just woke up from my latest hibernation and shocker!!! Ary Graça is still alive and at helm of FIVB at the incredible age of 170 (all the money from the IOQT surely helps as a modern and endless source of permanent youth)! which means VNL is still a thing, the core teams are still the same, China is still hosting the finals (now held at the Lang Ping Memorial Arena in Ningbo) and the USA just celebrated their 50th consecutive title. unfortunately the WGP is still held as the main source of points for the ranking purely out of nostalgia, so fuck all y'all europeans
😂

Azerbaijan, Turkey, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Germany, and Poland should make for a fun European qualification tournament 😂
-
It's so funny that almost all the faves looked to be in deep sh... uhm, trouble, at some point, but in the end they all made it through. TBH, the timing of these tournaments was very awkward and it's not surprising that very few teams managed to show their best game.
Very stressful game for Serbia tonight, but that was expected, Poland is definitely a team on the rise and they were super pumped-up. Tijana When it mattered the most, she was there, and that's what great players do.
Russia vs Korea was definitely the highlight of the competition for me, I never expected such a fun and hard fought match. And man, that must be such a heartbreak for the Koreans.
I'm afraid Netherlands might be missing out on the Olympics this time. Hopefully they'll find their spark back, because what they showed in this tournament simply wasn't enough, and they'll need to do much better against Turkey and Poland in January.
Should be a fascinating European QT, anyway. Also, Thailand vs Korea could be a real thriller.
China and Italy seemed to have a smooth qualification actually

Looks like Russia's through

Canada beat 3-0 Dominican Rep in last year Pan American Cup (a tournment which is very important for the caribbeans). In the last Pan American Cup (some weeks before), Domincan slightly beat maple girls 3-2. And Canada was without Autumn Bailey (due to injury).
So Dominican path is bit tougher than the one of Brazil. The southamerican hasnt lost a set in years (maybe more than 10) in CSV competitions.
Huh. Didn't know Canada was this good. Did they improve recently?

Brazil would still qualify in the Olympics yes, but if they fail to win their Olympic ticket tomorrow, this will be a huge psychological blow to them and this will probably hasten the veteran players back in the team
This is why the continental qualifications should be first! And the remaining teams can have this group system
-
It will be a winner-take-all match tomorrow between Brazil and DR.. With how the way Brazil is playing, DR winning against them is not a long stretch either.
The loser would still likely win in their continental qualifications. It's really about Argentina vs. Puerto Rico 😂

Interesting things happen in Bra-Aze match...
Craaaaaazy!
-
Seyma is not good enough to cover Hande, Hande tried to receive more and it caused chaos in the passing formation.
Zehra's attack efficiency is important but her blocking is a big liability. I would start with Kubra against China.
Setting to pins was very inconsistent.
It seems that China will sweep Turkey.
China was a mess yesterday too, they'll also need to step up against Germany and Turkey

Oh, never mind. Thank you anyway!
It probably works with many countries. I just happen to be in Canada and tested VPN to the USA.
And it also has replays/livestreams of other matches too

Need a USA VPN; I'm in Canada and it's not working.

im sure argentina and peru dont like it if DR successfully challenges Brazil.
Just like Korea and Thailand are not liking the current Chinese performance?
-
Dom played really good yesterday, even though Aze didn't show its best and wasn't a threat, except towards the end of the second set.
DOM in this form can surely challenge Brazil, who is still favorite considering also the home advantage. Anyway the loser can easily qualify through Norceca, right?
Actually I think North/Central and South america are separate.

Here's a link to the schedule of upcoming matches: https://www.olympicchannel.com…qualification-tournament/
This is great!

So ... China match at Midnight, Turkey match at 5:00am. That sucks. I can’t do both. Why don’t they prioritize me and my sleep needs when they schedule these things?
Of course, in this case, I will choose early to bed, early to rise, but I want it all 😕
Me toooooooo
Probably gonna watch the China match and hopefully get in bed by 1:40 am haha

thanks, BSS.
Have all matches been available on Olympic channel?

Did they ask Goncharova to prove as well or basically any other girls from the other NTs? This whole thing is still weird to me and how it can suddenly be a problem, she has been with the NT for years and years, I hope she'll just be able to play.
Good to hear she has arrived now though! We need her a lot if we want to beat China.
Guidetti updated it on his instagram
Edit: it's because she's Bosnian and some paperwork got messed up

The count down is starting... Only about 10 days left for the IOQT Group B to kick off at Ningbo - Post #155 - CHN TUR GER CZE
UNLIKE the annual VNL, these will be matches with nothing to save, no reservation, all out by all the available best line-up.... no excuses of training purpose, throwing away, hiding the forte and so on... simply to be better and to win... for the Chinese team, this is the most important event in the 2019 followed by the World Cup. Will be patient to enjoy it.... the very first time of watching an OG qualification tournament under this mini format
That's why this is going to be more exciting than VNL. no one will not try
