Vilsbiburg vs Münster sounds like it will have some seriously depleted teams... Lisa Thomsen now out with a cold, so Münster three down, Vilsbiburg six down including one on international duty.

Thomsen is a new player out, so it may be four for Münster in total - Vilsbiburg has even worse setup with 6 (!) missing players.

Also Erfurt and Straubing have injury and unavailability issues. This is not that dangerous for them, because currently it seems, that at most one (what seems unlikely to me) team from second leagues (Northern surprise leader Skurios Volleys Borken) considers seriously an application for a first league license next season, so no team from first league should go down due the lack of applicants for first league licenses (nearly for sure, there will be at most 12 of them, so every financially sound team with acceptable hall should get one).

Today:
18:00 Erfurt - Straubing19:00 Vilsbiburg - Münster
Tomorrow:
16:00 Suhl - Potsdam
17:30 Dresden - Wiesbaden
As said above, many teams are missing players. In Erfurt, all 3 MBs plus the starting OPP have minor injuries. In Straubing, the starting setter is already with Austrian NT for ECHQ preparation and the backup has zero experience plus also a minor injury and they still haven't managed to find a new MB, so they'll have to use once again the 15 year old girl who isn't even usually playing as MB
Vilsbiburg has almost no players left, still many injured plus Thompson in Trinidad NT now, so I assume they'll have no choice but to play with youth player Paula Hötschl as starter. I wonder if van de Vyver will play today or if she's with Belgium NT already.

Belgium is already qualified for Eurovolley 2019.

Ridiculus FIVB schedule. This is the result.

It's not, that the CEV is doing much better...

Belgium is already qualified for Eurovolley 2019.
But they still have to play the two remaining matches. Finland is also already qualified, but Wiesbaden will miss Nathalie Lemmens and Laura Pihlajamäki against Schwerin in the TV match on 9th January because both are called to their NTs, so if Alexis Mathews doesn't recover from her injury by then Wiesbaden will be left with only one MB and VBL refused to allow them to reschedule the match.

Most of the useless CEV tournaments are demanded by FIVB. It all starts from FIVB.

Vilsbiburg vs Münster is an exhibition of youth: Vanessa Agbortabi (20 years), Iris Scholten (19) and Paula Hötschl (18) vs Lina Alsmeier (18), Linda Bock (18) and Luisa Keller (17).
In the long run Keller should convert to OH, she won't make it to the absolute top as OPP with her height...
-
Small upset of hosts Erfurt by Straubing in three sets: both teams swapped their places in the table, so Erfurt is now trailing the professional clubs behind Straubing.

Potsdam signed Gryka as backup (?) setter a few weeks ago and now they're not even taking her to matches, saying "she hasn't practised enough yet" I guess even without much practise she'd still do better than the 18 year old girl they now have on bench who has yet to play a single rally in 1st league IIRC. They're doing such weird things, first the Carli story and now this

Not the best match, but at least Suhl and Potsdam are fighting.
-
Nia Grant's level has dropped so much since when she was in Stuttgart She serves like Polanska and can't kill anything in attack.

I was thinking the same. So sad.

Also Drpa looks quite inconsistent.
