  • After all, I was wrong about the game against Olympiakos. It wasn't difficult at all. In fact Iraklis made it easy. Our performance was really good. Our coach, Harry Brokking, prepared the team very well.
We stopped Kunnari and Tzourits and our serve tactic disorganised Olympiakos' reception. Our attacks from the middle were unstoppable and so was Yosleyder Cala. He finished the game with 14/19 attacks and he was really impressive, espesially when he performed the pipe attack. His style reminds me a little bit of Leonell Marshall. From the other side, Miljković tried to beat us all by himself, but he wasn't enough.
My team showed that it has the potential to achieve something good this season, as long as we continue the hard work. On the other hand Olympiakos has some great players, but they don't work as a team.

A few pictures from the game :

  • Iraklis played a really good game against Olympiakos.Olympiakos played without the two Brazilians but this is not excuse. The coach of Iraklis is genious. Finally Iraklis made a very good team without too much money.Their problem will be their opposite Gasparini.Roumeliotis i am sure is much better.I am waiting to see the team of Patra.I think it will be the big surprise of this year.

You're true about Gasparini. I don't think he is good enough for Iraklis. He is very good server but he is very weak in attack.
I am quite optimistic about our other players, except him.

  • An impressive start for the teams from Thessaloniki. I said it during the summer that with those new signings Iraklis might have some problems at the beginning, but I guess Brokking has done a great job before the start of the season to find the rhythm of the team. A really astonishing 3-0 away at Olympiakos even though they had names missing, with players like Miljkovic, Kunnari and Tischer inside Olympiakos can't complain! Another topic I mentioned during the summer was the choice of new players for Iraklis - I think Cala and Baranek are terrific, many people were not sure whether Kral was the right choice in the middle, but for now he seems decent, I think he will fit quickly enough, but I am also a bit sceptical for Gasparini... In my opinion, Iraklis needed more class after Nilsson left, I hope the performance of Gasparini will boost dramatically so that he does not drag the team down... Aris and PAOK also seem very balanced teams, with EAP and Olympiakos getting into shape I think the Greek league has never had so much glamour :)

  • Aris, Iraklis, PAOK, it seems that clubs from the Thessaloniki are very powerfull this season :)

Iraklis is always strong. This season Aris and PAOK have strengthened a lot and they will cause many troubles to the big 4. In fact, they already do.

This year's League is the most exciting and most unpredictable in the last 10 years.

On Friday, Olympiakos played with full squad (Caldeira is back from his injury), but couldn't win. I watched the game and I must say that Olympiakos should feel lucky with the 1 point they gained. Aris could have won easier but some of their players made silly mistakes (espesially during the 1st set), because they are young and inexperienced.

I don't have any comments about the game between Iraklis and Panellinios. My team was better and won easily. We found some difficulties during the 1st set, but that was it. Yosleyder Cala was the best once more, followed by Gasparini (13/18 attacks).

I couldn't watch the game between Panathinaikos and PAOK. From what I've read, PAOK was better for 2 and a half sets, Panathinaikos improved and managed to equalise the game. The tie-break was a real battle. Olli-Pekka Ojansivu scored 2 aces and gave the victory to PAOK. Panathinaikos played without Samica. He was injured (broken finger) during Friday's practise. He will be out for 4-5 weeks, so he will miss the games against AEK and Olympiakos.

  • For Panathinaikos did not play Samica because of an injury. The level of the rest outside hitters is too low.My team will need for sure another player otherwise we can not play a good championship...

  • First post :D

Nice to be in an all voleyball forum

Both pao and olimpiacos has shown very weak reception in their first games. Aris and Paok scored 10-15 aces and although this season they have acquired a couple of good servers the number is huge. I watched the games yesterday and panathinaikos was lucky to get the point. If it wasn`t for the yellow card at the 4th set the score would have been 1-3. Samica is a big loss and panathinaikos in november has to face Iraklis and olimpiacos (and european games) Tough schedule.

I have a somewhat different opinion about Gasparini. He is definately not Nilsson no argue but imho he fits better to a balanced team like this season`s Iraklis. The team now has more offensive options compared to last season when Tishcer had as first option Nilsson , second Nilsso , third Akhrem and then by far everyone else
For me the biggest gamble is Prousalis.

Great serving from Jekov, very good blocking from Yordanov, His attack is still not at 100% (usually he makes over 70% efficiency in the Greek league), but still excellent :)

  • Jekov is trying to be better on service than Kazyiski and Nikolov together - 11 aces for 9 sets :D I don't mind this, but i want to see some aces in the national team, too :super:
