Russia - Superliga 2009/2010

  • Also no Filippova, Godina, Nenova, Makarova :thumbdown: Next year Russian federation should first ask the players who wants to participate before the votings are made...
    And coaches didn't really care for the voting of starting line-up either it seems. Anyways not a really spectacular match.
    If Goncharova always plays like this for Russia she's a very valuable addition to the team. Spasojevic also played very well today.

    The timing and organization of the All Star game was really bad:
    1. Russian Volleyball Federation scheduled the event as an appendix to the Cup Final Four;
    2. The next round was scheduled just three days after All Star game;
    3. There was no motivation for teams that do not participate in Cup Final Four to send their players;
    4. No skills competition;
    5. Extremely poor or virtually no attempt to promote the All Star event to broader audience.

    Overall this event exposed terrible organizational skills and abilities of Russian Volleyball Federation. I hope they would draw some conclusions and prepare the next year event better.

    That does not excuses teams that keept their players from participating in the All Star game: Uralochka, Dynamo, University-Technolog and Krasnodar.

  • Russian TV overcome it's strange and suspicious passion to poker, darts and hot eating contests and decided to show all games of Cup's Final Four.

    I put the link to the video of the Cup's final between Dynamo and Zarechie on my website:

  • Oksana Parkhomenko is the best player of the ALL star match in Stars team! Congrats.She keeps on making me happy!

    And Luibov Yagodina was the best in Russian team!

    i think goncharova was the best of all star game...she committed just 1 error during the whole match

    What was the score and line up from the All-Star?

    Rússia 3 x 0 World ( 25-17, 25-21, 25-20)

    1st set:
    Rússia: sheshenina, goncharova, kosheleva, fateeva, merkulova, belikova , kryuchkoa
    World: akulova, mamadova, paula, kuvalchuk, peskina , gendal, sykora

  • I don't like Kuzyutkin's point of view. Russia is not just Sokolova, Godina, Gamova and Estes. In Beijing all four played and Russia failed anyways. Instead of trying to keep the old players as long as possible he should try to make the young ones become better. Kosheleva and Goncharova definitely have the potential to be real big stars soon, but not if they have to spend more time on bench because the "stars" have to play. Some years ago Sokolova was the best player of the world, but I don't think she still is in that shape.
    I really liked the Russian team from 1st set yesterday, if you replace Fateeva with Gamova and use Kabeshova as libero it would be a great team. Goncharova was unstoppable, Kosheleva also played very well, and both are improving in reception, but still have a long way to go. I also hope Belikova and Perepelkina will get more chances, even though they are not so young anymore I think they are among the best Russian MBs.

  • Obrigada! :)

    Gamova is still the best. Goncharova has great potentials, but she needs more experience since she never played for the NT. I do think that both Kosheleva and Goncharova can grow into more versatile players than Gamova, considering both of them can receive serves, but both need a lot of work in this area.

    Estes will not play on NT anymore. Looks Godina would not play too. The reasons are different though.

    Sokolova, if she is healthy, is a big asset because she can do a lot of thing on the high level. But the most important thing she adds to the equation is her experience. Especially now, when Safronova would not be able to play for sure.

    Perepelkina might has some problem because she started playing volleyball in Kazakhstan. It is important to know if she is a naturalized or a Russian player. But she is on the Kuzyutkin's list anyway.

    Belikova made a right decision last year when she left Uralochka. She got much more time as starter in Avtodor and Omsk. With more playing time and exposure she is doing great. She expressed desire to play for the NT, and I do think that she fully deserved that. But it is not for to decide. I really hope Kuzyutkin would invite her.

    Overall, with two veterans Gamova and Sokolova, and several young and ambitions players, Russian team has very good potentials. A lot depends on qualified coaching (which is my greatest concern so far). And of course the girls have to work hard and learn fast.

  • Wouldn't Pankov be a better choice than Kuzyutkin? It's sounded a stupid decison although non Russian speakers know the real reason for the change of coaching.
    Sokolova, Godina and Artamonova (I dont like Estes) are already old players. Kuzyutkin is trapping Russia NT on inviting them to join the team. Italy did the very same and will have harsh problems after the WC2010. Perhaps one of them but the three ones???
    I'd like to ask you guys where Elena Vassilevskaya is. Retired? She was by far the best setter in Russia. While Russia keeps playing Akulovova, Zhadan or Sheshenina (or insisting on them) Russian NT wont win a damn anything. These setters are over bad, a complete disgrace for the NT. By the way is there another option for setting in Russia?
    At last Fateeva shouldn't play in the team. I am sure there's one billion players better than the Miss Up-and-Downs.

  • as for Vassilevskaia she is retired again after playing one season in uralochka..being overshadowed by sheshenina...barely entering the court.....
    for me sheshenina plays well for uralochka but when playing in the NT she does an 180degrees turn of her peformance

  • About Sheshenina I think the same too. I like Startseva. Anyway you guys,don`t worry,Russian team has a great potential. I hope they will win WCH2010,they are my favourites with Italians!

  • As Brazilian my favorite teams is of course Brazil. However I like Russian team. BRAxRUS is a game I always uthopicly wish to be tied. As for Italy I dont like it at all.
