your general point. I understood and I agree with most of it. What I am just saying is that in spite of what you said, we did not had a good chemistry last year. That's not an opinion, it was a fact. Winning is not a synonym of playing well. We struggled more than other top teams, we were almost eliminated in GP.

We have good players that can make difference, yes. My point is that in the past years it seems a tendency of teams to have strong attackers that can, anytime, define a match in favor of their own teams, and we don't have this kind of player.

I still think that there isn't really that big difference between Brazil and the other teams tbh. China is winning with basically Zhu Ting and very suspect passing and defending, Serbia is relying on an up and down Busa for passing, and two players mainly. Brazil's team is as competitive as every other team and arguably in some respects better. I just think there hasn't been a realisation of how to organise the current team so that they can play well, or develop the kind of Chinese fighting spirit. Clearly this year they were just not in a position to do that, and partly because of all the injuries.

When they own the last Grand Prix, Natalia and Tandara were functioning like Boskovic and Mihalylovic, they had very good team chemistry, etc. I think there is no need to get desperate about the team really. When Agguerro joined Italy and they went on a bit of a run, that year Brazil was not winning - they then came back stronger the following year. What I worry about low key is whether Ze is innovative enough to come up with a winning formular for this team, having had to rely on the same girls who were in their winning prime for quite a while. I think Rio revealed how his strategies are now a bit old anf familiar, and there is a need for new thinking.....

We didn't have a good chemistry last year. We won many competitions but the way we played was quite questionable. In GP, for example, we were almost out given players' poor performances during the entire competition. Yes, we have to recognize that they overcame lots of uncertainties in crucial moments, but saying that we had a good chemistry seems unrealistic for me. Was it better than this year? Yes. But this year was the worst for Brazil NT since Ze's arrival.

And I don't think the problem is (only) the strategy. It is the lack of human material. Serbia is in the final of the WCH playing basically with Boskovic and Mihajlovic. The Netherlands plays basically with Sloetjes and sometimes Buijs. China is quite dependent on Zhu. Italy has a well-rounded team, but without Egonu they wouldn't be in the level they're now. And even being aware of those teams strategies, it's been tough to beat them.
