  • if brayelin plays OH, does that mean she has to receive serves? or do they have the OPP pass?

about christine anthony, if she's such a phenomenon, does she play abroad professionally? and i bet the netherlands really wish they could have her in their NT...

Brayelin Martinez played as regualr OH, but she didn't have to receive less than 20% of all b*lls ^^ Gina Mambru which is Dominican OP didn't receive at all.

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • Due to health problems Stephanie Enright (OH) and Karina Ocasio (OP/OH) won't play in qualification tournament.
She'll be replaced by Michelle Nogueras (S) and Legna Hernandez (OH), so they have 3 Setters in 12-roster now  maybe one of them will play on wing if necessary...

    S: Mojica, Valentin, Nogueras
    OP: Velez
    OH: Cruz, Rosa, Santana, Hernandez

Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • Puerto Rico will be probably the last one team from NORCECA which will advance in this round. Comparing with other Pools in NORCECA this tournament is also so predictable

Host beat Costa Rica in first game 3-0 (25-20 25-14 25-19), while today they beat Saint Lucia also 3-0 (25-4 25-9 25-10) :!:
Their last opponent before final will be Barbados and later in final it's rather obvious that they'll meet Costa Rica again...

Puerto Rican coach Jose Mieles switches players so often, only Deborah Seilhamer and Vanessa Velez are playing all time. Seilhamer is only one libero (they don't need another one ^^), while Velez just doesn't have a backup here, because Karina Ocasio isn't here (couldn't they find a backup OP ?( they could take Alvarez, Ferrer, Ruiz, Jimenez, Collazo or even Wingate (convert her for a while) instead of Nogueras as 3rd Setter  ).

It seems that Velez with Seilhamer will get some individual awards here :teach: MVP, best server, scorer, OP, receiver, digger, L, ...
there are so many to take :D just look what did Dominicans at home - mostly Mambru with Binet ^^

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • Final tomorrow as expected: Puerto Rico - Costa Rcia

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • Puerto Rico smashed Barbados 3-0 (25-4 25-8 25-8], these tournaments in NORCECA are such a nonesense

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • Puerto Rico qualified as last team in 2nd Round of NORCECA qualifications beating Costa Rica 3-0.

    Pools' Update:
    POOL A - Roma:
Italy, Dominican Republic, Germany, Argentina, Croatia, Tunisia

    POOL B - Verona:
Brazil, Serbia, Turkey, Canada, Cameroon, Bulgaria

    POOL C - Trieste:
USA, Russia, Thailand, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, NORCECA Play-Off (Trinidad&Tobago, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica)*

    POOL D - Bari:
Japan, China, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Belgium, Azerbaijan

So there's one place left, 3 main contenders seems to be Mexico, Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago.

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • Individual Awards in Puerto Rico:
MVP - Vanessa Velez (Puerto Rico)
Best Scorer - Vanessa Velez (Puerto Rico)
Best OP - Vanessa Velez (Puerto Rico)
Best OHs - Aurea Cruz (Puerto Rico), Verania Willis (Costa Rica)
Best MBs - Lynda Morales (Puerto Rico), Thonya Joseph (Barbados)
Best S - Natalia Valentin (Puerto Rico)
Best L - Deborah Seilhamer (Puerto Rico)
Best Receiver - Deborah Seilhamer (Puerto Rico)
Best Digger - Sancha Isidore (Saint Lucia)
Best Server - Vanessa Velez (Puerto Rico)

As I predicted Velez got 4 awards like Mambru :D meanwhile Seilhamer got only one less award than Binet ^^ 9 awards overall for Puerto Ricans - Cruz, Valentin and Morales also got awards.

Tournaments in NORCECA were so predictable, no we'll have fight for last spot in Trinidad & Tobago between 2nd and 9th June.

    Participants:
Trinidad & Tobago (host), Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica)

Winner will play in Pool C in upcoming WCH.

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • wonderful. so mexico gets to go to the WCh but not korea or poland? something is wrong with this picture!

Totally agree, NORCECA has at least one spot too many which should be given to CEV or AVC

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • well, kondzio, i think part of the problem is that some top NORCECA teams are highly ranked (like US, DR and until recently cuba) so that would give them extra spots. but there's a steep drop-off in quality after these 3 teams and PR from the rest. problem is like much of the rest of the developing world that women's sports is not given much support. look at tunisia and egypt, if they only supported their women's teams as much as the men's. even australia, they have a great men's team but a sucky women's team. or iran. you'd think that many developing countries should be great women's teams since VB is about the only sport women can do in their countries.

also, i guess nobody expected kazakhstan to beat korea in the qual. (is there a vid of that match? i can't find it on YT.) maybe if there was an extra spot for asia, we would be complaining about kazakhstan being in the WCh? i don't know. sure it's not a perfect system but the quality of NORCECA after the top 4 is sad.

  • Did someone understand where pools E and F will play? ...I mean, in which cities both pools will be held in?!

    http://italy2014.fivb.org/en/n…round-tournament?id=45935

Milan will be the host of the finals. I guess that Pool E & F will be held in Milan and Modena (don't know which Pool where), but it's just my guess, they should announce these pools with venues earlier

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game

  • Milan will be the host of the finals. I guess that Pool E & F will be held in Milan and Modena (don't know which Pool where), but it's just my guess, they should announce these pools with venues earlier

They say this in the article "The top four teams of each pool will advance to the second
round (in Bari, Trieste, Verona and Modena), where the 16 teams will be split
into two pools of eight ...
    "

Looks like four cities will host Pools D & E, but they don't say the specific cities for each pool... I need to organise my trip to Italy and so far FIVB isn't helping ... :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:
