    • Indias de Mayaguez had no home court this year, becuase their Palacaio de Recreacion y Deportes is now used as vaccine center). They sold the rights to play to Ponce, where the Leonas de Ponce are now back (they played in 2017 for the last time).
    • Llaneras do Toa Baja sold the rights to play to the city of San Juan, where a new franchise is now born, Sanjuaneras de la Capital (they have nothing to do with Capitalinas de San Juan).
    • Amazonas de Trujillo Alto may move to Mayaguez or Toa Baja, cities which lost both their franchises. Not sure where they could play in Mayaguez.
    • Polluelas de Aibonito may move to Mayaguez or Juana Diaz, the latter I think never had a pro women's volleyball team.
    • Orientales de Humacao have their last chance to play. They can't ask for another dispensa (they already asked for 2 dispensas, with the 3rd one in a row the league considers the franchise disappared for good). They want to stay in Humacao, but they have political issues in the city. So they may move to Fajardo.

On april 14 teams have to declare their status, whether they play or not.

List of the reserved players here:

Reserved players have time till the free agents and new players draft to reach a deal with their franchises. If they don't, they'll be part of the free agents draft.

This is the orden of the draft:

The imagine shows Toa Baja, but it's Sanjuaneras de la Capital now.

  • Valencianas de Juncos and Amazonas de Trujillo Alto want to merge and play as Valencianas de Juncos! :white::white::white:

If LVSF approves the request, they will have to chose 7 of the 14 players reserved by the 2 franchises. It means new Valencianas de Juncos could be a powerhouse.

    Paulina Prieto - OP

    Genesis Vieira - S

    Karelys Otero - L

    Nydiaris Burgos - MB

    Joselyn Kuilan - OP

    Ivonessa Garcia - MB

    Keila Rodriguez - WS

    Aurea Cruz - WS

    Vanessa Velez - OP/WS

    Alejandra Arguello - MB

    Wilmarie Rivera - S

    Alba Hernandez - MB

    Adriana Vinas - L

    Aida Bauza - OP/WS

+ 2 foreign players and the free agents to fill the roster. :white:

  • Orientales de Humacao officially moved to Gurabo. Tha franchise is safe, but we say goodbye to Humacao and its Orientales.

We don't say goodbye to Humacao, justo to Orientales: Polluelas de Aibonito moved to Humacao. The franchise is now called Grises de Humacao.

    The merge has been approved.

It seems Aurea Cruz, Wilmaries Rivera, Alba Hernandez, Ivonessa Garcia and Paulina Prieto will 5 of the 7 reserved players.

  • Valencianas de Juncos announced their reserved players!

5 of my perceptions were right.

    S: Wilmarie Rivera

OP: Paulina Prieto - Jocelyn Kuilan

OH: Aurea Cruz - Vanessa Velez

MB: Alba Hernandez - Ivonessa Garcia

I expected them to sign a younger pure OH like Keila Rodriguez instead of an experienced OH/OP like Vanessa Velez and I thought they could reserve a NT libero like Adriana Vinas, but they chosed Ivonessa Garcia, which could make sense, considering there are a lot of strong liberos in PR and many of them are free agents.

I think they'll complete this dream team with a foreign OH and MB.

  • Draft orden updated with the new teams.

    • The turn of Amazonas de Trujillo Alto disappared, like the franchise.
    • The turn of Orientales de Humacao now belongs to "nickname" de Gurabo.
    • The turn of Polluelas de Aibonito now belongs to Grises de Humacao.
    • The turn of Indias de Mayaguez now belongs to Leonas de Ponce.
    • The turn of Llaneras de Toa Baja now belongs to Sanjuaneras de la Capital.
  • Grises de Humacao announced Gerardo Batista as head coach and Magdiel Rivera as assistent coach.

Batista is a young coach, first experience as head coach in LVSF. Rivera is an experienced one, he was head coach for few teams in the past years.

Grises de Humacao and Leonas de Ponce made a trade with their reserved players:

Viongellie Pimentel from Grises de Humacao to Leonas de Ponce.

Jennifer Quesada from Leonas de Ponce to Grises de Humacao.

  • Grises de Humacao announced they will play their home games at Coliseo Marcelo Trujillo Panisse.

    More pics here:

The other hall where Orientales de Humacao used to play was demaged by the Hurricane Maria.

Valencianas de Juncos announced there was a mistake with their reserved players and Alejandra Arguello is in the list instead of Jocelyn Kuilan. They made a mistake IMHO: we know Kuilan is a strong back up and could easily start in other teams, but Arguello is a big question mark. We will see.

  • Pinkin de Corozal, as an expansion franchise in 2020, had the right to pick 3 players before the 2021 draft, 1 new player in the league and 2 players not reserved by other franchises.

They picked Brittany Abercrombie, Daly Santana and Ivania Ortiz.

  • Also a note, Brittany Abercrombie has submitted the paperwork necessary to join the Puerto Rican NT.

She never played for the USNT

I think I wrote this in the transfers topic, because it's not necessarily related to LVSF. :win:

  • Another trade among reserved players:

Jessica Candelario from Grises de Humacao to Pinkin de Corozal.

Zoé Sostre and Ninoshka Vazquez from Pinkin de Corozal to Grises de Humacao.

  • Dariana Hollingsworth won't play LVSF. She cancelled her name from the draft list.

There were few corrections. Valencianas de Juncos has now Joselyn Kuilan as reserved player: their change with Arguello wasn't approved.

Santana is no longer reserved by Pinkin de Corozal. There was something wrong with the selection. Pinkin have their extra pick back and will use it before the draft.

The draft is supposed to start in live streaming on Facebook in about 30 minutes.
