    I don't understand.

-Brazil is going to be definetly continental champion, 2nd place will go to OG?
-In the first image say: 5 continental champions, and in the next image say "2nd and 3rd place of CONTINENTAL OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT. This tournament is the same as continental championship?
-Why in women interconental OQT will not participate teams from Europe? Not fair!
and two teams from Africa? sure?

Brazil wont play the continental tournment. They dont need to play it. Remember, they are already hosts.
Then, the asian teams have many chances to qualify. First it is written that 5 Continental Championships will be played. 5 means (CSV, Norceca, CEV, AVC and CAVB). Asia already has a qualifier. So OQT in Japan isnt the asian OQT, right?

Finally, the new system is very tricky. For Norceca and CSV, it is much better finish 3rd than 2nd.

This is Berruto ’s Preliminary Roster. 22 players for the upcoming tournments: World League and World Cup.

Cristian Savani and Michal Lasko are missing. According to sources, Savani will no longer play for Italy and will now focus on his professional career with Al Rayyan (Qatar).

    Preliminary Roster:

    Setters:
    Dragan Travica (Belogorie Belgorod)
Michele Baranowicz (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata)
    Davide Saitta (Exprivia Molfetta)
Antonio Corvetta (Altotevere Città di Castello)

    Outside Hitters:
Simone Parodi (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata)
Jiri Kovar (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata)
Gabriele Maruotti (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo)
    Filippo Lanza (Diatec Trentino)
    Michele Fedrizzi (Diatec Trentino)
Luigi Randazzo (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia Calabria)

    Middle Blockers:
    Emanuele Birarelli (Diatec Trentino)
    Thomas Beretta (Casa Modena) :aww:
Matteo Piano (Altotevere Città di Castello)
    Daniele Mazzone (Exprivia Molfetta)
    Simone Buti (Sir Safety Perugia)
    Simone Anzani (Calzedonia Verona)

    Opposite Hitters:
    Luca Vettori (Copra Elior Piacenza)
    Giulio Sabbi (Exprivia Molfetta)
Ivan Zaytsev (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata)

    Liberos:
    Massimo Colaci (Diatec Trentino)
    Andrea Giovi (Sir Safety Perugia)
    Salvatore Rossini (Andreoli Latina)

I dont understand why Beretta again! :S Has Berruto wacthed Beretta´s performance during the whole league? During the play off? Good to know Buti and Anzani have been called. However, players like Semenzato, De Togni and Cester are MUCH better than Beretta. I dont know if you noticed that Beretta jumps to block with bent elbows... :gone:

I really dont understand how a player like Beretta is a starter in Italian NT. He is too slow and his spike is so poor. He is the weakest link in Modena. I hope Berutto will call Matteo Piano instead of him.

I would say partial revenge. A win in a meaningless tournament is not really a dream job for Italy, but it will for sure boost their confidence. Russia proved once again they are vulnerable in opening games. But don't put Brazil on the first place yet :)

Of course, partly. Just that I wasnt so accurated with the word. I said it a "metaphoric" way. This year Russia already beat Italy twice in important matches. So, like you said, this victory boost italian confidence.
I agree about Russia. The same happened in ECH. 0x3 against, but then they got the gold.

Congratulations to Iran! They have improved a lot. Brazil sweat a lot the last 2 sets. And now, they are 1 set up vs Italy.

Italy took revenge. 3-1 against Russia 28-26, 25-20. 19-25, 27-25. Travica was elected MVP.
Italian receiving was very shaky. The surprise was Piano instead of Beretta in the starting six.

From Russia, the best was Dima. He wasnt so accurated in the serves, but a monster in the other skills. Sivo

About Travica. I dont doubt he is a setter who is above the average in blocking and serving. However, like Ravens#/ pointed, he seems the weak link in his club team. Also in Italian NT he has matches where he is a mess and he isnt replaced. What a pity that in Italy NT one cant know who is the second setter. In this season, first Baranowicz, then Falaschi and in the last ECH, Saitta...
So far, Falaschi and Baranowicz has been qutie impressive in this CL. And both are younger than Travica and less experienced.

I dont know how many times Kooy has been blocked today

I'm not knowledgeable in Women's volleyball as I'm in Men's (in Women's I only follow national team), but at least this Busquets girl doesn't seem too bad for me, she has good height for argentine standars and she isn't old, she can keep improving. Are you sure of that?

I think they have to improve reception though, they could have won a lot easier today if it had been a bit better.

I dont follow so much women´s vball either. Argentinian League is very poor, 2 years ago there were just 4 teams :gone: As you said, for the argentine standard she isnt too bad and she is still young, but for a WCH, she has to improve tons of tons. Argentina has never had a good MB. The only exception is Sosa, that despite of her 180 cms, she is able to block and spike in a good level. The other MB (Busquets, Carlotto, etc) can block teams like Peru, but against other teams, no more than 3 points per set. Orduna has to look for a 3rd MB in order to increase the competition between them. Busquets has improved a little when she played in peruvian league, but it isnt enough.

It´s like playing with 5. In reception, Gaido does a good job and Yamila can improve a lot now that she will play in Russia. :)

Btw, according to CSV, Argetina won 25-0, 25-0, 25-0 8|

Argentina won 25-20, 25-19, 13-9 and the Peru coach forfeited the match (!) because he disagreed with a point the referee gave to Argentina in the third set when everything was already decided!

8| this is the most ashaming thing I have ever seen a coach do.

This coach is a joke :D I dont know if you watched the SouthAmerican championship, but he was close to the same when Peru played against Colombia. And well, that coach even doesnt know how to speak spanish or english

Argentina qualified to Italy 2014! Already 2 sets up (25-20, 25-19) :super: :drink: Castiglione and Nizetich are playing a good match! This is Bastit´s job, who despite of the several loses against Peru, he kept his process with many young players (Fresco, Curatola, Fernandez, Gaido). He commented many times: "Peru is still some steps up because there are veterans like Keldivekova, Chihuan, Soto and Zamudio. Once they retire, Peru doesnt have good players for replace them". And he was right. Fortunately FEVA respected his process despite of the defeats. In other hand, Peru has had 4 trainers in 3 years and the age gap between players is too big (older 37 years, younger 16). I hope FEVA can convince Bossio in order to play the WCH, she is a young player with a great future. And also, Orduna has to look for other MBs.
What a pity for Peru. Since 2010, they have been walking backwards. I´d like to see Leyva in WCH.

Last time was in Germany 2002 (there were Costagrande, Lamas and Pinedo)

I agree. Argentina has more weapons than Peru in order to stop Montano. Fresco, Nizetich and Sosa (despite she is small) can stop her.
The problem is that if the ball passes, we are lost :sos: Just Gaido has a good defense. In contrast, Peru has a bettr libero and their OHs can defend.

Let´s hope someone can help Gaido behind

Brenda Uribe is still pregnant. Keldivekova is retired. She is already 39. Uceda has a serious injury, so she just plays in clubs and García, well, I dont know who is her.

Soto is missing because of a surgery and Rueda has like 3 surgeries. She isnt able to play now.

Congratulations to Colombia! To Montano :super: Today they have the big chance to qualify to the WCH. They just have to win, doesnt matter the score. If they qualify, I hope Colombia could try with another setter...because Mancilla is
Btw, Leyva will be a great star, as well as Brayelin Martinez and serbian Boskovic :teach:

If Argentina wins, all will be decided tomorrow against Peru. The difference between the 3 teams is so narrow, that whatever can happen. In the Southamerican championship, Argentina won 3-2, but we were without Nizetich (good spiker and server, but bad receiver) and Castiglione (setter who is playing in the Brazilian superliga).
