• I do have the famous '96 final on tape. I encoded it already once, but the quality was poor (and audio out of sync). I have to do it again, but I'm a little short on disk storage.
I'l get to it somewhere this summer, promised.

  • That'd be fantastic man! I'll see if I can get myself the means to convert my 30 something VHS tapes in to avi format to repay all you people :)

Waw, 30 tapes - sounds promising, could you give us a hint about what you have in store?

  • Yeah problem is that I don't have a HVS recorder where I live now and that's where my puter is, all the tapes are at my parents house. But I'll figure something out.

I'm from Holland and therefor mainly have matches from the Dutch national men's team and some women. Earliest I have is world league 98'. Have a lot form Dutch competitions as well. Quite a lot of stuff from european championships between all kinds of countries (Eurosport covered it really well 4 years back). Also have some champions league matches from 3 - 4 years back. Something you might enjoy is that I have a few self made tapes of the warm up hitting. In a bunch of those Guido Gortzen bounces his spikes to hit the roof :P

Oh and have a couple of matches from Belgian league back from when Wijsmans was playing at Maaseik.

That sounds interesting seeing him play when he was young :bb: ! Yes please upload that game! Thanks!

  • Nice game between the defending olympic champion and the host country in the preliminary phase.

The USA line-up still counts 4 members of the 1988 Golden starting line-up (Stork, Timmons, Partie, Ctvrtlik <-> no Buck and no Kiraly, who participates in the Olympic Beach Volley tournament).
The Spanish team features Pascual (age 22 at that time, positioned in the middle, not his usual position) and Maroto, a spectacular high-flying hard hitting wing attacker.

The Americans shaved their heads to protest against a sanction imposed on teammate Samuelson (bald in the first place) in one of the previous games.

The sound is messed up a little bit, and video originates from an old VCR-tape, but still enjoyable.

  • 1992 Olympic bronze medal game between USA and Cuba.

First appearance of the Cuban team in an olympic event since ??

They already lost the title game in the 1990 World Championships against the Italians.
I never counted how many titles (if any) the Cubans have won since their reappearance on the international scene(somewhere end eighties) , but I'm sure there aren't a lot.
Always a promising line-up and among the tournament's favorites, but in the end they always fall short.

  • Thanks a lot. Richard!
Yes. you are right. Our NT liked to destroy all their dreams in 1996 and 2000. We like to play against Cuba. Our teams resemble, they are very atletics..Therefore our game always are interesting

I don't understand: Megaupload deleted the 4th set! Is it possbile re-upload it?

Oops, wrong link, I guess. I edited the link of the 4th set in the original post, so you can try that one.

  • Most part of hard-fought set played between Italy and (still united) Yugoslavia in the 1991 European Championships (Germany).
The Yugoslavian line-up is particularly interesting:

    - Ekrem Lagumdzija: Bosnian scoring machine, the Miljkovic of that era
    - Zarko Petrovic: one of my all-time favorite players - takes a number of powerful hits (his style reminds of Georg Grözer sr)
    - Andrei Urnaut: (Slovenian) played in the Italian League at that time, and was one of the best players in the Belgian League afterwards, playing for Maaseik
    - Vladimir Grbic: still very young at that time, his first appearance in an international tournament
    - Culic, the setter en Tanaskovic complete the starting 6.

I managed to recuperate this footage by sticking a broken VHS tape together with a piece of sticky tape.
The images are a little bumpy at first (after all, this game was recorded 16 years ago), but it gets better pretty quickly.

  • Does anyone have the match between Netherlands and Yugoslavia from European Championship 1997???

Thanks for the hard work Richard!

  • I have some 92 Olympics but I need to convert them to a smaller file size. I initialy created them in a DVD mpeg quality file. I will reprocess them in the coming weeks to get them dow to under the size limitation for non-premium users.

  • Yeah world championship 98 would be cool. How bout world league final 96 though???? The last thing that eludes me :(

  • I don't think I ever posted this one, so here you go:

a 45' summary from a game between Mediolanum Milano and Sisley Treviso, played on October 17th, 1991.
No rally-point system, no libero, an occasional jump serve, remember that?

    2 incredible line-ups:
Tofoli, Quiroga, Bernardi, Cantagalli, Tonev, Loro
Stork, Zorzi, Bertoli, Ctvrtlik, Luchetta, Galli

An era in which Italy had enough world class players to staff the majority of these two world class teams.
