French 2011 WL selection opposite Mory Sidibé will be Nikolov's backup in Piacenza ...

That's strange. He was practically first opposite in Maaseik this season. Now, he's a backup of Nikolov, but I think he's not that good to play already in Italy... :|
He has a great jump and a powerful attack and serve, but he's a little bit... brainless. :D. Nikolov has a great attack and serve too, but he's more clever than Sidibe.

But yeah, he's a backup. If Nikolov hasn't got injuries next season, Nikolov will play 95 % of all matches :D.

Can someone confirm that the contract of Schöps in Iskra Odintsovo the end of this season ends? I like him as a player, but he's playing a long time with Odintsovo and I heard that some Italian clubs are interested in him...

It should be great if he plays next year in Cuneo (because I heard next season Nikolov won't play there anymore (= rumor)).

    Other transfer news:

    - Radovic possibly plays next year in Roeselare again

BTW, it should be great if De Cecco next season will play in Europe. He's one of my favourite setters and he totally deserves to play in Italy or Poland.

Great shock in Roeselare. After tragic play offs matches, they didn't make it to the play offs final.

Today, Knack Randstad Roeselare informed Kristof Hoho, Ivan Contreras, Tije Vlam and Armands Celitans that they ended the contracts with these players and looking for subtitutes for these players.

    The management says:

    - Ivan Contreras is too old (37 years) and they are searching for a much younger and stronger opposite. He delivered good performances this season and the other 10 years in Roeselare, but he's not the same opposite like 5 years ago and needs to be substituted.
    - Kristof Hoho wanted to stay, but with better financial conditions. Roeselare decided that his financial condition is not feasible for the club and ended contract with Hoho.
    - The prestations of Armands Celitans were not as expected, there's no place for him in the future team of Knack Randstad Roeselare.
    - Tije Vlam is struggling with his back and the medical staff suspects that he has a hernia and must undergo an operation. Roeselare won't risk to extend the contract with Vlam.

Knack Randstad Roeselare negotiates with Hendrik Tuerlinckx, Manuel Callebert and Wouter Verhelst, but the club says the conversations were good, but they still have to sign a contract.

The club also doubts about the future of second libero, Kevin Geerinckx, in Knack Ranstad Roeselare.

Last, but definetely not least: the club is negotiating with Frank Depestele (nominated and elected as best male volleyball player in the Belgian league this season), but he has more than 5 offers from other clubs, which Friedrichshafen has to best financial conditions. In April, Frank will decide he will stay at Roeselare or leave Belgium for another adventure abroad.

Sam Deroo and Stijn D'hulst still have a contract with Roeselare.

Matthijs Verhanneman will leave Roeselare and play next season at Trentino Volley in Italy.

Also, next season, Randstad will stop sponsoring Roeselare. The financial budget of Knack ... Roeselare stays the same, but they search for another big sponsor.

Thank you for the links :)

Last year Zhekov had 9.5 rating in greek match. I've never seen such high rating. This year he had 4.4 in Turkey - I've never seen such low rating. He played either with trauma, or he needs to work with the team, to know the players better

Bulgaria has progressed very little in the ranking since CSKA had three victories, went to CEV and eliminate Ziraat :what:

In the match Arkas-Okullari (3-0), Abdallah has a score of 1.9! That's a low score!

In the beginning of this season, the coach of Maaseik (Vital Heynen) said that one the goals of Noliko Maaseik is to play in the Final Four Champions League. Everybody said it was a very difficult task, but now it seems that Maaseik will achieve this goal. Budva shouldn't be a problem for Maaseik and the match against the winner of Unterhaching-Jastzebski is also achievable. Noliko must play 4 good, fully concentrated matches. That the best may win!

Roeselare has a more difficult task, their opponent is Belchatow. Especially winning in Poland in that monster volleyball hall is almost infeasible. Roeselare has to play 2 excellent matches against the Poles, but it will be very difficult for the Belgians.

I think nobody expected a victory of Menen in this match and the golden set. But with this match, they show everything is possible in volleyball!

The Belgians of Menen are very proud of this victory, maybe their greatest stunt ever in the history of Prefaxis Menen volleyball club. The next opponent in the Challenge Cup is Aich/Dob.

LOL, Here we go again :aww: In which twisted world you can describe 11-0 run of weaker team over much stronger after 0-5 in sets like some historical comeback or normal thing ?(

Rambo and Rocky are fiction movies, Stallone or Steven Seagal don't play volleyball, and them killing 15232 men alone isnt happening in normal sport   :D ;) And if they play volleyball they surely wouldn't play for edited Menen which have negative w-l ratio in belgian monster league:drink:

On paper, Istanbul surely has stronger players than Prefaxis Menen, you agree and I agree. I really don't know what happened with Istanbul, but they lost the match and golden set. What's the reason why Istanbul suddenly lost the third set, the match and the golden set? I don't know! Maybe they underestimated Menen. Or maybe they're problems within the team?

cmon be serious, these teams cant be in same sentence, there is no alibi for such mess they did, someone must explain that, otherwise it is some fishy stuff

I don't know what happened with Istanbul (last post I said Ankara, it's Istanbul), but Menen showed a lot of courage.

The match is over, Istanbul had their chance to win this match, but they didn't. It's a pity for the Turkish team, but the comeback of Menen was surprising and effective!

I'm also quite surprised! Ankara had a huge advantage to win this match (first game 3-0, then leading 2-0), but you must PLAY every match till the end.

After Roeselare and Maaseik, also Menen goes to the next round in European competition. Don't mess with the Belgians!

Due to financial problems in Tomis Constanta, the opposite Mads Hartmann Ditlevsen has left the Romanian team. Now he's playing in Top Volley Precura Antwerpen (Belgium).

I read that belgian Franck Depestele had signed a contract with sisley for the 2011-2012 season...Maybe Marcelinho has a contract for just an half season...

Frank Depestele has not signed a contract with Sisley Treviso for next season! They contacted him to play this season in Treviso, but Roeselare didn't let him go.

Now, Sisley Treviso has a contract with Marcelinho. Depestele is quite sure that he will leave Roeselare next season and his biggest wish is to play in Italy. But every team can offer him a contract, not only Treviso!

In the national league of Belgium, almost every team has an name sponsor:

Knack Randstad Roeselare: Knack is a magazine, Randstad a temporary work agency
Noliko Maaseik: Scana Noliko nv is a feeding company
Volleybalclub Euphony Asse-Lennik: Euphony is a telecommunication company
Volley Toyota Wouters Averbode: Toyota Wouters is a local automobile repair shop.
Aquacare Halen: Aquacare is a company who controls the water in some regions in Belgium. They lower the amount of Ca2+ in the water and make it drinkable for everyone.
Prefaxis Menen: Prefaxis produces different types of hollow wall elements in exposed concrete.
Argex Duvel Puurs: Argex produces expanded clay grains, Duvel is a brewery (Duvel is also a worldfamous beer)
Topvolley Precura Antwerpen: Precura is an independent, social insuring company.
VC Schelde-natie Kapellen: Main activities of Schelde-natie are inspection and stevedoring in grains and fats (and derivatives).

Only VBC Waremme has no name sponsor.

A local Belgian newspaper took an interview with Matthijs Verhanneman, outside hitter in Knack Randstad Roeselare. In the newspaper Matthijs said he will leave Roeselare at the end of this season and will play next season in Trentino Volley.

Verhanneman is not the only player in Roeselare who will play in Italy next season: also Depestele has already said he will leave Roeselare at the end of this season; next season he will play probably also in Italy (Treviso already contacted him to play THIS season in Sisley Treviso, as substitute for Pujol. He was interested, but Roeselare didn't let him go). The Belgian press contacted him and he said there's 95 % chance he will leave Roeselare at the end of this season.

11./12./13. 01.2011 FRA Arago de SETE

3-1, 2-3 (Asse-Lennik has strong team this season, they already kicked Poitiers out of the CEV-cup. Sète are third in French league, but they lost last match and had a tough game with Kharkiv. Maybe they're a litte bit tired. It will be an exciting duel!)

    11./12./13. 01.2011 GER evivo DÜREN

    3-0, 1-3

    11./12./13. 01.2011 POL Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE

1-3, 3-1 (Same story like Rzeszow: every year Kedzierzyn-Kozle grows stronger and in this match, they're favorite. But the Spaniards are first in their national league, so you can't underestimate them)

Roeselare: Depestele (setter) - Contreras (opposite) - Verhanneman / Hoho (OH) - Vlam / Celitans (MB) - Callebert (libero)
bench: Geerinckx (libero), Deroo (OH), D'hulst (setter), Tuerlinckx (opposite)

Last seasons, I remarked a trend in Turkish teams. This teams attract good players from other leagues of Europe, but the players stay mostly one year in Turkey, at best two years. The Turkish teams have a lot of money to attract good players, but they can't keep them for more than two seasons.

    Examples:
    - Antti Siltala last season with SGK Ankara, next season in Bydgoszcz, Poland
    - Jeroen Trommel probably to Vfb Friedrichshafen, last season in Istanbul
    - Guillermo Falasca last season with SGK Ankara, next season with Yoga Forli, Italy
    ...

Now, some Turkish teams have attracted very good players, like Leonel Marshall, Liberman Agamez, Mikko Oivanen,... And I think that these players won't stay long with their teams.

I have nothing against the Turkish league, I'm 100 % sure that the Turkish league will be better next season then last season. It's good that there will be another strong league in Europe. But I remarked just a trend in the Turkish transfer market.
