Hi Tomen, has the official rosters for the women's all star volleyball been announced yet? Last time I checked Li Yingying was below on the list, I hope she made it. Also, which players will be participating in the skills challenge?

I agree China has only 1 solid setter so far after Wei Qiuyue retired. Yao Di has yet to prove herself on the international stage and Diao has regressed since last season, mostly likely to due that ankle injury. There is always a need of a good backup setter for CNT. I think the weakest position for CNT is OP but does not really need a standout when you have Zhu Ting. MBs have the most promising young talent so hopefully someone breaks out to eventually replace an aging Yan Ni. Most of the newcomers will get to play in the VNL since China is hosting and its 5 weeks of games instead of 3, so there are more opportunities for everyone.

No one seems to be a stable opposite position. I worry that Yang Fangxu has not really healed 100% and that her injuries are more worse than what it seems. Lang needs to find a solid replacement to bring to VNL and WCH for experience. Gong I think still deserves a spot to show that she can still recover from her mistakes this season. What's good about Zhang is that she's versatile, when none of the opposites are playing well, Lang can move her there. I wished Chen Peiyan was on the list for opposite. She has good height at 194cm. China has lots of incoming middle blockers that show great potential, Gao Yi, Wang Yuanyuan, and the one I'm most excited to see do well is Yang Hanyu. Though she did not have a star season this year, I see her as someone Lang should invest in and focus on. The libero position I think is between Lin Li and Wang Mengjie, both have the most experience on these bigger competitions against international teams.

I think Li Yingying will make the WCH roster because no one else is better than her to replace Hui Ruoqi. So it is likely Zhu, Zhang, Liu X, and Li as the 4 OHs spots. Whether Li will start will depend on her performance. Lang Ping does not take seniority over skills so Li will replace Zhang if she proves herself. Then Zhang can play as OP because Gong has regressed and Zeng's age could be a problem for a long tournament such as the WCH. Just wishful thinking of course.

I think Li Yingying would first have to prove she can do well in the VNL before making the WCH roster. I think her attack height and block height could be improved and she also needs work more on receiving in addition to remaining healthy. She does show great promise though. I'm sure she will be a stronger and smarter player after the national team training with Lang Ping. I would also like to see Duan Fang instead of Liu Xiatong and see how she does against international teams. Like Li, Duan also needs work on those things as well. My main concern for China is not outside hitters, it's the setter position which is probably also on Lang Ping's mind as she brought in a 6 setters for training.

Hey Tomen, are there any standout or star players to keep an eye on for the future? I'm only familiar with Xu Lu-yao from her recent help in the national team training.

Anyone know if Gozde will be retiring this year? Now would be a good time for Vakifbank to start looking at the future and add some new talent to help out Milena, Zhu, and Naz as expected they'll stay with the team. Lonneke has been hot and cold this season, maybe a new opposite will help relieve the pressure off of Zhu. As for Robinson, she doesn't add that much attacking power for an outside hitter.

Looks like Shanghai will wrap it up. Li Yingying is showing signs of fatigue and Tianjin does not have any other scorers besides her and Liu Xiaotong. Both of them will need to have big games to beat Shanghai.

Although I wanted Tianjin to win this season, it looks like Shanghai will take the crown. There's not enough help from other players on Tianjin's side. Their youth and lack of experience on their roster shows. I will have to admit that even though the Shanghai team is old, they have a lot experience and were able to keep up with Jiangsu and Tianjin. This young Tianjin team overcame some problems and made it this far without any foreign players on their roster. Kim Yeon-Koung was an amazing player in Fenerbahce and still is amazing player in Shanghai. She was definitely the star for Shanghai this season.

The most important outcome for Tianjin this season was the breakout of a new star in Li Yingying and also with 5 of them making the national team training (Li Yingying, Yao Di, Wang Yuanyuan, Chen Xintong, and Meng Dou). They have a bright future in the coming years. I expect them to be back even stronger and hopefully take 1st place next year.

Yeah, sort of dashes my hopes of seeing Wu Han make the team.

But why not do it, I suppose. So much tall timber on the mainland, might as well harvest it.

If you look at the roster Lang Ping brought to Rio 2016, majority of the attackers were either 190 cm or above.

Outside Hitter: Zhu Ting- 198 cm, Zhang Changning- 193 cm, Hui Ruoqi- 192 cm
    Opposite: Yang Fangxu- 190 cm
Middle Blocker: Xu Yunli- 195 cm, Yuan Xinyue- 201 cm, Yan Ni- 192 cm

The only attackers under 190 cm was Gong Xiangyu(OP) 186 cm and Liu Xiaotong(OH) 188 cm.

Setters: Wei Qiuyue- 182 cm, Ding Xia- 180 cm.

Though she is only 183 cm, I still hope Wu Han can join as well. She needs to improve her blocking and attacking height in order to make the team and play against tall international players.

    2. Meng Dou is a kind of "surprise". As the player who replaces Chen Xin-tong, she is still in the 2nd training camp ...
    3. I am still waiting for these people: Yang Zhou, Yu Jia-rui, Chen Pei-yan and Wu Han [Wu has returned Jiangsu VC for VTV Cup 2018 and she participates in the first training camp in order to make up for the absence of the 4th training camp in 2017]

I figured with Mi Yang's recent success of being the setter for Shanghai would've placed her on the list as well. For Meng Dou's situation, I guess Lang Ping see's potential to improve. She is still young born in 1997 and she is tall for the setter position at 189cm.

I hope Chen Pei-yan and Wu Han will join in future training camps, both performed well in the U20 series and show great promise.

Tomen do you know who might be in the next roster for second round of national team training. It must be hard when the main national players are still competing in the league since it is not over yet.

The following players are sure about it:
Qiu Ya-nan [Zhejiang], Chen Zhan [Jiangsu], Jiang Qian-wen [Jiangsu], Ye Qi [Sichuan]
The following players are still unknown but continuing their professional career is hard:
Xu Yun-li [Fujian], Wang Yi-mei [Liaoning]

Both Xu Yun-li and Wang Yi-mei should retire soon for safety. There bodies seems to be getting badly injured, especially Wang Yi-mei after the second game against Jiangsu. Both are great players and have made a big impact on China Women's Volleyball. They have left a legacy for future China Volleyball Players.

This article : ( http://www.sangbe.com/article/328907.html ) stated that with proper training, Xu Lu-yao who added supplement in the recent national team training is seen as Wang Yi-mei's successor. Tomen do you know what team Xu Lu-yao will be joining next year?

It's just a fake. I prefer to believe that Zeng Chun-lei will find a much better foreign club than Pomi Casalmaggiore.
Giovani Guidetti wished that Zhu Ting joined Vakifbank Istanbul in 2013 Montreux but the dream came true in 2016 in fact only because Henan Volleyball is too bad.
Li Ying-ying and Wang Yuan-yuan are the main players of Tianjin VC. Their substitute players are all young and not famous such as Wang Yi-zhu, Chen Bo-ya, Li Ya-nan and Yuan Yu-mo, two OHs and two MBs. Wei Qiu-yue went to Azerbaijan only because Tianjin's setters were too many. In this season, Tianjin's setters are Yao Di, Meng Dou, Li Xue-yin in Tianjin. Chen Xin-tong is in Beijing and Mi Yan is in Shanghai. Therefore, You know what I prefer to believe.

Thank you for confirming Tomen, you're the best with China volleyball news! I agree, Li Ying-ying and Wang Yuan-yuan are the main players in scoring for Tianjin's future. They wouldn't let them go since they are doing so well this season. It's amazing how much effort the volleyball club is putting into cultivating setters.

Also noticed in this article: ( http://www.top-news.top/news-13262942.html ) that a new volleyball player Xu Jing (1.94cm) from Baotou might be joining Tianjin next season. Though I'm not sure if that's what the article said correctly, do you have anymore information on her?

In theory, the date will be after the end of Chinese League 17/18 [the latest time is Apr.3].
However, the announcement of the 2nd training camp should be earlier.
Please wait for it and focus on it: http://sports.sina.com.cn/cva/ (the official website of China Volleyball Association in Chinese language)

    Tomen is this true?

I seen a comment by "Xiaoyan 6961" at the bottom on this website ( http://sports.sina.com.cn/othe…doc-ifyshfuq9866276.shtml ) that said Li Yingying signed with Fenerbahce for the 2018-2019 season and Wang Yuanyuan will join her also. I have a feeling it is fake, but I wanted to make sure and see if you have heard any news about it.

With Xu Yunli and Wei Quiyue having reached the age of retirement along with their injuries, China's main focus should be middle blockers and setters. Yan Ni is also getting close to age, hope she will remain healthy and strong if Lang Ping needs her in 2020 Tokyo. I hope Yang Han-yu will train hard beside Yuan Xinyue.
When are the next dates for national team training?
