I mean, I kinda agree with the original poster. Volleyball is actually a VERY popular sport worldwide. Poland, Italy, Iran, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Russia, Serbia...the level of competition in both male and female volleyball is becoming better and better, so we also have totally new countries (like Slovenia) joining the scene.

According to Google Trends, when it comes to popularity of Olympic Team sports during the last 5 years, only Football (obviously) and Basketball are bigger than Volley. People were generally searching for more info on volleyball than on Ice Hockey, Handball or even Rugby. look here

I think if they developed a Volleyball game, it would actualy sell pretty well. I mean, if they find baseball or even NCAA games affordable, why not volleyball?

That's fair. (I would highlight they don't make NCAA or baseball games anymore) but that can be altered with their hockey game.

I think the problem with volleyball, is that the actual audience isn't big enough to justify the costs of creating the game for EA. There's nothing on the market to compare to, get ideas for mechanics, etc. They would be starting from scratch. Volleyball, I feel, is just a hard game to create a video game for. They don't want to be grouped alongside the producers of tennis video games (which have all been horrible as well) (Alongside their biggest or second biggest market having little interest in it).

FIFA is the gem of the international market for EA. They earn *so* much money from that product. Domestically, Madden is their money maker. They have two cash cows and don't really need to do more work, even though some of us would wish they would.

    NOOOO!
Please, if anyone is going to make a professional volleyball game, let it not be EA! Nearly all of their games suck nowadays, even the sport ones. Madden NFL was one of their biggest titles some years ago, and now, well... https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/madden-nfl-21

Madden has the same problem as FIFA. There's no competition on the market because EA bought all the rights. So the games are essentially the same each year, just as money grabs for the pay-to-win modes.

I don't think EA would ever make a volleyball game though, it wouldn't earn them the same amount of money

Sorry to obsess on Ogbogu but I'm intrigued by her. I looked up last year's VNL and WC stats and she seems to be a lot more of a blocker than an attacker. I missed a couple chunks of the match today and don't remember her attacking at all (though she had 9). What is her style? A slider or a HULK SMASHER up the middle? Or both?

She does a bit of both. She's the best blocker on the US NT

She didn't have many attempts today. Between not great passing and setting TB/JT, there wasn't many times where she was a good option.

What strange rel with kim and the NT? 🤔 Maybe because she refused to play last season and decided to rest 😁.

The only chance of plummer to play in Olympic 2021 is for rob to move to libero and JT to play as OH and her as sub for drews. Larson and rob are almost the same. If you put them against strong team no one will score but drews. I will still go to bartsch-Hill.

Kim and Karch have always had a weird relationship. On paper she's our best OH, but she's fourth choice for Karch. Her best performances haven't come for/with the NT.

Plummer won't be there in 2021. I meant after. The future of the NT has JT on the left and Plummer on the right.

Jordan Larson having her spot lock is showing how stupid Karch is as coach. IF that is true.

This is off topic, sorry, but Thompson needs to play as OPP not as OH for US. For this Olympics, She is far from getting her spot for this Olympics as OH.

She probably won't be an OH this Olympics, but her future is there. Because that opens the door for others (Plummer) at OPP.

Larson, Krob, MBH are all locks. Kim will effectively be a lock but she has a strange relationship with the NT. Adams will have to look towards the Kingdon route, getting on the VNL rosters, Pan AM tournaments, etc. as her path.

Larson is definitely still the #1 for Karch/USNT for the time being. I would say if any are on the outside looking in (in Karch's perspective) it's Hill.

Adams will have a tough time getting a call. Those four plus Jordan Thompson being moved to the outside for Ecza. will stop that. Plus playing with Imoco, the performances need to be taken with a grain of salt. Not taking any credit from her, she can definitely earn her way to the team, but it'll be difficult esp. with Karch and the USNT's culture.

Any news about those still in Anaheim and why they are still in Anaheim when others are already leaving for their pro seasons?

if their still in anaheim it's because the country they're going to haven't allowed them in yet. Most of the athletes in Italy have left/arrived this past week. I think the majority of the ones still stateside are Japan/China.

I completely agree! She reminds me a lot of Lee. They both are such a high jumpers and powerfull attackers, but aren't good receivers. Pressley would be perfect for the Japanese league, where she canbe covered in serve receive and she can focus on attack. If she wants to be usefull for USA NT, she should develop a lot in serve receive.

Pressley is even better than Lee imo. Pressley would do insane things in Japan with that jump of hers.

I wish Lee would've stayed in Germany. I think that would've helped her development a lot.

Stumbled upon this video of one of USA's promising wing spikers, Yossiana Pressley. I don't watch much NCAA, but I've read some posts that her reception and back row defense needs a lot of work in order to become a well rounded OH. Her serve could also use some improvements, but definitely someone to look out for. :box:

Yoss is a brilliant attacker and an elite (for the NCAA) blocker. However, her defense is subpar. She is not a good passer. And her serve is terrible (she stands like 10-15 feet behind the baseline)

She definitely has the potential but to be an all around OH for the National Team is going to be a lot of work

I would be shocked if there was a season. I just don't see it. The rise in cases is not helpful, colleges still up in the air regarding their plans.... such a mess

I think it's more not wanting to be abroad/be stuck abroad while the pandemic occurring. I don't know specifically what town she's currently living in, but hometown's county has a total of 52 cases, ever. Whilst the town of her husband has just over 200 total. There's not many safer places to be in the US than rural Iowa and Nebraska. Plus going to veterinarian school was always her big goal once she finished college here in the States. She wasn't even sure she was going to play pro or for the national team. If I had to bet, given the pandemic situation, she's going to maybe start Vet school or stay and help on her families farm. (I could very well be wrong)

Hellvig not returning to Hawaii. How's it looking for other foreign players?

She's the only one I've seen so far. The govt back tracked on the plan to not allow foreign students who were only enrolled in online classes.... But I feel if there are only online classes for the fall, we may not see college volleyball anyways

Purdue had a really strong 2019 season, falling in the regional semifinals to #1 Baylor in four sets. Purdue had 6 wins vs T25 teams in 2019, capped with a thrilling win over #5 Nebraska. Purdue will be hungrier for more in 2020, under the guidance of long time coach, Dave Shondell.

    Key Losses:

    MB Blake Mohler- HM All-American

    MB Shavona Cuttino

    Key Returns:

    OH Caitlyn Newton -HM All-American

    S Hayley Bush

RS Grave Cleveland- 3rd team All-American

    OH Emma Ellis

    DS Maddie Schermerhorn

    DS Emma Terwilliger

    DS/L Marissa Horung

    DS/L Jena Otec

Purdue has a lot of depth, 12 players played more than 30 sets in 2019 and most of them return. Their pin trio and their setter are the biggest pieces that they return. Caitlyn Newton will look to establish herself as one of the most complete outside hitters in the conference while Grave Cleveland hopes to do similarly on the right.

Middle blocker will be the biggest question mark for Purdue in 2020. Graduating was All-American Blake Mohler (now slated to play pro ball in Germany) and Cuttino, a solid presence in the middle. Looking to fill their positions are junior Jael Johnson as well as three new recruits. Johnson split time with Cuttino, she will look to take on a bigger role. Passing will still be a question in 2020... Horung looks to have claimed the libero jersey in 2019, but Purdue has a roster with experienced DS's should there be need for change.

2020 will be the year to step up for Purdue. Purdue has been a relative middle of the pack team in terms of being elite in the B1G... This could be the year for Purdue to really step out and become one of the top teams in the conference.

We love conversation! Too bad the season is in quite the loop at the moment. I’ll help with the B1G and Big East as much as I can
