MEVZA 2010/2011

    Biggest surprise in terms of quality in last season beginning quite early this season, with one new team: Team Club Austria - NT of Austria will play this league as preparation for EC 2011 in Austria :what: :cheesy:


    So now ten teams, 8 same as last year, only Croatian team Kaštela new (instead of Zagreb) + Austria NT , first games will be:

    Will be interesting to see who left team besides Zhukouski and Galic, no other definitive leaving until now (as known), new coach (Malevic left :( ), looking forward to see new lineup of heroic Mladost :win:

    Will Marcus Guttmann play in this Team Club AUSTRIA??? I don't know why he never played in Hypo Tirol or hotVolleys because i think he is an OH with a lot of potencial..


    It's a good opportunity to Austria NT to get a good result in Ech.

    Thanks Raul for the info...He is young and the best player of his generation. I would be nice to see him playing in this team of Austria.

    Me too, and all did, but coach and 4 players left (confirmed Rajic and Zanic also...), that will be extremely hard to achieve this season with new kids in lineup....

    Policy of reducing costs, so Mladost played their "home" match this morning just outside Vienna, had 21:19 in 4th and 12:10 in 5th :gone:
    Just to add, this season important OH Knezevic didnt play due to license problem, with him wins will come :flower:

    This should be highlighted, Ivan Mihalj (best attacker of challenge cup final four 2010) had 10 blocks today alone :obey: :obey: :obey:


    I really dont recall anyone had double digit blocks, i saw somewhere on this forum rank list of best scorer games but this one would surely be high on best block game top list :thumbsup:


    p.s again Laimer (guy with who Vienna last season in lineup as OPP had 0 wins until Nagy is brought) played 25+ pts game, almost unbelieveable improvement since last season :cheesy: 8| 8o :wacko:

    Petr Konecny had 13 blocks (including 6 in the 5th set alone!) in the french cup semi final against Poitiers last season. He had 10 blocks in a championship game against Tourcoing in 2008.
    Moïse Jeanlys (Dunkerque) also had 13 blocks in a pro B game last season.


    In Italy, record is held by Francesco Fortunato with 12 blocks, Konstantin Shumov had 11, and 5 players (Burgsthaler, Daquin, Mester, Endres Gustavo and Geric) had 10.

    After this introducing 5 rounds unfortunately IMO level of volley in MEVZA comparing to last year is significantly lower :( :( :( Last year it was top 5 league in Europe, this season it will be very very low. Only Bled with decent signings will keep pace in CL, other teams are all much much weaker than last season. Afterall, all best league players left, Galic, Zhukouski, Bencz to Italy, Rajic to Greece, Venno to Germany and so on, so quality level dropped and hope someone new will raise this season, there is plenty space for prospects in this season...Austria team played without best players so isnt weird to loose both games this weekend, and today they will face Posojilnica.

    In last week Hypo Tirol showed some good form dealing two hard away games without loosing a single set with Paulo Victor COSTA DA SILVA scoring 39pts in 2 games. Posojilnica also keeping pace, 2 wins in last week, top of the table is already formed. Unfortunately, Mladost Zagreb lost one of key players for this season due to transfer to Qatar so this is going to be very bad season for our team. Maybe in new year something will go better, but until then we can hardly beat anyone in this league :white:

    In this 2 week period, many games were played, and ACH Bled confirmed class with clear 3-0 ratio with 9-0 in sets. Also Posojilnica and Mladost Kaštela won twice and progress on the table. On the other side,Kaposvar definitely team in worst shape, loosing all 3 games and winning only 1 single set. Also winningless is hotVolleys Vienna with 0-2 ratio...
