Germany - DVL 1. Bundesliga 2013/14

  • In Potsdam, Anika Zülow has agreed to return to the team because of all the injuries. She had originally retired after last season but she's only 25 years old...but they still want to make another transfer, they already sent back two players who weren't good enough and soon they'll try a Canadian player.

In Stuttgart, Svenja Engelhardt has an abdominal muscle injury and will be out for 2 weeks. Lauriane Truchetet has a knee injury and will be out until January. How convenient that this happens right after the manager complained about her in press, now he has a good reason to sign another setter

This week, the quarterfinals of DVV Cup are played. It starts today with Dresden - Hamburg (because Hamburg plays Challenge Cup on Wednesday), other matches are on Wednesday. Three matches will be broadcasted on http://www.dvl-live.tv as 1 camera stream :super:

    18.11.2013 | 20:00 Uhr | DVV-Pokal Viertelfinale: Dresdner SC – VT Aurubis Hamburg
    20.11.2013 | 19:00 Uhr | DVV-Pokal Viertelfinale: Schweriner SC – Allianz MTV Stuttgart
20.11.2013 | 20:00 Uhr | DVV-Pokal Viertelfinale: Rote Raben Vilsbiburg – Ladies in black AACHEN

  • Drawing of lots for the DVV Cup semifinals will be in Vilsbiburg right after the match against the ladies in black.

  • Hamburg gives Dresden a hard time in 1st set and loses only 27-29. Hamburg playing with 3 MBs (Pettke as OPP, but Wedekind also attacking from 2/4 sometimes) and 2 liberos (Sliwa for reception, Behrens for defense)...

  • Update about Saskia Hippe.

She is in Berlin with her family and doing rehab there. She says the first few days after her injury were terrible and she couldn't think about anything else, but now she is positive again and her knee makes good progress

Anja Brandt definitely won't be back before the playoffs either :|

  • Saskia :drink:

AACHEN :super: :super: :super: :D :P

Even though Aachen lost the league match in Vilsbiburg very clearly, I think they might have a good chance tomorrow. Hagglund and Miyashiro have just returned from WGCC and Miyashiro still has problems with her back, Bartsch is injured and Mesa and Alves also at least not completely healthy. Could be a tight match :box:

  • Tamari Miyashiro went home to USA after WGCC to get treatment for her back. She probably won't be back in Vilsbiburg before January...on the good side, Liana Mesa will be able to play today and the injury of Michelle Bartsch might be less serious than expected.

Reminder: Today, Cup QFs on http://www.dvl-live.tv

    Reports of the weekend:

    Wiesbaden - Münster

    Vilsbiburg - Stuttgart

    Hamburg - Thüringen

  • Thank you Matthias for update, it's a good to hear about her.

Wir vermissen dich Sassi ^^ :P

"Lo sbaglio più grande e quello di credere di aver vinto prima ancora di giocare la partita"

  • Aachen lost 18-16 in 5th set :wall: :wall: :wall:

After being ahead 8-4 and having match point at 14-13 :wall: Bednarova forgot her serving tactics at 14-13, all the time she took Lamb out of attack with short serves and at 14-13 she made a long lollipop serve and Lamb had no block in the middle, and in the end a very simple serve of Lamb ended the match :aww:

Aachen had the chance of their lifetime today, but they still don't have the confidence and winner mentality to close such matches :S

Indeed 8-4 in front...and almost 9-4 (mistake by referee imo)...Aachen's OHs made too many (unforced) errors afterwards...

  • Cup quarterfinals:

Agree, it should have been 9-4
It wasn't just the OHs, everybody in Aachen lost the rhythm. I didn't understand why Ponte played so much today...OK, in 2nd set, Aachen started to play better when she was on court, but it was certainly not BECAUSE of her...so when Femke entered as substitute later, she didn't have the same rhythm with her MBs that she has as full-time setter...and that ball at 14-14 will haunt Weihenmaier for a while too, the whole court in front of her and she misses it :aww:

  • Where do they post the MVPs?

Technically OT, but since no-one reads the CEV CC thread: Hamburg beat Bratislava 3-2 :super:

Oh right, I totally forgot about that match

In league matches, the MVPs are posted in the match detail page. In the Cup matches, it's either in the E-Scoresheet or only written in the clubs' press releases/Facebook sites.

  • DOL for Cup semifinals (14 December):
Rote Raben Vilsbiburg - Schweriner SC
    Dresdner SC - VolleyStars Thüringen

EDIT: According to some FB comments, the DOL was (again) very suspicious  One of the balls containing the club name was already lying open in the bowl...fans who watched it are very angry and I can understand it, after the QF DOL was made behind closed doors now there are controversies again :wall:
