How is the German Cup rules? Could you explain?
They take the teams form the classification of Bundesliga...like the Italian one for example?
-
1st round is with 12 teams from 1st league (so this year because we have 14 teams in 1st league the 2 worst teams of last season and the 2 new teams in 1st league had to play qualification) plus 4 winners of regional cup tournaments (teams from 2nd and 3rd league), and after every round the matches of next round are drawn again.
-
Minor league teams (usually 2nd and 3rd divison teams) have to qualify in four regional qualifiers, where the state champions fight for 4 spots. These 4 teams are set for the 1st round (16 teams) the other 12 spots are filled up with teams from the DVL (Bundesliga). There are 14 DVL teams this year, so there were two qualification matches for the three new DVL teams who were promoted from 2nd division plus Aachen (the team that was at the bottom of the table in the previous season).
Edit: Looks like i'm not quick enough...
-
But you were better cause I forgot that there are 3 new teams (Sinsheim, Lohhof and Postdam)
-
thank you guys! So much
So..from this 16 starting teams (12 from DVL and 4 from the regionals) came the 8 for thsi quarter finals that LosHe put the results...right?Semifnals are best of three games?
---------------------
Another question..hehe..now about DVL...well..actually about SAbrina Ross, she was in NAtional TEam, but she is not in starting team in her team right now..right? why is that...she was injuried or something?Or just a choice from the coach?
-
No best of three games, all matches in cup are direct eliminations. So only one semifinal per match and only one final too. Men and women final will be in one big event in March.
Sabrina Ross got a back injury during European Championship so she couldn't play for about 2 months, now she is healthy again and can play.
-
Ah...I see..
thank you Matthias for the infos!!!^^
I hope Ross can get back to her old shape soon...she did a good job during the World Grand Prix.
-
Can I ask another thing? Some things actually...how is the system of the championship..everyone against everyone then 8 best makes the playoffs? Cause I see here that not every round all teams plays right? and how is the pointing system? victory give how much points?
Who is the biggest champion of bundesliga is Dresdner? Furst used to play there right?Sorry..jsut wantting to know a bit more about German volleyball..hehe
-
There is just a regular season with no playoffs. Points: "the winner takes it all", two points for a victory.
But the system and the league size were changed a couple of times in the last years. Until 07/08 there was a postseason with the top 6 teams playing a small round against each other with the points added to the regular season results. For this season the leagues head office was planning playoffs (just with the top 4 teams in EC mode) - but they postponed it. So it's quite unsure, which system we'll play next season.
Most championships has USC Münster, top teams of recent years are Schweriner SC, Dresdner SC and Vilsbiburg.

Here in Brasil too...all the time they change the system..hehehe
Your team VfB Suhl seems to be going well to wright? I know they have one game more then Dresdner and two from Scweriner but Thumm is playing very well
-
Yes. We had a great start here in Suhl, but the schedule was favouring the VfB a little bit. Saturday we're on the road for tough match @ Dresden. It's a regional "derby" and a quite large group of supporters will travel with the team. VfB was able to beat Dresden in preseason tournaments, but it will be a totally different game on saturday. Our last win @ Dresden was back in 2004.
Yes, Birgit Thumm is playing very consistent, and if Paulina Gomulka and our middle blockers Maja Adam Ilic and Natasa Rapaic are on the top of their game, we'll have a lot of offensive options. I think the main problem will be reception and serving - if they work, we could beat Dresden. But they're the favorite for this match-up. -
