Dresden vs. Aachen was kind of rollercoaster match, in sum Dresden got more points, but not in the required manner to win the match. The duel of the day was anyway in Suhl, an epic match won by the closest possible margin by Münster. The weekend will see another major duel of two of the four to six place teams in Münster (sixth now) against currently fourth Potsdam, these three are rather close in the ranking now.

Financial fact regarding the big national DVV Cup finals on 24. February: for sure also because Sport1 will air on free TV the women's final (16:15 CET scheduled), but not men's final, the two main sponsors of the women's teams are advertising on the LEDcon displays, Allianz for Stuttgart and Palmberg for Schwerin. This may help financially in future, I hope, because our best women's teams definitely need more money to stay respective get more competititve especially in the European Cups.

The first of the two most interesting matches today (the other is still in early stage, but Vilsbiburg won the first set against Dresden) Aachen vs. Schwerin was won by the defending champions, who experienced only in the first set big resistance (27:29).
-
Vilsbiburg won also second set at home against Dresden - the latter team is now both in serious trouble in this match as well as in the championship.
-
And Vilsbiburg downed Dresden in three sets. I think, this season will become another lost one for Dresden, they will never get any farther than to the semis of the championship, the same final series as last seasons is nearly unavoidable (Stuttgart vs. Schwerin).
-
Maybe Alexander Waibl is now too long head coach in Dresden and can't anymore give a positive development to the team? He is there for a decade now.
-
Important match in Münster today: Potsdam won in three mostly close sets, Münsters headcoach Teun Buijs claimed they were tired a bit in the fourth match in 8 days - yesterday they needed four sets against VCO junior team. Anyway, this alongside with the expected win of Aachen against VCO delivers now following order on the ranks 4 to 6 in the league, which are close and important for playoffs: 4. Potsdam (one match less than the other two), 5. Aachen, 6. Münster.

That means, that Wiesbaden is nearly for sure out of contention for the playoffs (first eight teams). Vilsbiburg won 5 of the last 7 matches each with three points, they lost only to Stuttgart (both times without winning a set). Schwerin will have no easy time in Vilsbiburg next time...
-
Just discovered: at average 70.000 viewers at Sport1 free TV station on Wednesday for Wiesbaden vs. Vilsbiburg. Not bad, but no good either...
-
Aachen travelled to Suhl without Divoux, Agost, Oude Luttikhuis, Imoudu and DeGeest (in addition to Storck who is injured). Either the team suffers from a major flu epidemia or something very strange is happening there Knip is going to play as setter today and the team is without libero and with only 7 players, of which two are from their 2nd team
-
Aachen isn't doing a bad job so far I think the middles aren't going to attack manny balls, because knip is bumpsetting most of the times.
-
Lisa Gründing is even hitting from 4 and 2 out of reception and Farrell hits high balls through the middle, but Suhl can't benefit yet.

After 2nd TTO Suhl managed to exploit Aachen's reception weaknesses finally. In Suhl Rene Sain is still missing, there has been no official news about her knee injury yet but she was out of the roster ever since it happened. The 18 year old girl replaces her fairly well though.

I find it funny to watch Knip isn't the problem, but the weak receiving. It took Suhl awhile to figure that out.

Aachen's FB site confirms my guess: the absent players are in bed with flu.
