Germany - DVL 2010/11

  • I don´t like this attitude either...

Well, after being suspended by her club, Nicole Fetting is now back in Wiesbaden. Not on the playing field, though, but in the club´s office. Even though it don´t looks like she will play again in this season, due to obvious problems with Wiesbaden´s coach Xiaojun Yang, Fetting hopes to have a conversation with new coach Andi Vollmer in the near future.

  • Just for info, i´ve been informed, that the matches of Vilsbiburg will also be broadcasted again. According to VIB24.TV everything works ok now. I ain´t seen anything, yet, so i don´t know if it really works. We´ll see tonight.

Either in our league are damn good block/defense players...or, which is more likely, many of the OHs and Opps simply suck  It's no surprise where the problems of our NT are coming from.

  • Apitz indeed made the difference, her comeback motivated the rest of the team. Dresden´s victory is ok.
But as far as the title goes, well, there´s still the play offs and they have their own rules ;)
Don´t get me wrong, i ain´t got no problem with Dresden winning the championship. They have a good team, were on top of the league throughout the season and therefore deserve the title.

Ah so it will ahve playoffs this season? Sorry, I though it was gonna be like last season just the robin round, that is why I though Dresden was closed to title. :S

Sorry, well, if still has playoffs, then a lot must still happen indeed.

  • Yeah, there´ll be playoffs this season. First four teams will play 1st against 4th, 2nd against 3rd. Winners will play the finals. Points of the preliminary round do not count.
Same rules like in CEV Cup, home and road game and golden set. So, no matter if you won 3-0 and lost 3-2, there will be a golden set.
    Well, something new every year...

Dresden was leading 14:11 in 5th set but Wiesbaden managed to turn the match thanks to Tasha Holness on serve.

Our league is kind of divided into 3 classes: the top 4 who will very probably remain the same for playoffs, Wiesbaden still have hopes to get 4th rank but it is not very likely. Then the teams from 5th-9th rank all want to reach 5th place which allows to play Challenge Cup next year. The rest of the teams are fighting to stay in the league, Potsdam and Köpenick should be safe, Sonthofen is already sure to go to 2nd league and it also looks bad for Sinsheim and Erfurt now. 3 teams will go to 2nd league (except VCO Berlin = Junior NT) because next season there will be only 14 teams. The first team to come up to 1st league also has been decided, it is Augsburg, 2nd ranked team from Southern division of 2nd league, the champion Lohhof doesn't come to 1st league because they don't have the financial means. Augsburg has a very rich sponsor who wants to build a team that fights for championship, he says that players from Italy, Czech Republich, Netherlands and Germany will come, almost all of them NT players, but the club has a very bad reputation now, they kicked out the coach and some players during the season, and one of those players, Iryna Lukashchuk, sues the club now. She told the press that she never experienced a club that treats the players so badly as in Augsburg, and it has also shown that Augsburg has a lot of financial trouble already now because the sponsor apparently didn't expect the season to be as expensive as it was eventually...we'll see what happens there.

  • TSV Leverkusen´s chairman, Klaus Beck, announced they will also play in the 1st league next season.

The day Iryna Lukashchuk was fired, Augsburg also canceled the contract of her apartment, giving her no time to look for a new one. She had to leave her appartment immediately, landing virtually on the streets with her child. As far as i know, the kid´s only a few month old...

that is really not nice from the club to do....they should be more professionals, and show more repsect for the player, even with the problems....like MAtthias said, there is a reputation to be built, not only money bring players...

  • I hope the league will take a very careful and thorough look at the licence applications. It's a matter of fair play. It would be very sad, if there would be teams beeing relegated, because they hired players fitting to their budget, while other teams do not care about tomorrow and ruining the reputation of the league...

  • Today, 19.30 CET live on http://www.cpm24.tv: Smart Allianz Stuttgart - Rote Raben Vilsbiburg, a very decisive match on the way to the playoffs. Stuttgart wants to win to keep the distance to the 5th rank (which would be out of the playoffs), Vilsbiburg wants to keep the 2nd place after the defeats against Dresden and Schwerin.

  • This is gonna be one tough game for Vilsbiburg. It´s the 2nd match in Stuttgart´s new arena and they are of course motivated to win in there again.
Another interesting match today will be Dresden against Münster. After winning 9 games in a row, Münster is the right opponent to prepare for the playoffs, says Dresden´s coach Alexander Waibl.
