  • Emma Meesseman of Belgium with the MVP trophy[u]

Even before the Belgian fairytale in Oradea had come to a happy ending, even before her team had completed the demolition of France in the final, Emma Meesseman had inadvertently conquered her first title at the Global Vision U18 European Championship Women.
At halftime of the gold medal game the verdict was already out.
The head coaches of the 16 teams that participated in this championship, most of them having suffered at the hands of this unstoppable 18-year-old talent from Ieper, had few doubts and the result was almost unanimous.
Emma Meesseman, the center of champions Belgium, was named the MVP of the Global Vision U18 European Championship.
Truth be told, it was not exactly a difficult choice.
Going into the final, Meesseman was already the top scorer and top rebounder of the tournament.
She remained at the top of course even after the gold medal was hanging around her neck, averaging 16.9 points and 10.3 rebounds.
The leader of Belgium capped her fantastic tournament with an outlandish performance in the final, where she scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds against perfect, until that moment, France.
She is joined in the All Tournament Team by her team-mate, point guard Julie Vanloo, the 'brains' of the champions.
