Moers with fifth victory in a row. Obvoiusly the transfer of DVL Top-scorer Itamar Stein pays out for them.

Great match ahead on Sunday. Berlin is playing Friedrichshafen at home. (16 CET, live on http://www.dvllive.tv)

    Stats

I watched some parts of the match. Berlin dominated the first 2,5 sets until 22:19 in 3rd set, then Friedrichshafen finally woke up and played much better in 4th set. 5th set was balanced with ups and downs, Berlin was lucky with a referee decision towards the end, then Carroll got an ace and Christian Dünnes ended the match with a serve error. Jovovic had some problems so young player Jan Zimmermann replaced him in 2nd set and played until the end, but I don't think he was very good either...many sets were too slow and/or too far from the net.

VfB is dropping a point against CVM  . They still might think of this, when they have to play in Berlin for decisive match in playoffs. Now, the race for first place is open again.

Zimmermann started instead of Jovovic, who came in in third set. It looks like Moculecu is slowly loosing patience with Jovovic.

Next sunday will be big cup final in Halle. Berlin will play against Friedrichshafen and DVV is already doing a lot of promotion. More than 10.000 people are expected.

  • Tomorrow 15.30 CET German Cup Final

Berlin Recycling Volleys vs. VfB Friedrichshafen live on http://www.dvllive.tv

The first real highlight of the season. I really hope, this is going to be a great match.
Itis hard to predict anything, as both teams are more or less on the same level.
Personally i would put my money on Berlin but thats more a feeling than fact based knowledge.
    We will see........

  • Congratulations to VfB Friedrichshafen! They won with a tiebreak! Bratoev did the winning block :)

  • Strange match, unfortunately the teams hardly ever managed to play well both at the same time. I think Shoji had a very weak match today for Berlin, major quality and timing issues with his sets...

    Congrats to VfB

Matthias already made good summary. Both teams with big problems when they had to play "out of system". Whoever served better (or had better "perfect" reception), dominated the set. Anyway, Berlin had it in their own hands and were already leading 10:6 in fifth set. Good services (Geiler, Duennes) and blocking brought change for VfB. In the end it was Kromm who made decisive mistakes.

I agree as well with criticsm on Shoji. Not a good match today. VfB had 19 Block points :white:

Deserved MVP: Max Günthör. 8 Blocks and always on fire. A true leader of the team. I hope to see him back in NT this year.

  • The next one please......... :white:

Moerser SC announced today that they won't apply for a first or second division license for next year. According to their president, three sponsors cancelled their contracts, so that around 500.000 Euros will be missing.

With Bottrop already excluded, and Haching and Dresden still in question, there might be 4 Teams who get lost for economic reasons ;(

Unlike the womans league, there are three teams of second division (Netzhoppers, Lüneburg, Herrsching) who want to promote, but that doesn't really make the situation less dramatic.

  • Matches today:
05.03.14 BERLIN RECYCLING Volleys vs. CV Mitteldeutschland (19.30 CET, one-camera-stream)
05.03.14 VSG Coburg/Grub vs. Generali Haching

Including todays match, Berlin is still playing Bühl and Dresden. If they manage to get 3 points out of all three matches, they will overtake VfB and secure first place before play-off starts.

  • Results:
05.03.14 BERLIN RECYCLING Volleys vs. CV Mitteldeutschland 3:0 (25:15,25:21,25:11)

    05.03.14 VSG Coburg/Grub vs. Generali Haching 0:3 (12:25,24:26,15:25)

Easy victories for Berlin and Haching, who secured third place with todays victory.
