Nilüfer doesnt have a OPP but they signed another foreign MB. Sobolska. She isnt even that good+this is their 3rd foreign transfer. I dont get it
Sobolska is not even young and she's one of those players who is lacking in almost every area

I agree about Hayashi. I think Hayashi and Mayu will be able to work better to reinforce the defense and offense. However I think Nakada isn't likely to utilize Hayashi this Olympics because Ishii has more experience and she knows Ishii's style better

Where are they staying? are they going straight to the Olympic Village?

First Pankov siblings. And now Kobzar siblings. What a good legacy. 👏🏽
I like this family pattern. The interest to play volley passes on

I see... I'm glad Foluke's husband and son didn't come with her this time. Hopefully it doesn't escalate any further.

There was a tweet I read awhile back about how Miyashita was the youngest to ever debut in V. League while Momii is the youngest to debut at the Olympics. The transition from Miyashita to Tominaga to Sato then Momii was a whirlwind. I wonder how long it will last for Momii

Which one is she? the video is too small.
Nakada is also throwing her under the bus. It doesn't make sense to say "I want Kurogo to be the ace" despite the obvious difference between her and Koga so that type of reaction is expected.
If you mean Kurogo, she's the one above Kobata on the left, the only screen not looking yellowish
-
Yeah, can't imagine Koga not being #2.
I don't get why Araki is not #5, or why Shimamura is not #9, or why Ishii is not #7 (#7 isn't even taken!), or Kobata not being #14.
They really skipped her # 7 just so she can have 8 but 4 + 4 = 8 (Shinnabe + Nagaoka)
-
no other team has switched numbers that i know of. for example, Ebrar of Turkey still has that #99.... and I honestly can't imagine well known players such as Zhu, Kim, Boskovic*, Egonu, Larson, Goncharova, etc. changing from their numbers (2, 10, 18, 18, 10, 8 )
Saori had #3 and I don't think she changed it much.
* used to be #19 but that was because a more senior team member had #18. Athletes really like their numbers I guess...
Araki, Saori, Ishii, Nagaoka all had default numbers and now Koga sticking with 2 both in the NT and club just like Nagaoka with 1

Erika Araki said this will be her last Olympics. With her daughter now 7, she feels that spending time away from her is not something she needs in the future.
I don’t know if Erika will retire after the games, but I could see it if she plays one more season.
She could be a coach or one of the JVA directors once she retires. JVA is looking for more female on the board

This is Koga and Ishii, right? I think this is the first time I've seen Ishii without the calf compression thingy. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ0izCbBcw1/
Yes that's them.
They're technically still in quarantine right? so the other 5 are still there with them

It sounds like Koga was saying that Nakada appointed Kurogo as the main ace instead of her and to which she responded "Nah it's not a big deal"
Yeah the "this is Kurogo's team" part is rather concerning
-
Koga and Mayu both outscored Kurogo. No one expects her to have an impact in reception so she has to focus on scoring/blocking more than the 2
-
Like you guys have said it - nabeya has it all - left, right, serve, reception, 2nd libero, and a spark when coming in from the bench. What does a 4th mb has to offer?
but i have to say, at the beginning of the cycle(~2017), i wont imagine that both sato and tominaga wont make it, and both shinnabe and nagaoka also wont make it...Acting 2nd libero is Okumura who I'm sure was needed since all 4 of them are attacking MBs to compensate wherever Kurogo falls short

Im wondering if Tokyo OG held last year, would Momii make it to the roster?
Momii wasn't part of the wide roster so no. Ideally it would have been Sato's responsibility but I don't know the exact timeframe of her injury so if she was injured they would have called Miyashita or Matsui.
-
Well I can't say I didn't see that coming. I was getting suspicious when Miyu never played a single game even though she clearly stated in the presscon that she will contribute. I guess her knee just isn't strong enough and making her risk everything for a medal that may not even happen is probably asking for too much.
Her birthday is on July 25, she will probably announce her retirement by then.
Anyway it was fun you guys
are you gonna skip watching tokyo but you won't really be leaving right?

Such a huge feat for Momii having to go straight to the Olympics on her first time in the NT. I think she'll do just fine as long as she doesn't overdo those dumps in an effort to score
